Brother Steve is awesome! Always in the pocket. Love his work with the Robert Cray projects. Laying it down and teaching lessons on every track he worked on.
Bass. Snare. Hats. Ride you can crash. Commence grooving! This is why I love Steve so much! He oozes groove! BTW You can find that complete amazing Letterman performance on youtube. And the T.A.M.I. Show James Brown was mentioning was the Teen Age Music International Show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium from 1964.
I think there's a spirit, intentionality and purpose conveyed by his hits, his notes that resonates on a more personal level. A feeling drummer. Keltner, Clark and Chambers have it... Good video.
I just noticed that Steve's bass drum hits sound different............. As in, they don't all sound the same despite being hit on the same drum........ This guy is a master. And I knew that, but his foot control really drives that home.
Here is the Letterman set: ruclips.net/video/miwzvkESBI8/видео.html Steve is hidden behind the bass player. Feel bad for that bumped guest! Oh well. I doubt he minded too much after that JB set!
Gotta love Steve! His groove goes deeper than mariana's trench!
And not to be confused with the band Marianas Trench 😂
Steve has always being one of my main influences., never gets old.

OH YEAH!!!!❤
Nick: your pocket is so deep
Steve: nods head
i feel like he has to mentally prepare himself to hear “groove”, “pocket”, and “feel” before any drum-related interviews ahahaha
it was just what was called for. . .

Thank you, that interview was very interesting!
Listen to the hi hats demo at 15:30
It would be the coolest thing if Steve Jordan and Nate Smith hold a clinic together.
I bet that Nagel painting in Nick d'V's background has a deep pocket. #90sbadhumor
15:37 - Waiting on the world to change ;)
What snare does he use??
Maybe his old yamaha signature snare?

Is Steve in a church? Or do his house/ studio look like that?
Looks like he's at Pilot Studios in Mass. Old converted church.
@@nerdvana2 thank you.
