Brother Steve is awesome! Always in the pocket. Love his work with the Robert Cray projects. Laying it down and teaching lessons on every track he worked on.

Bass. Snare. Hats. Ride you can crash. Commence grooving! This is why I love Steve so much! He oozes groove! BTW You can find that complete amazing Letterman performance on youtube. And the T.A.M.I. Show James Brown was mentioning was the Teen Age Music International Show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium from 1964.

I think there's a spirit, intentionality and purpose conveyed by his hits, his notes that resonates on a more personal level. A feeling drummer. Keltner, Clark and Chambers have it... Good video.

i feel like he has to mentally prepare himself to hear “groove”, “pocket”, and “feel” before any drum-related interviews ahahaha

I just noticed that Steve's bass drum hits sound different.............
As in, they don't all sound the same despite being hit on the same drum........
This guy is a master. And I knew that, but his foot control really drives that home.

It would be the coolest thing if Steve Jordan and Nate Smith hold a clinic together.

Here is the Letterman set: ruclips.net/video/miwzvkESBI8/видео.html Steve is hidden behind the bass player. Feel bad for that bumped guest! Oh well. I doubt he minded too much after that JB set!
