- Went out on a grand picking adventure and WOW, what a haul! The only issue here is, will it all fit in my car?!This trash picking dumpster diving morning sure made me wonder if i'd be able to! Fantastic dumpster haul, this is how we get paid from garbage

Hey thub it's actually really easy to get the brass out of plugs. Makes alot more money and if it comes out just right the little bit of copper wire that was attached to it comes out too! Easy money
+MattLyman I appreciate the tip! I've been down that road before though, and I'm sure you get sore wrists and dull grips before you pass $20 an hour. I respectfully disagree about it being easy money :)
It's a cool idea to keep them around just in case though. A couple buckets of plugs probably has $50 in brass for the fella that wants to do the work
thubprint if you get a way to hold them down maybe try the angle grinder or a Dremel to cut the ends off.

Unexpected shoutouts I love it. So I have an idea/thought thing. Being a guy that finds a lot, and can Jerry rig things together..... what about making a decent size roof rack? Maybe put some place to put ratchet straps and things. Might come in handy until Marcus and I get you the buy a Toyota

+The Bearded Diver yea, it's just a Toyota Matrix that Pontiac bought in bulk and re-branded. That's one of the best things about them, compatible parts are everywhere and cheap too.
thubprint I just read up on that a couple days ago. Considering getting one but Wikipedia is confusing sayings it's a suv, but also saying is on a small car platform. Guess I will have to check one in person before actively hunting to buy.
That artsy side table is really cool. I'd be tempted to keep that one rather than sell it.

From the videos, it is apparent that people do not take that little extra step to recycle. If anybody complains now, you could just point out that taking the bottles out of the trash, that you are helping the environment (and your wallet). Plus, are you sure that your Vibe is not a TARDIS?

Have you ever thought about trading in your car for a small truck? You could haul steel a bit more often? Maybe fit all the dope furniture you find a bit easier.
+Nolan Dykstra Presents I've thought about it, sure. Dumpster Marcus and bearded diver love razzing me about it. My reasons are both emotional and financial. I am very much in love with my vibe, for better or for worse. My brother has a truck, and he gets HALF the gas mileage I get, and it's not even a big truck. My insurance is cheap as chips too. A truck would cost me an extra $3-400 a month after all said and done. That's a lot of steel runs just to break even, and most of the stuff I do the truck wouldn't be any better suited than the vibe. I would rather set aside fifteen hours a month for picking my nose than spend them running steel just for the privilege of driving truck.
If I see an opportunity to increase my cash flow that's rewarding enough to justify it, I'll get a truck. Steel runs just aren't good enough.

in our area (Toledo, OH) there was a TV Reveal Showing, that ALL Our Recycled Pick-Ups; Went Directly To The Land Fill?!?!
in my little Suburb, cops still do give out tickets, for picking at the curb; despite the very public TV Reveal!!!
perhaps you could discover where your city's recycling actually goes...may turn out to be Same As Here!!!

proof or it never happened. also was that just one truck they followed or was it multiple over many days otherwise there is no proof that that happens. Also just look at a few of there recycle totes he showed they are full of garbage so when you get to many of those there is the chance the whole load will have to be trashed. that could be the case there. Also the city has videos on there channel showing what happens to the recycling.

have no proof. assuming the TV Reveal was accurate; would seem there would've been flak if they were lying. many of our recycling centers did close-down after the reveal occurred. course you know what assuming means.
have only ever seen one operation that actually separated trash and recyclables. it is a contract operation that uses aliens to do all the grunt work. but unaware of any place here in the "cold zone". rgrds...walt

garbage rich in recycling just throwing money away happens at a lot of houses here to they just throw bottles and cans in the trash. you already pay for it so you might as well get your nickel back.

My friend gave me a garbage bag full of bottles just tonight, just like your neighbour in that video of yours. He could take them in himself, but then he has to make a special trip and stand in a hot smelly lineup for $8-12, and that'll take the better part of an hour. Keep in mind, he'll have to do it on the weekend because he works regular full time hours. Weekends are valuable family time, so if you make 40-80k a year, is $10 enough to cut an hour out of your short time with your wife and kids that you been looking forward to all week?
Or you could save them up. Now you've got 5'sq in your garage that's just a sticky mess constantly.
For a large number of working adults, giving them away is the correct choice, throwing them away is the next best thing. Perspectives man, they get weird.
that is true for some of the higher working class bottle money is peanuts to them. especially here were it is only 5 cents a pop and then like you said storing them and carrying to a bottle depot. Like I know for us a full Chevy equinox is only about $25 bucks. and they can be sticky and dirty if you don't wash them out. Like with the bottles I got they were a bit dirty and sticky with a hint of the nasty smell of beer. and that was only $7 bucks. although he does not work he was hurt on the job but he does have a pickup and the bottle place would only be about 15 minutes of work and he could also teach is 3 year old about recycling and making money. Man perspectives do get crazy when you factor in how you think and what other people do.
Truck could have been used as a camera dolly. Just for future ideas.

House Bat i live on the other side quebec and i get 25c pound for motor price is lot different from one province to an other
yah but your 25 cents is basicly equal to 9 of are cents and the prices are very diverse here as well not by different states but by the scrap yards themselves theres another yard near me that does 5 cents a pound for motors and when i used to live in texas there was a scrapyard that was 20 cents a pound so price is diverse alot here as well
