This is like looking up and seeing an anvil fall towards you, only that you realize there must be some spaces in between the individual atoms composing the anvil and you might be able to survive if you could squeeze yourself in between those spaces.

While the rules were in part designed to prevent bloodshed, Junko has multiple spell cards made to kill."_ No wonder why Junko's attacks have very tiny gaps, they're indeed made to sure to hit you, rather than look beautiful
She is the embodiment of fury. You wont bother with patterns if your entire being is just made of pure rage. I never understood why people hated her attacks. It represents her perfectly.
@@TunesByAI2024 Because representing a character thematically shouldn't come at the cost of good gameplay. And Junko is very frustrating to play for this kind of run and reads to some as an excuse to make borderline placeholder patterns.
You tunnel vision yourself on spaces that actually matter, but then again i also have a hard time tracking it on tunnel vision that i would probably dies atleast 6 times on third phase of the last spell card.
@@TheGraySeed yeah it feels like you either focus entirely on a circle around your hitbox to survive, so you end up locking yourself between a three-way crossfire, or you attempt to expand that field but you start losing track of everything going on. gonna take plenty of sleepless nights and sandpaper eyes till you can pull that one off.
It's actually not that complicated once you break it down. The mistake newcomers to Danmaku make is they focus too much on bullets that are just for show. You need to concentrate on a small section just ahead of your hitbox to process what is coming. It also takes PRACTICE, these patterns aren't random, they will stay the same every gameplay. Once you get the muscle memory down then you start to focus on what matters and how to respond to it. What people may find hard is having the confidence not to look directly at your hitbox, but instead look ahead and gauge how much of a gap your hitbox needs to dodge. Anyone who's interested in Danmaku should definitely give Touhou a try. The characters, soundtrack and memes are amazing, and all this work comes from 1 person.
Little known fact btw: the purple and yellow fireballs (i.e. the ones that cover the bottom half of the screen on Modern Divine Spirit World) have, counterintuitive as it is, SMALLER hitboxes than the pink and red ones; it is in fact safer to always dodge MDSW at the bottom and never at the top. You would think it doesn't matter since you dodge MDSW at the side and thus aren't under Junko anyway, but ZUN decided that fireballs having a different colour should change their hitbox. Amazing.
That's irrelevant to the point I'm making here. The point is that you would think bottom or top is irrelevant, because logically the hitboxes would have the same size... but they don't.
There's not much reason to, and people usually do the spell at the bottom anyway, but I was discussing the hitboxes alone, unrelated to what players actually do in practice.
I really love her "Cleansing of earthern impurity" spell and what it represents Feels like it channels all the negative/imperfect parts of being human and uses that energy against you Really fucking cool
what i find a little humorous as to why junko is so difficult is because her spell cards technically break spell card rules cause her attacks are aimed with the intent to kill outright
