It's nice to know that even EXTREMELY talented musicians can have an off night. This is my favorite song of all time by Whitesnake and one of my favorite songs of all time, period. The song borderline's on legendary. That was the good news. Between Coverdale's troubled vocals, Vandenberg / DeMartini not coming even remotely close to covering Vai's solo's (not saying that's an easy task, but these 2 are more than talented enough to figure something out) and the horrendous live mix here, I'm not sure that this song could have been butchered any worse. This was downright painful. I'm surprised this performance didn't start WWIII with Russia, after they had to sit through it.
The song suffers from the lack of the original Steve Vai's licks. This is a more stripped and raw version but can't hold a candle to the original version (or the live versions with Vai).
Adrian Vandenberg wrote the song so it's very much more original than the version with Vai. Vandenberg suffered from wrist injuries and could not complete the recorrdings of the album which is why Vai was hired. DC rediscovered the demos a few years ago and deemed the album as "overdecorated Christmas tree". But they are two greats, whatever floats your boat.
Obviously the solos on that song on the album weren't written by Vandenberg. They sound like Vai through and through and as good as Vandenberg is I seriously doubt he could even play it.
@@christiancolossus5165nobody sounded this off at the Moscow peace festival in 89 or monsters or rock Moscow 91 . Whitesnake where clearly having an off night
Pretty awful .The whole event seemed awful as well , The main crown were about 30 meters away from the stage fenced in behind a wire barrier, whilst about 100 were closer to the stage. I would say those at the front were part of the "russian elite" . No atmosphere, whatsover

Wow what happened here? this is the only time I've ever heard Coverdale off key
Have you ever played open air
With wind ?
And with sound turning .
So you cant hear yourself and others
You try playing in Russia some time.

Warren Demartini on guitar.
Hmm, so this is what Slip of the Tongue would’ve really sounded like. Think gawd for old hand injuries.
0:02 error
Why warren demartini plays with whitesnake

No atmosphere, whatsover
...and the is MIX is beyond terrible!
The guitars don't have no crunch.....what the heck
"crunch" ????
Role model
sub par
It's well into the 90s yet they look like a leftover band from 87.
in places like Russia and Asia you could still do those things without getting bashed ;)
That was one of the most uninspired things I’ve ever seen
Not the best whitesnake version
Warren Demartini
Adrian Vandenberg
Rudy Sarzo
Dennis Carmassi
And
David "Fuck" Coverdale
🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
In my opinion version very weak 🎵🎼🎶😩👎
its a rare thing for me to knock something Warren D was involved with, but man this was awful!! Warren is still on of the best lol
pff... the drums ear very bad.. in my opinion
dont like this version
Здесь, Дэвид петь не хочет
Worst performance yet. Who's the lead guitarist????
That scream from DC was HORRIFIC, LMAO . The solo exchange was horrible, Nothing like Vai's solo which was way better.
