Came here just to say a lot of people have an issue with their usb to Ethernet adaptors not working, but your tip about adjustment in the bios completely fixed my issue! You’re the best and should probably just make a video on the fact that this fixes all OTG accessories not connecting, a lot of people would watch it I’m sure!
i spent so long last night watching other tutorials and i couldn't get it right, followed this tutorial this morning and it worked first try! Thank you!
if the steam deck does not recognize your usb stick, I had to plug it into a POWERED dock. your method is perfect AND its the first time ive seen it mentioned anywhere. bless you

I've been into emulation for over 25 years and the Emudeck software is the greatest piece of software to bring the joy of emulating the old games to the masses. I had a baptism of fire using Advmame to get arcade games running on a CRT TV, that was a bitch, believe me. Loads of self built adapters and hacks, but I did get it to run on an old 42" Toshiba TV after many months. Now Steam Deck, Emudeck and an HDMI out to a normal TV. Arcane magic.
I’ve ordered a steam deck, and the dream is to run ps2 games. What’s the best thing to use..emudeck or pcsx? (or whatever it’s called) as I’ve had a quick look and I’ve seen people speaking about these 2 things. Could you recommend the best way to run ps2 games on the steam deck as I am new to this unfortunately

Thanks for the info about detecting USB drives! I'd managed to get it to detect it after restarts only and meant I would have to shut down and start up my steam deck every time I put a USB drive in. it was frustrating
you don't need to drag the wii u game to the desktop, just right click and go to the micro sd location and move files over, for multiple games select all and do the same command, the "keys" are easy to find and install in the right places, also this guide would have benefited with you mentioning the new export tool for steam deck LCD users who need to transfer their data over to the new oled also why wasn't your usb external not configured to work in steam os? when i used my drives in desktop mode on the oled they worked straight away, maybe a setting was messed up using it the first time is my guess

Great video, thank you for this! Question, since EmuDeck installed all of the folders and organized them by emulators. Can I just remove the SD card and do all of the file transfers there and then reinsert into the steam deck and parse them?
Exactly what I been looking for now that I see you using a hard drive my question is I see guys like Kris cool mods sell hard drive but I don’t know if there’s compatibility any clue good content btw.
Thanks for the great tutorial! So I'm having a hitch at the steam deck not recognizing my usb c thumb drive. I went into the bios and changed the usb thing to xhci, but it still wont recognize it. Is there any other fixes I can try without having to buy a dock? Cheers and thanks again
Hey Techcravers~ How about an updated video on how to mod BOTW. Looks like UKMM is the new gold standard but I can't seem to find any guides on how to actually do so.
Let me save potential modders several hours of frustration. When formating the micro sd card for the deck DO NOT include a space in the name! It will work on the steam deck but for some reason Emudeck can't locate it. It has something to replacing a space with "_" and the Emudeck can't read that character.
@@Techcravers I did format it on the Deck. Doesn't matter. If you add a space in the name/title for the sd card Emustation won't be able to see the card and the only option with be the standard harddrive.
Hello! Your guide was amazing and helped me download almost all the games I wanted. EXCEPT 1. Can you please show a video on how to get Twilight princess HD to work??? Possibly with the missing textures?? I'm at my last straw trying to figure it out 😭🙏
I would like to see how to do this from just a SD card though. Can I just preload my roms on the SD card and install Emudeck there too? Guess I'll look around for another video.
If you're a Mac user don't bother, you'll never get your Steam Deck setup to run ROMs because you can't get them onto it. The fix in this vid does get to the Deck to see USB drives... sometimes. But it still randomly won't sometimes. And even if it does long enough to format, a Mac won't see either SD cards or USB drives formatted by the Deck, and vice versa.
Hello, will it make any difference at all, if i format my new sd card, but in kde formatting tool in desktop mode? some ppl say, if you do it that way, your card will have a comple format instead of just a quick one, and it will achieve better download speeds when downloding games from steam.
Is there a way to make the save data on the sd card too ? Also is there way to make the sd card for steamdeck before having a deck in hand ? as adding roms will take so long want to prepare my sd
Question! I added Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for the CEMU but it didn't show up in the rom manager as a game. Neither do my SNES titles. Is that normal? I had to use EmulationStation-DE to access them.

I am curious at performance vs something like Batocera. Keeping the OS for the emulation on the memory card is very convenient for swapping steamdecks if something breaks (i've done this 2x now and it was a nightmare for emudeck). Is it worth the hassle? I wonder if someone has compared benchmarks
@@jeffreypeters5578 no I meant actual benchmarks. CPU usage in steamos plus this program vs batocera could make a small difference. I'm games on systems like switch 3 or 4 fps can be make or break
Really not satisfied with EmuDeck. I set everything up as default without changing any notable settings. The first test already revealed problems: When I booted up my first SNES game I noticed that the overlay bezels on the side were too big for the game and were overlapping with it. "Probably the wrong aspect ratio", I thought, even though EmuDeck gives you all these options so I assumed it would just work. I went back to the EmuDeck settings and set the SNES aspect ratio from 4:3 to 8:7. Nothing happened. It was still 4:3 and the bezels were still overlapping with the game. So I used EmuDeck's "reset" function and went through the whole setup wizard again. This time, I chose 8:7 from the beginning. It worked but now the overlay bezels changed from the PAL SNES to the NTSC SNES. What the fuck, why? Then I disabled the bezels via EmuDeck and set the aspect ratio back to 4:3. The bezels got disabled successfully but the aspect ratio is stuck again, this time at 8:7. Re-enabling the bezels only returns the NTSC ones, no idea how I get the PAL bezels back. I can only conclude that the "quick settings" menu within EmuDeck doesn't work properly. Isn't this the whole idea of EmuDeck, though? That you can setup and manage everything within one app? I have given up for now as I hate fiddling with emulators manually. And here I was thinking that EmuDeck really sets up everything for you but even the simplest of settings don't work as they should.
Quick question, I followed every step and I believe my roms are working but as I launch a ps2 game, it will load for a split second before it freezes and the only option I have left is to close the game completely. Would this be an issue with the BIOS? I am a bit stuck here as it seems to read my roms correctly but not allowing for them to run though? Please help i would appreciate it thank you!
You obviously don't know that steam OS is a pain and very limited when it comes to emulating. Steam deck terrible with emulating unless you follow programs and install wizards as you'll have to spend an entire day learning the compatibility install method, then setup the emulator specs, then a day to tweak the controllers. Every system and game takes a couple days a piece to rewatch every jank video on RUclips that doesn't explain how to do but half of it. Just look at all the unexplained questions in this videos comments to see what I mean
Does Emudeck still mess up everything? I installed it in Phase 2 of the original launch and it was a mess. I ended up uninstalling and just loading emulators directly
hi, I've got everything up and running 24 games work flawlessly, but i have one gane not showing up. It's in iso format in ps2 folder any ideas? please help 😢
I'm having a ton of trouble with Sega Saturn. I'm trying to run Nights: Into Dreams on Beetle Saturn. Whenever I use steam rom manager I can add the rom through beetle & yaobase. (Two copies of nights appear in rom manager) If I add both the yaobase one opens, but there are weird audio issues including a strange beeping noise. If I try to open the beetle core version it just immediately crashes. What am I doing wrong? There's no info anywhere and everyone else's just seems to magically work.
I'm having trouble with the steam rom manager, i have a complete different Ui, where it tells me to create parser with a bunch of configuration to do like parser type, configuration title, steam directory etc and i don't know what to pick
Got emudeck going, but I cant get multiplayer to work with double dash. Player one works and I can get other multiplayer games to work, but not double dash
Anyone, please help 🙏🏻 This is a long shot.. I'm just trying to get emulators to be able to bind keys on my steam deck desktop. Stand alone emulators (Used to work, but not anymore) I'm using "parallel launcher" (n64 emulator.) My buttons are all messed up I think.. When I try to keybind the buttons, it says "not bound" when I press a button. What does that mean?? In the controller settings of steam, every buttons are bound. The X button brings up the keyboard, the right stick controls the mouse like the right trackpad. I just wanna bind buttons to my steam deck button... I've been at this for so long. I'm thinking of rebooting my steam deck at this point, and I don't know if it would even help. Is there a ways to "set the controller profile to gamepad"? Someone suggested this but I don't know how.
I have no idea how to access this so called "Tools and stuff" part of EmuDeck. Every time I run the .exe it just reinstalls - at no point does it present any sort of "tools and stuff" button. Help?
I can get it working fine, but getting the controls to work is a nightmare (at least for Duckstation). Does anyone know if it should just work? or is there some kind of specific configs that have to be done? I can get controls to work only through ES-DE launcher, but then I can't get the analog sticks to work in any games.

its fine.Loads time are hardly noticeable unless using xbox 360 or some ps3 games which still load good tbh imo.Microsd works lovely
Love emudeck simplifies everything!
what about other retro roms, for me ps2 works with your instruction, however, snes and genesis so far doesn't work, won't launch
Where do you the find the files for the games you want is there a link or...
Do I need to download proton or is it in emudeck?
Hi, does aspect ratio can be change later on ?
Yes no problem (you can do it from the emudeck installer).
@@Techcravers so you can't change aspect ratio while in game anytime? Only in emudeck installer?
hi, I've got everything up and running 24 games work flawlessly, but i have one gane not showing up.
Yes same problem, its a lot more confusing with the new UI, still struggling to config it...
How do I add Luigi mansion 3 to my steak deck? I looked everywhere online and haven’t found a decent rom or link that work
I totally support Nintendo (Switch) and the future games you Steamers can later rip and use without paying.
Got emudeck going, but I cant get multiplayer to work with double dash. Player one works and I can get other multiplayer games to work, but not double dash
Anyone, please help 🙏🏻
This is a long shot.. I'm just trying to get emulators to be able to bind keys on my steam deck desktop. Stand alone emulators (Used to work, but not anymore)
I'm using "parallel launcher" (n64 emulator.) My buttons are all messed up I think..
Help?
Is there any possibility that I could use no hard drive or usb
I can get it working fine, but getting the controls to work is a nightmare (at least for Duckstation).
Does anyone know if it should just work? or is there some kind of specific configs that have to be done? I can get controls to work only through ES-DE launcher, but then I can't get the analog sticks to work in any games.
