Maybe one in america owned by people who never heard of servicing, changing oil, etc. This is a low mileage engine and it looks like it's ready for the dump. It should work like brand new (actually better than brand new, they more power and less consumption over time) with twice that mileage.

Then the colour is white, black and white which personally I have never seen in Italy, it was black seats and everything plus white roof. Also the right mirror is the same size of the left one, never seen anything like that in a mk4
Mk4 lights are just a random feature to make sure you're still awake. When you think everything is fine a light pops up and it makes a loud "beeeeep" too
VW mechanic here, this is the 1.9 TDI PD (Pume Düse) with 89 bhp, since the wether the I neither the D and T are red, so it indicates the 89 bhp TDI, it has an much smaller turbine and lower compression i think

He has been building a new engine for a while now, hence not treating the current one like a regular engine with perfect maintenance.
Especially letting it idle when it's cold causes excessive wear and is simply unnecessary.

diesels start all the time
as far as glow plugs are ok, any proper working diesel engine realiably starts with cold temperature, maybe watch out for winter fuel in the tank

That initial startup did not sound right. There is a fix for that where you need to add an extra wire to a connector on the ECU.

It is not pd engine, it is pre pd one (vp) 90/110hp. Oil filler is on the left also the injection pump is clearly visible. Sad to see it is so abused
