Great info, I was a truck driver for 50 years before retiring, Things are so different now then when I started ,some things better some worse, Now that your out on your own, You will learn more in 1 month of driving on your own ,then months of classroom, books and driving with a trainer , The main thing is awareness of your surroundings and taking your time ,checking amd double checking your back up route even if it means getting out of your truck 2 or 3 times if your not sure , I trained probably 50 drivers in my career, Your initial training is just the first step in your journey. now that your out on the road, you will see and experience situations daily, where you will have to use your informed judgment and build from there. One of the biggest things in trucking is frustration, I mean cars merging right into your path ,Cars Hurrying pulling out to get in front of you while your going 40mph or more with a loaded truck, So keep in mind patience no matter if it's a car or Truck goes a long way, There are to many people on the road that don't realize you can't stop on a dime including other truckers today. So be very careful, check and double check your mirrors as well as everything within your sight distance and keep calm, Scan your mirrors constantly and eventually you will get more comfortable and develope your own routine, Iam guessing your probably pulling a van or maybe reefer, be patient at docks and realize they will get to you ,Grocery warehouses are some of the worst places when it comes to frustrating wait times but relax and take it with a grain of salt for now. since your with schneider maybe you will be able to work your way into a dedicated run ,For now ,I hope they keep you off the east cost and my company when dispatching us used to offer us choices ,I usually picked anything south or west and nothing past Pennsylvania ,so good luck , Be careful, and don't be afraid to ask questions

Everything you say is fine you will be ok because you have a positive mind set. Say this again in 2 years and then see if you feel the same way. You have a rough road ahead but don't be discouraged. When you back up take your time and check the rear often, you will get good at it in time. Be Safe Lil Brother and God Bless.

I’m with you brother, I’m a two week rookie as well. You hit everything right on the money. Your video made me feel so much better knowing that it’s normal. Good luck out there….try not to stress as much it’s something we have to do. We will be up there with the best of them later.

The drop & hook never bothered me except when I had to pull one out of the dock then put the trailer I brought in the dock. I've seen some crazy docks in my day. I did the trucker thing 30 years and got out

When you drive around, look around. You can find street parking especially in industrial areas. For instance in phoenix, lower buckeye has a lot of side streets you can park your truck. The same in cali. In a lot of cities in California they have city ordinances prohibiting truck parking. You can still get away with parking on the street if you find a side street with little traffic. But you do run the risk that cops will make you move.

Cali? Make you move? They'll just write you a citation. Cali is a anti-trucker communist country.

You’re gonna be good man. And don’t worry about an atlas. Use common sense and a gps you’ll be fine.

@floatpool8307 Where are you located? $27.00 per hour is OK depending on cost of living.

my first 60 days if I had taken a piece of coal at the beginning of everyday, placed it between my cheeks, & drove? i would’ve had 60 diamonds. one mile at a time driver, you’ll get there.
learn one new thing a day about your truck or the industry.
