What a journey you guys went on with this show loved the reactions can’t wait for season 2 cause I think it’s better than s1 you guys are gonna understand Anthony a lot more and my girl Simone Ashley is in it bring on season 2.
For me there’s something really special about Penelope-who is considered invisible to the society, always being ignored and having people making fun of her-being lady Whistledown, the most powerful and important personality in London. So empowering, being a woman at that time.
15:23-15:30 clapping and cheering at Rob's commentary here. It indeed takes two people two cheat. Siena might be the one in a relationship, but Anthony knew she was with someone else and still decided to participate. 19:46-19:50 ADORKABLE GOOFS!
To answer your question about what Sienna’s reasoning was, she realised that she would have to put on a gown and be a lady if she were to officially come out in society with Anthony. As she said, the gentleman who was with her did not wish for her to change and neither did she. So even if she and Anthony were together officially, she would have to change herself to fit society’s version of what a viscountess is which isn’t her.
The thing being missed here is that she would never truly be accepted in that society. This is the very elite in Regency London, those in the same social circle as the Queen. These are titled aristocrats, and an opera singer (or any "working" person) would be unacceptable. The men may not say much to the Viscount's face (other than jokes), but the women & men of the Ton would never Sienna. They wouldn't socialize with her or invite them to any society functions, they would be ostracized. Sienna knows this, and she knows she would never be accepted as a "Lady" much less a Viscountess. A mistress is usually the woman you can't/won't marry, and his name wouldn't save her. She begged him to let her go because she is looking at their world through clear eyes. Unless he gives up who he is and runs away with her, they can't be together.
Yeah, exactly, even if she put it on, he would have never married her. She was not marriageable material and especially not the kind of person that a man at that level of society would have married. He would have had to marry one of his peers.
In addition to Daphne’s speech, I think Simon’s talk with Mondrich @16:54 really helped him. Simon asks him about his “honour” - for Simon he was trying to keep his honour by sticking to the vow he made to his father. And Mondrich says “what could be more honourable than taking care of your family” helping him realise that your family (Daphne and his future kids) should come before honour and everything else. So he ended up choosing her over his vow :)
What I really like that Eloise and Benedict have a special bond as being the outsiders, wanting to be outside of society. It makes me glad she has an ally in the family and not trying to fight the conventional thinking alone. Outside of the friendship between her and Pen, I think Benedict is the one Eloise turns to the most.
The bee does symbolize something. It will be explained in season 2. If you notice, the first time they show the Bridgerton house, there's a bee on the door knocker and then they end the season with a bee on the window sill.🐝
Anwsering your questions while watching the video(that is amazing btw): No, Penelope does not like yellow, her mother just makes her wear it cause it makes her "disappeare" since the color, as described in the books, does not fit her. Whitch I don't think is the case in the series cause Nicola, the actress who plays Pen, is GORGEOUS. Yes, you have met Francesca, she was on the first episode of the show but somehow she desappeared to "play piano in Bath at their aunt's house". Unfortunatelly, that happens in seaso 2 as well. Fran appears only in the first and last episode of the season. The reason? Ruby Stonkes, the actress who plays Francesca, was working on other projects, such as Lockwood and Co., while Bridgerton was being filmed. With so much appearing and disappearing Ruby unfortunatelly is out of season 3 and another actress is taking her role, so that the character can appear more and people can actually remember her. And now, anwsering your last question: THE BEE. Well, the bee is a simbol of the Bridgerton family and fandom, and that's all I can say to you guys. If you want to know more about the meaning of THE BEE, you will have to watch season 2
Near the end when Daphne and Simon are out front together talking with Anthony, while Anthony is talking about removing emotions and focusing on duty to the household and finding a wife, I’ve always liked how Simon kinda looks at Anthony like “oh dear god, I did that for the past few months, and look, I still found love” without actually saying it. It sets up season 2 nicely and that’s all I’ll say on that point.
Sometimes when I watch your videos I literally forget I’m not in the same room watching this with you 😂 you guys just give off such a friendly atmosphere with these reactions 😊 one of the best things about you guys 🥰
You're right about the amount of the sex scenes in this season and the next one. And it did linger quite a bit in this show, very different vibe from the next season, you'll see. However, it has a reason when you think of it. This season followed Daphnie, who is clueless in matters of the bedroom, the marital relations as they put it and as was shown many different times during this season. The scenes of her and Simon are really transmitting how she felt at that moment, from the background music to the intimate feeling. It feels really raw, almost too intimate as if you shouldn't be watching this moment. Like it shouldn't be filmed. Firstly, of course, it says a lot about the acting and producing ability of the actors and the people who created this show, but moreover, I think it's intentionally a little bit uncomfortable because it's supposed to feel as if Daphnie is the one who is discovering... Well, sex. The intimacy of it, the other aspects of the relationship as they are presented when the married couple are in their marriage bed. We experience every second of it with her like we're there too. It's her personal arc in this season.
Each season is based on a separate novel, so while there are some story arcs that go from one to another, characters and main stories will change and there won't be cliff hangers like you're thinking of them. ;)
My favorite character was Lady Danbury. She took Simon and raised him when his mother passed and his abusive father abanded him. Remember he told all of London that his son was dead and moved to London leaving him to be raised to adulthood by maids and servants. My next favorite is Simon because after you got to know him he was charming to his friends. It so obvious in the way he defended Daphne from Berbrook and the way he was with Will and the housekeeper. Remember they are much lower class than a Duke but he treated them as equals.
Siena may be attracted to Anthony, but she knows there's no true future there. Even if he decides to be bold and take her to one ball, realistically she's not going to be the next Lady Bridgerton. She's justified in planning a future with more security. A title of nobility (as opposed to the house where people live) can't be gambled or sold, or even designated to a specific beneficiary by the present owner. England followed "male primogeniture," with inheritance passing to male descendants. If there were none of those, then it went to the next closest male relative -- a brother, then a nephew, and if need be a cousin, even a distant one if the immediate family had produced only daughters.
@@quz908 Lady Danbury is a bit of an enigmatic character, intentionally so. I haven't read the book series, but she seems to be a widow, and as such would have been provided with a residence for her lifetime, presumably by the deceased Lord Danbury. Madame Delacroix is a woman of the working class who probably rents her shop and the lodging associated with it with the money she has earned (and perhaps from gifts from admirers over the years). Her conversation with Marina when she was unable to converse in French suggests that her French identity is put on to increase her market value.
@@DelGuy03 Yeah, I already knew about the French charade, and that makes sense about the Modiste, but like you said, Lady Danbury is an enigma. I compare her and Portia. Why does one widow run a household independently, while another cannot. But like you suggested, maybe the answer lies in Lord Danbury.
@@quz908 There seems to be a lot we don't know about Lady Danbury; we mostly see her out interacting with others (starting with young Simon). My own assumption, which I may have to revise as the series proceeds, is that she might be more fully addressed as The Dowager Lady Danbury, i.e., the man who provided her with the title is deceased, but she retains it during her lifetime. In my reading elsewhere, the dowager countess or duchess is often provided with a Dower House on the country estate (the equivalent of a mother-in-law apartment or cottage) and a house in London. But that would be after the heir marries; his wife would be the new overseer of the household. But as you say, we haven't been told everything about the Danbury setup (and, of course, the series takes its liberties with the manners and procedures of the time).
@@quz908 Properties/ assets/ family heirlooms were often "entailed," which meant that they were all kept together as part of the estate and were passed down through the male line. Entailment was a way of protecting assets for future generations. (If the Featherington house were entailed, he couldn't have used it as a part of a bet.) But there could be other things that weren't part of the entail that people could dispose of as they wished - for instance giving an unentailed property to a second child or jewelry that was part of a dowry being passed on to daughters. Male relatives were responsible for their female relatives, but provisions could be made during marriage negotiations (or after) to settle a certain amount on a woman as a widow's jointure, which would free her from being completely dependent on the care of a relative after the husband's death. With Lady Danbury, it could be that she brought in a fabulous dowry to her marriage. As time went on and it became clear that she and her husband wouldn't have any children, her husband might have settled a extra-generous amount on her - perhaps everything she brought to the marriage and more - so that she wouldn't have to depend on a distant relation who was not a blood relative. Basically, he might assume that a son would take care of his mother, but be less likely to trust a distant relative to do so. When Lord Danbury died, the estate would go to his heir, but quite a bit, including money and property, could still go to Lady Danbury. (It might be the case that she would need a trustee, since I'm not sure women could own property then, but that's more of a legal relationship.) I think that during marriage negotiations, a responsible father would work to ensure that his daughter was protected even though legally, the men had the power. The father's ability to secure these protections had a lot to do with their bargaining power--if the wife was desirable because she had a large dowry, the father would have the leverage to get a better marriage settlement.
Correct. In the books, Pen is well aware that yellow is not a good color on her, but her mother thinks that yellow is a "cheerful" color and will therefore make people think that Penelope is a cheerful person, so forces her to wear it. I don't think they ever make that really clear in the show. ;)
@@Coneyislandqueennn I am pretty sure she does, but I don't recall what it was; maybe blue(?). Pen does have good taste and knows what colors would suit her, were she allowed to pick her own clothes. ;)
I’m so glad u guys loved the show, it was so much fun watching u all react to it! Every season focuses on another Bridgeton sibling so i hope you guys keep watching 💜
Sienna was completely justified in not moving forward w/ Anthony. Let's not forget how horribly he treated her in the first episode. Basically slept with her & told her to beat it. Leaving her w/o him or a home. She does need to look out for herself. A woman doesn't just need love but also a sense of safety & protection. She could not get that from Anthony.
Justified? Yes, anyone is justified to leave someone if they want. But I definitely felt bad for Anthony. If she didn’t want to be with him she didn’t need to lead him on, but I could say the same for Anthony. They both did wrong
@@marleycymon3512 It's a bit insane you're attempting to say SHE led him on when he was from beginning to the end of their situation-ship. She gave him ample time to make introductions to his family or at least attempt to show her in public, but he willingly chose not too because he is ashamed of her. And even if he did suddenly want to do so, he waited far too late. In this time period women depend on men and she couldn't continue waiting around for him and especially when we all know he wouldn't marry her in the end if it came to because he cares more for his AND his family's name than anyone who could jeopardize it. The most we can fault Sienna for here is sleeping with him those times while she was with the other man, but other than that she did nothing wrong.
Throughout the season pen seems to always be reading or with books which I thought was a clever, but not totally obvious, nod toward her being whistledown
Been waiting for this all day!!! So glad you guys did this series. Really appreciate all your commentary. I mainly watch your movie reactions, this is the first series reactions of have watched and I was not disappointed. Really hope you do season 2. Please don't make us wait!
Your reactions of season 1 were some of my favorites, can't wait for season 2 !!! Season 2 focuses on Anthony and a new set of characters. Its amazing ❤
Man y’all are going to love season two!!! And season 3 is Colin and Penelope! Their books is fourth in line and Benedict’s is third but they are skipping Benedict’s and going to Colin’s. But I’m excited for them anyway
This series was so good I ended up reading all nine books. The "bee" is very important but how they present it in season 2 is not how it happen in the books. As for for Daphne and Simon's first child, was suppose to be a girl. Their son is named David I believe, he was their fourth after his three sisters.
31:55 Well Laudanum is supposed to be something like 10% powdered opium (which is apparently the equivalent of something like 1% morphine) and I think is also chiefly alcohol. It was used to treat various conditions (including colds) but has since been recognised as addictive and chiefly banned. In any case I think that, like opium, it's something that's supposed to only be taken in small doses, and like opium if taken carefully can just knock you out but too much can kill you.
Francesca was in the first episode and then left for Bath. And Sienna could never be with Anthony. And they both knew that. The Featherington's heir will be the next male in the Featherington's line. Probably a distant cousin. Must be a male and must be a Featherington. I've loved yalls videos. Season 2 is loved by many. It's my favorite book and they dived so far off the book it was hard for me to watch the first time. Everyone else loved it.
all of your reactions to this season are so incredible!! i've never seen young men get into an olden times series. i've watched everyone of them more than once!! i'm onto season 2 AGAIN!!
It's funny to me how you, as three men I assume, expect some major dramatic thing happening like a death or Anthony lashing out, but me, a woman, was only expecting heartfelt romantic scene like that speech, that Daphne gave :D Love your guys' reaction to Daphne's speech btw :)
Loving your reviews! Thank you. I just watched your 'The Notebook' review. So nice to see you men embracing the genre. I'd like to recommend 'Somewhere in time' with Christopher Reeves (original Superman) and the beautiful Jane Seymour. It is an oldie, but absolutely wonderful. Set on Mackinaw Island, Michigan; in the historical Grand Hotel which still holds it's heritage and charm, today. (Fun fact: there are no cars on the island, only bicycles and horse drawn carriages. Also, every year they hold a "Somewhere in Time Weekend" with special viewings of the movie.)
The bee signifies the start of anthony's story! the series is based off books and each sibling gets a love story. season one was about daphne's and season two is about anthony's! can't wait for you guys to watch that season
Thanks guys. That was so much fun. I must admit, Season 1 was it for me , I adored everything about it. And here's the unpopular opinion. I despised Season 2. But because y'all are so hilarious, I'm taking one for the team, and watching for the reactions.
Ohhh that’s an unpopular opinion 😂 Genuinely curious, may I ask why? Is there anything specific that you like more about s1 and like less about s2? Your thoughts may sway me. I hope s3 is even better than both seasons 🤞
@@rosie743 Well, it's not a good idea to get me going about this show. And I am definitely not interested in swaying anyone's opinion. I loved the way Daphne evolved. She fought for her marriage, all the while she helped Marina resolve her dilemma. She took an interest in her husband's village, and adopted his people as her own. And the dancing was magical between Simon and Daphne. Okay, I'll stop now.
@quz908 I feel the same. I didn't dispise season 2 but I didn't really enjoy it. I think season 1 history resonated more with me and elevated the book a lot. I agree with Daphne evolution, and the end was just perfect with the ball. For me, the story was very well written and tight up, all the side stories had meaning and converge in the end with Daphne understanding that there were more to be a woman than the bubble she lived in. It was refreshing for once a romance not ending with the marriage and the assumption that after marriage everything is perfectly fine, their marriage didn't happen in a good circunstance so obviously they would have some growing going on. And of course sex was an important part of their storyline, since Daphne was awakening and was being misleaded because of her naivity, and the lack of information women had that time, with her story and Marina's being all about that lack of information. two faces of the same coin. The 1st season was a lot about women thriving, and Daphne learned not to judge because they're all trying to survive in a man's world. The second season side stories were very non sense and boring, that featherington jewelry thing going on, collin getting in it seemed like they just wanted to invent a storyline for them. Although I agree the main couple have chemistry, i don't really like Anthony's character (the actor is brilliant though) the whole Edwina situation and the final was very cliche with her suddenly being a coach for kate.
please react to “The Glory” when you guys have time it’s similar to “My Name”. Right now there is only one season but the second one is coming out next month!
That was sooo much fun rewatching season 1 with you guys 😂 I can’t wait for season 2. After season 1 I truly thought that season 2 wasn’t going to be as good as season 1 but they proof me wrong 😅 I think season 2 is better 💕 extremely excited for your season 2 reaction 🎉
Siena would have heard what people had to say if she went to the ball. That said, I would have kind of love Anthony just throwing over propriety and marrying her. There is precedent for the nobility marrying their mistresses--a duke or so have even married actresses before.

You guys finished Alice in borderland and now Bridgerton, my favorite shows.
Can't wait to see you guys reacting S2.
@@hers6694 yeah I don’t remember what even happened, but okay yes
Throughout the season pen seems to always be reading or with books which I thought was a clever, but not totally obvious, nod toward her being whistledown
the bee is a symbol for the book. it is an easter egg that tells the next story of the next symbol. Cant wait for season 2!
Penelope is very independent and good writer. I think in the books the identity is not revealed until the third book.
The bee is because of Anthony…
Exactly! And Colin discovers it first before everybody else( I read the book)…I like Penelope even more now
@@khanyi8512 I like nothing about her ruining other people's lives because she's lonely
Been waiting for this all day!!! So glad you guys did this series. Really appreciate all your commentary. I mainly watch your movie reactions, this is the first series reactions of have watched and I was not disappointed. Really hope you do season 2. Please don't make us wait!
The bee is for the next season, it has a meaning.
Gambling away fortunes was a common theme. Wasn’t much for the titled rich to do since they didn’t have jobs.
Zuff is really adorable with his on point comments and sense of humor ❣
The questions on the bee will be answered in season 2!! Just give it some time ❤ great reactions guys
I like that you are moving in such a fast pace with watching these episodes ☺️ other channels take forever to finish a series or a movie franchise 🙊
Your reactions of season 1 were some of my favorites, can't wait for season 2 !!!
Season 2 focuses on Anthony and a new set of characters. Its amazing ❤
Thanks for doing this series guys, it was hilarious!
If you want REALLY good series that is funny yet engrossing, "Orphan Black" is amazing!!
I love orphan black
This was so much fun to rewatch with you guys! 🥰 Thank you for all the laughs 🤭 Looking forward to season 2 reactions!
37:06 You're both right. In the books, the baby was a girl; in the show, the baby was a boy.
If a man with a title had no sons, it would go to the closest male relative. It could literally be a third cousin once removed they've never met.
I am always so happy to see your reactions to Bridgerton!! Excited for S2!
I know a lot of people loved s2 more than s1 but for me I loved this one more. Still super excited for the s2 reaction!
I was about to sleep (2:20am here) well guess not anymore lol
37:23 Bryce smiled like it was his own kid 😂
Okay, fine…I’ll watch another. 🐝
I believe the bottle actually said laudanum which is an alcoholic solution with morphine, prepared from opium. I could be wrong, but…
31:55 Well Laudanum is supposed to be something like 10% powdered opium (which is apparently the equivalent of something like 1% morphine) and I think is also chiefly alcohol. It was used to treat various conditions (including colds) but has since been recognised as addictive and chiefly banned. In any case I think that, like opium, it's something that's supposed to only be taken in small doses, and like opium if taken carefully can just knock you out but too much can kill you.
whelp, after binging yalls reaction to this show, i had to subscribe and i am SO excited to watch season 2 with you!!
Wow I'm so proud of you guys! I don't know anybody besides you who guessed that it would be Penelope :D
Just discovered you guys off of the Bridgerton reaction! love the content, you guys are awesome
PLEASE watch season 2, I absolutely can't wait to see how you guys deal with the next episode :)
onto season 2 woo-hoo🥳
also i think biggest clue about penelope being whistledown was her name, eloise & colin call her pen🤭
The bee 🐝 is an Easter egg for the fan. It's telling which Bridgerton sibling story is coming next 😉
do you know what the next easter egg is?? for the season 3 sibling i mean...i didn't notice any symbol in season 2
Watched every video of you watching this series. Time for season 2! Can’t wait!
all of your reactions to this season are so incredible!! i've never seen young men get into an olden times series. i've watched everyone of them more than once!! i'm onto season 2 AGAIN!!
5:03-5:30 Zoff is hilarious
Zuff* but yes, literally have to pause it sometimes to let what he said kick in 😂 then the other Bryce and Robs reactions get me as well 😂
he does and says the damnedt things, you gotta love him
He’s so unintentionally funny, he just says whatever pops in his head. He’s hilarious
Cant wait for season 2. Its gonna shake u up lol.
Season 2 reaction is about to be CRAZZYYY😁
really looking forward to the second season!!!
You’ll understand the bee in the second season!
If you guys have Disney+, Luke Newton who plays Colin is in a show called The Lodge, where he sings in a few songs.
The bee, at the end, is important for anthony's story, It was like a clue for the next season. Cant wait to see you react to season 2
i was thinking about… the bridgeston’s sibling names it’s the alphabet like, Anthony, Benedict, Collin, Daphne, Eloise and etc…
Yep, exactly
I feel very stupid now 😂 everyone knew it was Penelope except me
Bow Street runners were the original police, just FYI :)
You'll find out what the bee means in season 2.
Can't wait for season 2!!!
“Whatever happened to their dad”? These answers are given in season 2 ❤
Buzzing to see the reactions to Kate the Great
It's funny to me how you, as three men I assume, expect some major dramatic thing happening like a death or Anthony lashing out, but me, a woman, was only expecting heartfelt romantic scene like that speech, that Daphne gave :D Love your guys' reaction to Daphne's speech btw :)
I can't wait for season 2
Really hope you react to season 2, I just finished watching it this week and I enjoyed it a lot more than season 1 (and I liked season 1) 🙂
The bees will make sense in season 2! Can’t wait to see it! Love the reactions :)
32:47
"I-😶
Yup😶
Pregnant😐"
Would love to see you guys react to Good Omens! Quick 6 episodes and season 2 comes out summer 23
Dang you guys are hilarious! I said this last time but Rob said everything I said the first time I saw it haha 😂 same wavelength my friend
@@quz908 all valid points! I didn’t realise just how much growth she had in just one season. Ty for sharing ☺️ x
@@rosie743 I'm with you about S3, but to be on the safe side, I'm keeping my expectations low. But I still can't wait!
I know you guys are already though most of s2, so looking back isn’t it pretty dark and macabre that Benedict wears SO MANY bees 😂
Loooool sweet blissfully unaware Benedict
Just cant wait to season 2, which focuses on Anthony, its my fav one ❤️
aaaa can't wait to see you guys reaction to season 2
React to the second season :) it's so goodd
you will love the 2 season. I also can't wait for the third one because Penelope and Collins book is my favourite.
please react to “The Glory” when you guys have time it’s similar to “My Name”. Right now there is only one season but the second one is coming out next month!
Oh my god I CANNOT WAIT for part 2! It’s the best K-Drama I’ve seen in a while. So good 😩🤌
Now, I will wait your Season 2 Reaction~
That was sooo much fun rewatching season 1 with you guys 😂 I can’t wait for season 2. After season 1 I truly thought that season 2 wasn’t going to be as good as season 1 but they proof me wrong 😅 I think season 2 is better 💕 extremely excited for your season 2 reaction 🎉
cant wait to watch yall react to season 2
Thanks, Rob! Thanks, Bryce! Thanks, Zuff! 🪞 #ReelTime #AlrickRiley #Bridgerton
Zuff in the intro 😭😭😂😂
You'll see what bee means next season. I LOVE season 2 much more than 1. Can't wait to see your reactions 😌
You guys are gonna love season 2 even more 🎉🎉🎉💕💕
I loved this season my favourite so far. Such funny reactions, you guys can just start watching season 2 and season 3 will be out sometime this year.
Season 2 is so much better! Keen for y’all’s reactions.
32:59 “that’s probably the main reason”
Please watch the series "Scandal" the writing by Shonda Rhimes is excellent. It is a rollercoaster!
Siena would have heard what people had to say if she went to the ball. That said, I would have kind of love Anthony just throwing over propriety and marrying her. There is precedent for the nobility marrying their mistresses--a duke or so have even married actresses before.
don’t look up the bee
