"Barbox Brothers" tells of a disillusioned man entering retirement. Having spent a large portion of his life as an employee of the eponymous Barbox Brothers Company, he is embarking on a journey of self-discovery, beginning at Mugby Junction. Upon meeting the housebound daughter of a local railway worker, he decides to explore the seven visible lines that can be seen from her window, with the aim of better understanding his next steps in life.
"Mugby Junction" is a set of short stories written in 1866 by Charles Dickens and collaborators Charles Collins, Amelia B. Edwards, Andrew Halliday, and Hesba Stretton. It was first published in a Christmas edition of the magazine All the Year Round.
