My family makes Sad Vegetable Soup. Its basically a round up of the sad veggies you have lurking in the fridge in the last days before grocery shopping. Its also great for using the forgotten veggies that you find that look too sad to use as straight veggies but are not quite bad enough to throw away. Start with something oniony, any onions or leeks or even scallions. Fry till soft then add the harder veggies and fry a bit more. Then add your seasonings and the rest of the veggies and liquid. Usually water and some bouillon powder. Cook till tender. If you have it you can add lentils or barley.
Another soup lover here. I have heard that using evaporated milk can create the same creaminess as heavy cream, and a lot cheaper. I made French onion soup (my way) yesterday by adding sliced mushrooms. It was wonderful, so easy and very inexpensive. Loved all your recipes today!
Lisa, Miso is supposed to be a natural antibiotic, so I add it to soup when I start feeling sick - it works! I make stock from those veg scraps (like you taught us) or from the last of a rotissierre chicken. I make an Asian style soup with lots of veggies, cabbage and noodles. It is good hot or cold (my preference here in FL) P.S. I grew up in Wake County and I miss the bargains at Food Lion!
Oh hey, if you have enough of those apple cores, you can simmer them (30-45min if I remember right) with a bit of sugar (edit: and water if that’s not obvious 😆) and make an awesome apple syrup for pancakes
Lisa, they all looked good. I think I would like the blackeyed pea one. Your videos are never too long I could watch you all day long. :) Hope you are feeling much better. Thanks so much for sharing your soup recipes. You guys take care!!!
Re: heavy cream - I usually substitute 1/4-1/2 as much butter and blend it in with the immersion blender. Works beautifully! :) Also helps cool off the soup faster for freezing! (sorry for leaving too many comments.)
This has to be the best soup video that you have ever made! I love all these recipes and plan to make them all. I love creamy and blended soups. So delicious!
Great video as usual Lisa. Love the long ones. I would love to try that gnocchi. Not much of a cook, but I do think I’m going to try that one. It looked amazing and I am one day going to bake some of that bread you make. I can almost smell it.Nothing smells as good as fresh baked bread. Til next time, take care!
This video is just what I wanted! Totally in the mood for soup, and love the great ideas here. Lisa, you are so fun and relaxing to watch. 😊 Keep ‘em coming!
The last one is on my plan. I make a lot of pasta e Fagioli, tomato soup, squash soups and roasted cauliflower soup. I also like a brothy soup with rice noodles or ramen and bok choy.
Hey, there’s Lisa Dawn. I made veggie soup today and making pumpkin soup tomorrow and freezing in single serve ziplocks. Later in the week i g making veggie chili and doing the same. A bit of salad, a bit of bread or croutons … a total meal.
ooo i have one of those silicone rolling mats as well and i couldn't imagine making certain types of bread without it anymore! it's especially amazing for cinnamon rolls / cinnamon raisin bread and other things with messy fillings. i haven't thought about gnocchi in so long-- this so inspired me to make gnocchi with the short season potatoes that came out of my garden this year that don't store as well! 😊
I am a big soup lover and creator. I make chicken stock with all chicken bones I freeze and use it in cooking and for soups. Love your vlogs. You are a great cook.
Glad you’re feeling better. These soups look great! I think the gnocchi soup might be my favorite. I made gnocchi before after watching you make it. It was so delicious! I froze a bunch but I’ve eaten it all. I love to take it out of the freezer and fry it.
Your timing is perfect!! I needed something comforting to watch today ❤ always enjoy your videos!! We love soups in fact I’m doing up a big kettle of minestrone this Sunday!! 👱♀️🙏💫
All the soups look amazing, but I think I want to try making homemade gnocchi for that chicken gnocchi soup. I'll have to watch that recipe about 20 times to get the gnocchi made.🤞Thanks Lisa. Love from Texas ❤
I’ve been making soup here in Phoenix. Fall especially is soup season even if you’re cold at 70 degrees. Thank you for the great ideas! I think I’ll do the last one with turkey and kamut pasta. Love that base especially.
All of the soups looked delicious but I am going to try the black-eyed peas soup and also the chicken and gnocchi soup. Thanks for the great ideas and recipes.
Onions 🧅 are very good for a 🤧head cold, especially if you add marjoram or oregano. Or you can just add an Italian herbs mix.🍝 Another option is a hot curry, or chilli🌶🌶. That can really blast your sinuses clean.
Good to see one of your videos today! Tho I live on the East coast and normally there is snow on the ground this time of year we are at 80 degrees today😲
Blended soup or not (my blender is temperamental so I use an immersion blender) soups are perfect for when you're not feeling well. Glad you got to get away & have fun celebrating your friends wedding. Also glad you're feeling better. Great price on the scrapple!! I love me some scrapple on a breakfast sandwich. Eggs are slowly coming down in price here as well. $2.25 in NJ (Camden County Aldi).
I'm one of those people who likes a soup with textures so I was laughing when you got to the black eyed pea recipe. But they all look tasty, thank you.
There used to be a place in Beverly Hills called The Stinking Rose, and it was basically a garlic themed restaurant. I don't remember my main course at all, just that it was good. The star of the night was an appetizer called bagna calda, we ended up ordering 2 because me and my friend inhaled the first one. It was little pan of whole roasted garlic cloves soaked in olive oil and I think a little bit of butter and it's served with some fresh bread. So freaking delicious. So I can totally relate to just wanting to eat the garlic. I smelled horrible for days though because I probably consumed 2 whole bulbs of garlic that night lol.
Had to google scrapple - I’ve heard of it here and there before but as an Australian never knew what it was before - looks interesting I’d try it if I came over there again
@angelika_munkastrap4634 definitely different. It's almost like a smooth or slightly grainy texture. Pan frying makes the outside crispy while inside is soft.
It can stick to the pan when frying. I coat my slices in a little flour to help with that. It makes it's own grease similar to ham or bacon (perfect for a homemade breakfast gravy using the grease, some flour & milk).
@@stacyrussell460 wow I’d love to try it even more now Wish I could get it here But our foods are so different here and even replicating home made corn bread isn’t the same
Hi Lisa I love your channel. I always find myself with leftover pulled pork with no skills. There is not alot online that looks as yummy as your recipes. It would be cool if you did a compilation of your leftover pork recipes. Xoxo I love your content!
Lisa, start taking the odorless garlic capsules(softgels) (Walmart less than ten)....get the highest potency you can.... take at least six a day....I haven't been sick with any kind of respiratory infection since I started doing this.... it's been over ten years now....also good for your heart and gut.
I cut up part of a Cabbage, added Carrots, Onions, Water, a chicken bullion cube, and fried pieces of a Turkey Sausage and made soup. 3 portions and I have one left. Not a pretty soup but healthy.
My current favorite soup recipe is a creamy sausage potato soup. -4 large baking potatoes chopped. -5 hot Italian sausage links with casings taken off -1 Large Sweet Vidalia onion chopped -4 carrots chopped -4 cloves fresh garlic minced -1 pint heavy whipping cream -4 cubes bullion -4 cups fresh spinach chopped - Salt, White and black pepper to taste. 1) Add potato and carrot to large pot. Add water to cover. Add Bullion. Boil with lid on until tender. Use potato masher and slightly mash to thicken leaving some chunks of potatoes 2) In a large sauce pan on medium low heat, cook sausage and onion. Break apart sausage while cooking. Add garlic in the final 2 minutes. 3) Add all your pan ingredients to your pot including any liquid from the sausage and turn pot heat to low. 4) Add pint of heavy cream. Stir. Add black and white pepper. Add salt to taste. Add spinach. Enjoy! *This will easily feed a family of 4 ** Can substitute sweet Italian sausage links if you don't want the mild spice of the hot sausage
What I needed today amidst all the bickering in my newsfeed-a Lisa Dawn video!!! Perfect timing! I also love soup and eat it all year
Glad to bring some peace and good food to your day! 💙
She added the cherry on top of my wonderful day! LOVE LISA❤ SHE IS LIKE THE OLDER SISTER I WISH I HAD
Yay, >1 hour of Lisa! 🥳
❤❤❤
Thank you for another long video Lisa! Now I can disassociate for a whole hour, AND get some soup inspo 😅
I literally just searched for a butternut squash recipe that I could do in the instapot and I’m so delighted to see it was you who had posted one.

This is such a beautiful idea, thank you for sharing, and I love the name you guys coined for it!
If you want to add cheap protein, blended cottage cheese is a great option in many of these recipes.
There is never a season that I don't eat soup. I love it. I agree about adding onions. It just makes most savory dishes so good.
❤
I love soups year round too.
You were so adorable talking about the Olive Garden Parmesan cheese situation!😂🤘Lisa understands us!
My husband is the soup chef at my house. I call him the soup king. You are certainly the soup queen. All of your soups look delicious.
Did your husband "The Soup King" watch this video with you for inspiration?

Blackeyes peas are so wonderful. Glad to see you doing a soup making video. WONDERFUL VIDEO AS ALWAYS. THANK YOU.

So many soup options! Thank you very much, Lisa! ❤

All the soups look amazing, but I think I want to try making homemade gnocchi for that chicken gnocchi soup. I'll have to watch that recipe about 20 times to get the gnocchi made.🤞Thanks Lisa. Love from Texas ❤
You inspire me to try making homemade bread. You make it look so easy and it looks delish!

Next week making roasted butternut squash soup from home grown squash.
That zucchini soup could look really fancy if poured in separate parts into a bowl. A bit of a heavy cream swirl in the middle and bam! $20 a bowl! 😂❤
Good to see one of your videos today!
Tho I live on the East coast and normally there is snow on the ground this time of year we are at 80 degrees today😲

Soup--- yum !!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A thick chicken based soup is always really good!!😁
Me too! We eat soup all year....and we also live in HOT Raleigh.
I wish I lived somewhere where scrapple is in grocery stores.
A similar product is liver mush. I grew up enjoying scrapple in NJ. So good.
Had to google scrapple - I’ve heard of it here and there before but as an Australian never knew what it was before - looks interesting
I’d try it if I came over there again
I'm in NJ & grew up enjoying scrapple with breakfast. It's greasy, salty perfection when sliced & fried.

This is so true! I also combine garlic with Sambuccal blackberry tabs. They really help a lot.🌵💜

Great job! Yum 👍🏻
I'm always up for a soup recip. They all are looking so good. Chili season is now also how bout chicken and dumpkins. TY, more later..........

Missed you!
My current favorite soup recipe is a creamy sausage potato soup.
-4 large baking potatoes chopped.
-5 hot Italian sausage links with casings taken off
-1 Large Sweet Vidalia onion chopped
-4 carrots chopped
-4 cloves fresh garlic minced
-1 pint heavy whipping cream
-4 cubes bullion
-4 cups fresh spinach chopped
- Salt, White and black pepper to taste.
1) Add potato and carrot to large pot. Add water to cover. Add Bullion. Boil with lid on until tender. Use potato masher and slightly mash to thicken leaving some chunks of potatoes
2) In a large sauce pan on medium low heat, cook sausage and onion.
Enjoy!
*This will easily feed a family of 4
** Can substitute sweet Italian sausage links if you don't want the mild spice of the hot sausage
Yummy!
YEAH
The chicken gnocchi soup sounds the best and will try that one. Cream soups aren't really my thing.
Balsamic vinegar is delicious in roasted tomato soup.
Okay, you got me. What's scrapple? Never seen this!
If you knew what was in it, you probably wouldn't like it. I grew up enjoying it with eggs for breakfast or sliced, fried & on a breakfast sandwich.
Yes, I confess, I am a vegetarian.
❤❤❤
Yummy 😊
"incredibly seasonally appropriate"😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hit the 👍
What brand is that pan? It looks really nice
Did you ever receive the immersion blender that I sent you several years ago during the pandemic?
Just love your videos and if there's no chaos in the kitchen, then b!%(h , you got something missing ;-D
I would need to double or triple the amount of roasted garlic because I would devour it before it even made it to the soup😂
