- In this video I hunt for tons of old comics books at the 2022 New York Comic Con - NYCC 2022. I ended up buying a ton of KRS Mystery Boxes and won the grand prize. And I bumped into a lot of Familiar Faces from the youtube comic world. There were so many amazing Comic Books to see at the Comic Con. Grails, Key Issues, Silver Age Comics, Golden Age Comics, Bronze Age comics and so much more.
Watch as I dig though boxes of comics at the Comic Con and seen which comics I ended up buying.

Okay-the best comic book haul video of the year is right here! My vote for best NYCC video I’ve seen this year.

There's just something really soothing about watching you hunt in the boxes of comics. The backgound noise of the Con, seeing all the different books in the boxes, and walking around and seeing all the different vendors is a lot of fun and relaxing. Thanks so much for the NYCC videos, I binged them all in one night.

I know I normally avoid mystery boxes but I liked the 1/12 odds for the grand prize so I decided to try one to see if I liked the box and the first box was fun so I tried 2 and it was even better so I had to keep going haha
i guarantee that dude knew that one was the grand prize when he offered him that deal.
I had a little feeling he might have somehow lol But either way the rest of the boxes were great and he only charged me $80 each instead of $100 I think I got way more value then the $100 in each box.
Holy crap! That Turtlemania Goodwill score was INSANE!!! That story is why I still go into goodwills and look around because you never know what you'll find... great video as always
I know its insane he found that in a goodwill. You never know what you will find, you just need to get out and hunt.

Yeah I was not expecting to go so crazy on the mystery boxes, but when I saw they only had 12 left and the grand prize was still there I knew I had to go for it, that was great odds.

These are some of the better videos of this sort by a long shot. Everyone either shows too much or not enough. Too many edits, not enough edits. I feel like they just have a really good pace. Not constant talking and jokes. Just relaxing and it's cool to see all that stuff in one place. Really nice seeming guys too, they don't come off like know it alls, or like they are trying too hard. And yes, these are things I have seen in other hunt videos,lol.
Thank you I am happy you enjoy them, I love making convention videos like this that are long enough that you felt like you were there enjoying the convention but edited well enough that you don't get bored. And I tried to keep interviews really short with one question so it flowed well. Sometimes people interview folks and its an hour long and kinda tedious to watch etc.

Yeah I saw they only had 12 left and the grand prize was still there. So I asked if they has more boxes and they said that was the last 12 so I knew I had to take the leap the odds where too good.

Of course I understand that, they had 50 to start with and had been on sale for 3 days, All day Thursday all day Friday and then I did not buy these until the afternoon on Saturday so people were buying all morning and lots of folks had grabbed 5 at a time they said. I would have stopped at my 5th one because it was a winner but the booth offered me the rest of the boxes before I had a chance to open it so I took the offer. With so few boxes left I had to do it, it would have been silly not to.
@@FilmAgeStudios no sarcasm. I was surprised because there wasn’t a lot of time that had passed from when I purchased my box that same day. And then when I passed back the lot was gone .
Shawn, I just noticed how tall you are compared to some of the other RUclipsrs you saw there. I thought you were just a little guy from your previous videos (no offense)! But seeing you tower over Very (tiny) Gary and (little) E-Rod was very amusing as I'm sure you can tell. I enjoy all of your videos, Shawn, keep up the fantastic (four) work!
Haha people keep telling me I am taller then they thought in person lol I am 5'10" so average height I would say. My brother and dad are 6'3" so I dont feel that tall haha

I know I had to cut myself off at a short box lol I could have easily purchased multiple long boxes worth haha

NYCC can be super crowded and chaotic and a ton of lines etc. But if you go for comics it is the most amazing event.

would be pretty cool if you did a video showcasing some of your favourite comics. not necessarily ones that makes you the most profit. maybe one that have a good story or even your favourite covers
I mostly collect for the artwork, so showing off my favorite covers is definitely something I would love to do. I did a video last December showing my favorite 100 covers of last year, it kinda bombed and took me 40 hours to make but I love that video. I would love to do more of those.
Does Shaun have a RUclips channel? Also I just got into whatnot after watching your videos. Love hitting up Frankie’s comics shows. Always get a little anxious when I see you pop up into the stream. 😂
He does not, I think he would be a great at it with his warm personality since he is so nice and a great people person who also loves to nerd out. I think he wants to try youtube eventually. Frankies is great, I do try to buy everything I want that I dont own, but I also like to pay cheap so I sorta have a limited I wont pass but I will bid haha

One day, as of now I am still kind of a nobody in the greater comic community. But also I want to be in there hunting making videos finding cool stuff and sharing that fun with everything. If I was stuck in a booth all day id hate it hahah I rather folks walk up to me while I dig and dig next to me and have a great conversation while having fun.

yeah I spent a lot, I made a decision to start selling part of my Funko collection so I need to pull out enough value to cover what I spent.
Great video. Great hunting. I am appreciating your showcase of Golden Age books. About your mystery box though....if only you would have opened the box you had in front of you before you committed to that final deal for the rest. That's a kicker.
So true on the mystery box, but I did get the rest of the boxes almost 20% off and I was thrilled with what was in those too.

Plan now for next year, NYCC is always a ton of fun for me. I spent a small fortune but plan on selling some of my funko collection to help pay for what I spent.

Haha, well I did see they only had 12 boxes left so I knew the odds were really high in my favor so I went for it lol I would have stopped at the winning box but the guy behind me was ready to buy them out so I took their deal of buying the last 6 for $500 and was thrilled with what was in those boxes too.

I know I saw the Ghost for $3 the day before and I was almost tempted to grab them. But then at $1 I could not resist. You don't find bronze horror for $1 ever.
That was a good video,lots of fun. How much was that todd McFarlane sighned book worth. That Eastman yellow label 9.9 was amazing
I think his signature adds $60-$100 in value to any book. So overall the book is probably a $80-$120 value book
Those dollar books remind of of the Midtown Outlet in Astoria. They have the same deals there every Saturday. 5 or 6 long boxes of 99 cent comics.!
Yeah my friend Sean keeps telling me to go there. Do they have $10+ books there?
@@pop-comics i'm not sure if the 99 cents boxes has $10 books in there. I do know that some of the books are worth more than 99 cents. This is like the warehouse sale Midtown had many years ago.

Yeah they have a ton of really cool variants, I think that is why I gave the box a chance. But after the 1st I knew I had to open more lol I loved them so much I might start doing some unboxings of the mystery boxes they sell on their website sometimes

When he got it signed at the con he on purpose did not have a cgc witness so he could keep it raw so he could enjoy it.

Haha that is funny. I like to reinvest all I make from youtube back into the videos to make them super fun to watch. Its fun to watch things that most people don't get to do.

How much profit you make from those mystery boxes?? Great video 👍
Well I will most likely keep it all so no profit in a resale sense. But I did spend $1100 on 12 boxes the grand prize sells in the $1400-$1500 range. There was $350 in gift cards I can spend on their website. And each box had 4 comics which they retail for $20-$30 and some where older ones that they no longer have for sale which sell for more then original retail. And then one signed comic which would add value. I suspect I got about triple my value on the boxes.

As a collector of Harley, its nice to see someone so invested in comics from all eras, mainly golden age, still pick up Harley and her variants when you see them. Anyway awesome stuff, thanks for the insight into NYCC, watching from the West Coast !
She is a great character, been a fan since watching the Batman The Animated Series in the 1990s so I always love to collect any Harley comic I don't own.
Also it might seem I am mostly hunting for Golden Age comics, which is true. Not because I don't love all other eras, its just that I mostly already own all the newer stuff!

When the the HotFlips bins become $1 bins? I was there Saturday morning when they were still $3 per book. Still found some books at great prices but man I would have loved to have got them at $1 each!
I am not sure, I am guessing sometime later in the day but at $1 I could not resist! Still so much good stuff in them. It was around 5-6 PM when we went there.

How do you bring your stuff back to your house? Are you waiting for a taxi to bring you there, or are you literally walking home carrying it? Awesome video btw :)
This day I literally walked about 2 miles across town to the ferry then took that back to my neighborhood which is one stop. I live about 3.5 miles from the Convention center but I do have to cross the East river. The other days when I did not buy as much I took the subway.
But yeah my legs and shoulders and back are killing me after 4 days lol
So curious to know how to get free books like you did at the WhatNot booth? Do you have to be a buyer and seller to get free books from them? Thanks
I did not go to the what not booth this time. They had a huge line, not 100% sure what they gave away. I did get 2 free Bad Idea books this con, but that was a special promotion in which I had to carry a sign protesting them for an hour then when I came back with the sign they gave me the 1st comic then the second issue they gave you if you donated to their kick starter. I also got a free comic from the KRS booth for signing up to their mailing list. Its usually stuff like that which helps you get free comics at cons.

Oh man I forgot to film his stores name, I usually do that. But the Ashley Wood paintings where in the 8-12K price range so I had to kinda put it the side lol I would love to own them but out of my range for now.
