This song is the true soul of the Basque people, of what it means to be Basque and the commitment not to stop fighting for a new world without oppressed people and nations The year is 1977 and the first elections will be held in Spain after Franco's death. In the street many different "marches" sound: "La internacional" likes Laboa but it does not address the problem of small towns that struggle to survive, like ours; national marches are often chauvinistic and bombastic. Why not make one ("Notes for a march", the title) that collects the idea of solidarity between human beings and the community between peoples, based on the respect and recognition of each one of them? With these ideas "in mind", Laboa composes the music and asks J.A. Artze to write the lyrics from those general ideas. The result is this song that Laboa records in 1980.
