The hate is crazy. People can't mind their own damn business. Just because us individuals enjoy electronics and fire notification systems doesn't mean we're any different from other members of society. The entire problem with this generation is that we're too concerned with what others are doing and attacking them for it, instead of living a life worth living. You've done excellent work and one day, I would love to accomplish everything you've done. I mean, an entire house Life Safety System, you rock man. Way more in depth than my plywood board that, while following the fire code, is too small for my ambitions. Thank you for the amazing content, stay safe brother. ✊
We had a setup at one of our radio sites that was two systems that put each other into alarm. It was the biggest PITA on earth... you had to have two people to clear it, as the reset buttons had to be pushed at the same time or you'd go around again... I enjoyed ripping that link out!
Yes exactly this is what I'm trying to tell people that anytime you reset it has to be coordinated with two people otherwise the cycle will repeat itself of going into alarm
11:15 The out of sync effect of the alarms from two separate systems sounds cool as they can't activate at the same time and that for a building's networked system would have booster panels connected to each other and programmed to be connected to all systems that would follow the sync so that every networked system node has their devices synced using the system's sync protocol and booster panels all connected into each other
At my school, nothing that isn't new is all out of sync with strobes and horns so you hear a mix of temp 3, constant, and slow pulse. It just sounds like if someone put together alarms they found and played them at different times.
this is similar to how I have my fire alarm and fire/security combo panel set up, the fire alarm panel will trip a full alarm on the combo panel, but the combo panel will only trip a supervisory on the fire panel, since the combo panel already covers the entire house and my fire panel is only there as a hobby system
While I was watching one of your videos the other day. I was just thinking about what would happen if both systems went off at the same time. Great video!
Nice video, as always. By the way, I noticed throughout a lot of your videos that when you test fire alarms, you don't wear ear protection. I was just wondering why you don't, because obviously, fire alarms are loud and if you're around them for a long period of time, it could cause some hearing damage. I've expierienced that myself, and it's not fun.
mainly because he actually sets the volumes to where they're loud enough to be heard but not loud enough to cause hearing damage same with the schools they set them loud enough to be heard but not so loud that they're painful
I think the reason why there is that kind of perceived hate is because people would say these kinds of systems should strictly belong to commercial premises, they may also argue for what they think is a better alternative. The whole point to their arguments is that they believe that the factor of cost should supersede every rationale in designing a life safety system and that, furthermore, the ideal is to engineer a setup that is as cheap as possible (as the absolute number one priority) while maintaining code compliance, and be as simple as humanly possible. Hence that's why I think there are so many criticisms of your setup. Now, this comment isn't meant to instill hate, it's only meant to be transparent about what I think the rationale of some of your critics are. As a DIY systems integrator, DIY system admin, programmer, developer, and designer, I personally admire and take inspiration from your projects and for me to want to build a similar system in my parent's house is actually something I also wanted to do for years. So, without making it any more long winded, keep up the work! You will go very far.

Yo nick that was amazing how you set off both of the alarms from your garage and your house at the same time. That was an amazing video. It was awesome and I loved it. ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Nic, great explanation of why you don't normally have them set up to put each other in alarm. I was wondering, if they were left monitoring each other, what would be required to sync the 2 alarms properly? Can it even be done with panels from different brands (although I know both brands are both owned by Honeywell)?
It cannot be synced if they are only activating each other with monitoring of a relay the panel in the garage is not one that can be networked however the one in the house can be to a compatible panel that would give you sync
13:41 Thats what I hate. When the garage panel resets and the house is still going after its done resetting, itll go back into alarm. Wish that honeywell could make a feature where if you reset or silence the house or garage panel itll do the same thing for the other system where it silences like the other panel does to. Even when resetting that panel that got tripped and sent into alarm can also reset the panel in the house or garage too.
Woudn't you use the disable bulilding b tie-in on the main house system before it goes off would stop it going into alarm if it was set up to set both into alarm? It would stop the loop of setting each other off I think.
You don't usually know when the fire alarm is going to go off. I have it set up for supervisory and that's how I want it I do not want the systems putting each other into alarm.

I don't know if this is a dumb question, but couldn't you add a relay to disable tie-ins from other panels and seperate the systems for resetting? I feel like there is probably a reasson why this isn't done but i would love to hear why.
I'm assuming you mean to use them like a switch to isolate each system doing that would isolate them from setting each other off but it would also be a manual toggle which would have to be remembered to turn back on it would also put the systems into trouble as you would open up the circuit
@nics-systems-electric That make sense, but I guess if your already in that situation it would probably still be easier that running around trying to beat the reset.
Hi Nic,I just got a simenes fc922 out of a dumpster and I turned it on I have 14,000 troubles on it and is said WOW Have you ever worked with these panels If you want I could send you pictures of it and I could maybe send it out to you and you could look at it.Please let me know 😀.Do you know if I call simenes will they give me the info to factory reset it?
It isn't set as an alarm this was just a demonstration. The building B tie-in disable button only disable the garage from activating the house the relay bypass would stop the house from activating the garage
I saw when you were re-programming your house monitor module back to supervisory AR that there was an option for programming to a tornado alert, which I had never thought about for a fire alarm system. Do you know anything on that? (Also, love your videos!)
It would just be an easy way to label monitor modules and program outputs and control modules relay modules to the same thing for specific alarms and functions I've never personally seen it used as they are not a risk where I am
I swear, if the house was actually on fire, she would burn alive. Shes like: "If all the other ones were false alarms, than this one is a false alarm too!" but in reality: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
got a question.... do you have a video or any recommendations of videos on how to tie a bell and a pull station together.... but not connected to a wall.... soon me n my uncle want to try to wire it up.... it is the same pull station u have but the key hole is clear and there is not that white thing.... and the bell is a 4" i found on amazon.... so i want to tie it together without a panel as a demonstration board basically
Kind of getting what u r explaining. In ur setup the garage system only causes a supervisory on house system, and it is non latching. So what u did after all systems in alarm only caused a supervisory on house system and can be cleared later when garage system is reset. The problematic case is that both system can put each other into full alarm. This will need 2 people to work the system and reset at same time. Else it is endless loop of alarms.
I guess US systems are cooler because hearing mixed signals in a hotel got me into the hobby of fire alarms. Too bad it's illegal where you are. That's a problem because if thee is s system of bells and one bell dies, you should be able to put a single horn/strobe in place, but no you have to replace the whole system.
Replace the whole system? Not at all you just replace the failed device. It's not a bad thing, it's a good thing you don't want a fire alarm system to be confusing. Your devices should be obvious and not disorientating during an emergency.
@@nics-systems-electric Just replace the failed device? what if the failed one along with all the others are discontined? Wouldn't the replacement device on its own cause mixed signals in that area?
