Excellent video and fishing David. Great looking water and beautiful fish, that Nairn fish was stunning and what a great fight! Not always easy to land on your own, well done! Thank you!
Some cracking fish pal, good to know the Nairn is still fishing well. You have one more subscriber. Might go down to Pat Fraser's next year and get a ticket. I'm only on the top of the hill above Auldearn so it's handy enough. Well fished mate.👍
Nice fishes and epic scenery… a lil tip, next time you try to land the salmon when your bank is just a rocky shallow beach… just walk backwards and the fish will follow you and fall to its side. No need to use a net and try to reel it in, they dont like reeling, but you can walk then like a dog on a leache. Try it out
@@nairnfly I will definitely take you up on that offer. I'm going to Ireland to fish the Moy next month and had a heck of a time figuring out access, reservations, permits and the like.
Beautiful video. Love the Findhorn, it’s a stunning river and great to see a fish coming from the AA water. 3 superb fish, couldn’t place where you were on the Nairn? There’s been plenty of water in both rivers this year.
Has anyone done research into how catch-and-release fish fare? It would be interesting to microchip them to see if they make it up to the spawning grounds after expending all that energy. Nice video.
Thank you well thats a fair question. In my experience i have see very few dead salmon on a river other than if there has been an outbreak of disease. There are many stats available on the internet that show the same fish can be caught multiple times so perhaps they do ok, however a lot depends on how the fish is handled by the angler.
@@nairnfly I found this report which seems pretty encouraging. As you say though, a lot depends on the handling of the fish by the angler. www.wildtrout.org/assets/img/general/Impact_of_catch_and_release_angling_practices_on_survival_of_salmon_-_report.pdf

Cheers Guys ...plenty fish up north :)
@@nairnfly we,ll get up there at some point mate
Much enjoyed - thankyou!
Where were you on the Nairn?
Thank you Andrew the pools on the Nairn from first to last were Budgate, Wall, Dogleg, Milton. They are in the Cawdor area.
Stunning fish . What weight of line is that your using?
On the Findhorn am using a 13ft rod with an 8/9 line and Nairn its a 11ft switch rod also with an 8/9 line.
Catch a salmon then have to return it ,boring,,,,,,
Thats a great source of food .
Class as always davie 👌I have some footage at last 😂
It’s Jason btw 😊
