Great review. I Wish that the Hyundai Staria Minivan Would Come To The United States Market In The Future. Where Can I Get A Brochure Of The Hyundai Staria Minivan?
I was the lead exterior designer on the Staria and appreciate all your kind comments. The idea was minimalism and to make it look like none other van out there. Huge DLO and max visibility were also key goals.
Wow, thanks for your comment. Yeah, i really love the Hyundai Staria design. Big presence on the front facial and large windows all around makes it very unique and gives driver and passengers great view out of the car. Thanks Mykola.
You really are the designer for the Staria? Great job. As someone who lives in hanover, where the VW Bus is build and having driven the bus as a work vehicle and loved it, I had high hopes for the ID.Buzz. But it is such a letdown. The staria is so much more futuristic and with prioritizing DLO and visibillity you had the perfect focus. This, right after interieur space makes the likes of T5 and T6 such standout cars. But VW just cant deliver anymore. How can it be that an electric suv and a diesel van from Hyundai can deliver Vehicle to load functionality, but an ev bus from vw not? Would love to talk to you about the processes of designing such a car. It's such an interesting class because you have the people who just need to moove people but also you have the huge recreational market, where the likes of VW california and rivian show that demand is strong.
No, it is based on the N3 platform which is shared with Kia Carnival and many other models, too. Thank you for enjoying the new 2022 Hyundai Staria Review!
Yes, Joey. I love Kia Carnival, it is such a handsome and capable minivan. But this Staria is larger and more spacious, so one more option to choose from. Thanks.
Rear doors open on both sides! I've been in the automotive industry for 17 years and those doors cost a lot of money to manufacture and develop. That's a clear statement there from Hyundai!
I don’t mean to put a damper on this, but haven’t most minivans/passenger vans (unless they’re commercial based) had both rear sliding doors since the 2000’s? Nissan had theirs since ‘82 on the Prairie and it was popularized immensely in 1996 by Chrysler vans
Pretty sure this is a full-on Van. Those are 18" wheels with a lot of side wall to give you an impression of the general size. The host is over 6' tall. It also has a 3-person seating option which suggests it may be used for moving cargo.
I love this van! Hyundai needs to bring it here to North America; it's styling alone would make it a bona fide hit; especially with young families! But, I agree with you, Charlie. If I were in the market for a minivan, I would go straight to a Kia dealer for my Carnival. It has the family in mind first and that's what minivans are supposed to be all about. 🐰
This car is great for roadtrip with family.. large windows mean you can really enjoy the scenery. I'm not sure about the power train though, they should offer 2.5L turbo engine instead of 3.5L NA. Or maybe add hybrid to 2.5L turbo, this will be ideal.
Yeah, i think when you guys get the Hyundai Staria in US, then you will be getting it with 3.5L V6, same engine that can be found in Kia Carnival. Thanks Franky.
Very thorough and enjoyable video, great examination of details with great production additions, appreciate the typical shots of vehicles careening around corners with just a bit of tire squeal. Nobody pushes vehicles in real world cornering as you do. Your signature?
7:04 did you use speeding converters? Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Asia, Europe, uses km/h, but in the US, Belize, Bahamas, Virgin Islands (British and US), Palau, Micronesia, uses MPH.
I like the high seating position and small nose design of the Staria, it really improves frontal visibility. Also, the AWD option is a plus especially in colder or wetter areas, as here only the Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota Sienna provide that feature. It's unfortunate that it is not going to be sent to the USA, even as the Kia Carnival is doing pretty well here.
I like this model. If you want to take a comfortable ground trip, it looks like a nice choice. In countries like Ecuador, it would be a great van to buy, plus diesel here is cheaper than most countries in Latin America. Thank you for such a good review!!!!
I really do enjoy your reviews. I do admit to being a little jealous. 😀 I won't take a pick between the Kia and the Hyundai but I am impressed with the Staria. If anything, I would be buying the Staria Load and doing a camper conversion but I have told you all this before. Keep up these great reviews. Thanks. 😀
This minivan really reminds me of the older GM “dust buster” minivans from the 1990s, such as the Chevrolet Lumina APV and Pontiac Trans Sport, but with a much more rounded exterior. While it’s unlikely that we will get the Staria in the United States, I can at least say it is a nice looking minivan.
My dad is planning to buy the staria signature 9 version but the van haven't made a lot here in Indonesia. And also my dad wants to buy the staria because it's perfect for road trip with *LOTS* of people or a lot of suitcase and stuff.
While I appreciate the low loading floor, what happens when you need maximum cargo space? We can't fold the 3rd row into the floor and I'm not sure it can be removed nor really willing. Charlie on the other hand looks like he wants more Staria power. "Come on Staria!"
Thanks Charlie...yes robocop front look... how come the licence plate still bulb type?? Hmm... same as carnival.. I saw few in Sydney now.. but for delivery van
Charlie, you are doing awesome job! Please make one video comparing Genesis G80 and KIA Stinger GT. I will be very appreciated because I'm between those two
If you want the Genesis G70 in the US, then wait for the next model year. Hopefully things that are an option in Korea will carry over for the US-spec vehicle. Also, I would highly suggest putting on a front splitter. I just bottomed out a G70 and wish I had some sacrificial material to take the damage.
Love this... And it does remind me of a bullet train. Wheels look kinda small, for the body. I like that you actually push the vehicles' handling capability, no matter what it is. As a consumer, & car enthusiast, that matters to me.
Looks good. I currently run the Nissan Elgrand so I can carry two ebikes in the back.. if this can manage that it’ll be a nice upgrade when the time comes..
THIS IS ONE GOOD LOOKING VEHICLE, NO MATTER WHAT CLASS YOU WISH TO PUT IT IN, PLENTY OF INTERIOR ROOM, THEY NEED TO SELL IT IN AMERICA, 2.0TURBO, OR 3.5 V6. WITH GAS PRICES, DIESELS GIT LOTS BETTA MILAGE, MAKE THAT AN OPTION. GREAT REVIEW AGAIN. THANKS
I think the instrument LCD looks like it sits nicer than even in the Tucson. In the Tucson it just looks like it was plonked on top of the dash, not integrated nicely.
Beautiful futuristic roomy car the back lights looks more like the Mitsubishi Grandis minivan from the 90's the front exacte robocop ;D thankyou Asian petrol head for this great review video oboutthis new car from Hyundai 👌

Hey Charlie I think it looks pretty good but I prefer the Kia carnival over that.. I don't think they're going to bring it to the states unless it's electric then that would be nice!! I'm surprised it handled as well as it did it looked like a tall loaf of bread!! Overall I like it it looks a lot better than the Hyundai Entourage that used to be in the states that was pretty bad...
This van looks like the love child of a old Chevy Lumina APV/Pontiac Transport/Oldsmobile Silhouette van and a Toyota Previa from the 1990s. This van design was born from the Previa and Lumina APV.
Good to see they have included fold down armrest in front seats as in Australia they have none, not even in the Highlander top spec, Australia marketing have really missed a important factor for selling Staria as there omission will cost sales here……🤔
Do hit the "LIKE BUTTON, if you love Hyundai Staria. And let me know why you like it more than Kia Carnival.
Remember, you’re hitting Like for the video, not for the vehicle’s looks!
The high roof makes the Staria more comfortable to ride in. Kia looks cramped by comparison.

This is a very cool, futuristic design van. I wouldn't mind driving
Yes, Jay. I agree. It's not that hard to drive and Hyundai Staria is so much spacious compared to Kia Carnival.
I prefer this over the carnival since it's roomier and looks different than other on the road.. very futuristic.
Yes, exactly, Kia Carnival is a nice MPV, but if you need something large then 2022 Hyundai Staria should be a nice one for you.
Yes, Bill. Much better than Hyundai Starex. But yeah, if you want something for your family, then you should go with Kia Carnival.
This van looks like the love child of a old Chevy Lumina APV/Pontiac Transport/Oldsmobile Silhouette van and a Toyota Previa from the 1990s. This van design was born from the Previa and Lumina APV.
Yeah, this Hyundai Staria is so lovey because it has so much interior space. I hope Hyundai will export this van to US. Thanks.
Good to see they have included fold down armrest in front seats as in Australia they have none, not even in the Highlander top spec, Australia marketing have really missed a important factor for selling Staria as there omission will cost sales here……🤔
Really? I don't why Hyundai did that. Thanks for enjoying the Hyundai Staria review.
good review...nothing held back
Thanks Jay!
The front part reminds me of Estima in 90s..
Wow. Estima. Thank you for enjoying the Hyundai Staria review.
This would be something to have when you Uber or Lift. Very nice!
Yes, that would be really nice. Thanks for enjoying the Hyundai Staria review.
I hate the gloss black, my Ioniq after a while was all scratched up I put a dash kit on it to cover up most of the damage
Yeah, you have to be careful of scratch with high black glossy material. Thank you for enjoying the Hyundai Staria review.
The only thing I love more than a wagon is an MPV, and we don't get either in the US.
Yes, hope you guys get the Hyundai Staria soon in N. America.
