My cousin’s boyfriend is an avid trump supporter and spent the entire day the other day basically bragging about how my cousin and I are never going to have a say in anything again because trump was going to take our right to vote since we’re both women. I lost one of my best friends yesterday because she voted for Trump...again! I come from a military family and yesterday was Veterans Day in the US so I posted a thank you to all vets saying Happy Veterans Day "if you're not a sucker or loser." Well my friend is an ex Navy nurse. She and I have been through some shit in our lives and always had each other's backs, financially, health wise, through the death of my fiance, and all kinds of abuse and ups and downs in her life too. We met while living out of the country and became fast friends. As two American single women living abroad in a foreign land it was nice having a good friend to hang out with and have each other's back, but no more. We no longer live near each other, but have stayed in touch until now. That person was never really your friend. I had a similar experience of a 15 year "friend". One day she didn't respond to my text. I realized after asking her not to talk about politics many times - that she just wasn't able to respect my views and my family interests. So I blocked her from ever contacting me as well as all of the other "mutual friends " I walked away from all of them. I feel liberated. No more soap operas! I could not be happier living my life without all that crap. I have my family and my dogs! Love it!

What I'd been telling people--and gotten in arguments with some before the election--is that if they voted for a third party candidate--they voted for Trump. If they abstained from voting--they voted for Trump. That they were absolutely allowed, as a Constitutional right, to vote for the candidate they felt would best lead the country, but with those as solid caveats--if they did not vote for Harris, they voted for Trump. And if they voted for Trump, then they voted against not only my continued existence, but the existence of several of my friends, and loves. I am not at all surprised that there's been fallout.

I left and then divorced my husband of 23 years back in 2017 when he finally revealed to me his true, xenophobic thoughts and stance. It was the final nail in the coffin of our marriage. My older sister and I have never gotten along. Recently, now that we are in our 60s, she has begun to reach out. She won't admit it but I know she voted for Trump. It's mainly because they have the narrow-minded, fixed belief that abortion is always wrong, and they can never support a candidate who believes in choice. I'm seriously considering whether I can stomach seeing them after this. It's hard to pretend everything's cool with someone when you know they believe their religion should dictate what you can & cannot do with your body!

I haven't spoke to my brother since Trump's first election. He became just like Trump. Loud, obnoxious and abusive. We can't have him around our son. I have no respect for him. I was sooo disgusted that my husband voted for trump in 2016 because “he’s good for our business” I divorced my husband and took my half of our assets. It was the right choice. Now he voted for trump again and our daughter has distanced herself from him. He doesn’t see how voting against her reproductive rights makes her not want to be around him. DUH!!!!!

What I'd been telling people--and gotten in arguments with some before the election--is that if they voted for a third party candidate--they voted for Trump. If they abstained from voting--they voted for Trump. That they were absolutely allowed, as a Constitutional right, to vote for the candidate they felt would best lead the country, but with those as solid caveats--if they did not vote for Harris, they voted for Trump. And if they voted for Trump, then they voted against not only my continued existence, but the existence of several of my friends, and loves. I am not at all surprised that there's been fallout.

I left and then divorced my husband of 23 years back in 2017 when he finally revealed to me his true, xenophobic thoughts and stance. It was the final nail in the coffin of our marriage. I thought we were on the same page but for years he was just humoring me. I have 3 children, who are now adult men who support and stand against racism and misogyny and value all people and all women and stand up for the ones they love. They have little respect for their father and his biases. I am so glad, as difficult as it was financially, to have left and removed my children from the constant influence of he and his friends who all felt the same way.
