I have tried to set up my voicemail pressing and holding number 1. I keep getting a message that my "voicemail has not been set up"...duh! Of course not because that's all that happens. I went on your video for instructions, doesn't work. I have your Consumer Cellular tablet with the phone.
I had the same issue. On Android in your phone's "phone" app touch the 3 dot menu and navigate through: settings - voicemail - advanced settings - voicemail settings - voicemail number; enter your whole cell phone number here; then back out and dial in by holding 1.
Spent better part of an hour trying to get access to my mailbox..Reps were nice but they didn't resolve my issue. My mailbox had been set up for 10 years but when I upgraded to new phone they suddenly REQUIRED that I enter a PIN and account password to access mailbox. After resetting both, my mailbox said I didn't have MB set up and hung up on me. BUT Thank GOD for YT Comments...I was using Internet as phone service due to poor coverage in my residence...turned it off and used CC service and it worked! Won't waste my time with CC reps anymore.
I was just able to set mine up thanks to you! It would be so easy for CC to add, "If you can't set it up after following the instructions, remove your phone from wifi, press and hold 1, and follow the voice prompts." Very simple. Thanks!
this is not what happens whenever i press and hold "1"; instead, it asks to enter my voicemail mailbox number. duh, if i had one, o wouldn't need to do this! if i don't enter a number, it wont allow any other options. ☹️🤬
Gee Angel, aren't you afraid a complete stranger will take your phone, with the sole intent of accessing your voicemail??? /SARC Only someone like donald trump needs a password for voicemail for when he's denying to the 5th wife. STUPIDEST interface in phone history./
If anyone has issues, their voicemail system is IMEI matched. Moving from different carriers or getting a phone unlocked while having a number from them will need to be setup as such. Previous carriers could have issues when migrating.
Is there an icon for the bottom tray telling you you have messages or do you have to check yourself? My Verizon had an icon telling you whether of not you had any messages.
Wireless had to be turned off and I had to call customer service three times! I set up the voice mail. To turn off the password requirement, go into the voicemail once you set it up, l and when she starts speaking enter 42121 and the password requirement should be turned off to get your messages. Good Luck! Customer Service told me this trick. Also turn your wireless back on once you have your voicemail message set up and your passcode.
Omg, this worked, just turning off wireless. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I would like to turn off the password requirement but I am scared to try it! haha
Using your cellphone, dial your voicemail. If you have new messages, you can either listen to them or press * (star) to go to the Main Menu. If you don’t have new messages, you are already at the Main Menu. Press 4 for Personal Options. Press 2 for Administrative Options. Press 1 for Passwords. Press 2 to toggle between Password On and Password Off. It will say your password is on. To turn it off press 1.
Kept getting voicemail not set up yet message when called voicemail to set it up. So toggled airplane mode off and on in settings. Turn on then turn off. Worked!
Thank you Paul! That worked and I can't figure out why that simple instruction isn't the first thing they mention. You don't have to answer, but I am curious how you knew to do that? I had my phone over a week and couldn't get my voicemail to work so I just gave up. We had hurricane damage and I had to change services real quick and with everything else I had to do I just figured I'd never have voicemail again. I appreciate your information. It really helped me a whole lot while I was/am under incredible pressure around me from other important things. Even when I was repairing some siding on my house yesterday,, I just kept thinking, "I sure wish I had voicemail", because I had 20 pounds of tools on, I was on a ladder and there was no way I could answer my phone if I had to. That is how important what you shared was to me. Now I can at least have that important service I was used to and the stress of figuring that out is now gone from my enormous list of things to do. Thank you again!
Unfortunately this method did not work for me. I was recently switched to a different SIM card in my existing CC phone at the urging of CC. When I hold the #1 key, all I get is a voice saying this persons voicemail has not been set up and it hangs up on me. Time to call CC support I guess.
Just doesn't work, but I suspect that's because something is screwed up with my account. Any time I try holding '1' I get a recorded message saying "This user has not set up his voice mailbox yet" and the call gets disconnected. Catch 22 time...
Pray it never turns on if you don't key the password in right the first time, or people will call you and leave messages and you have NO IDEA who the F___ phoned you. And Consumer Cellular has *NO INSTRUCTIONS* on how to turn the MotherF*** off. nevermind, it's only ignoring your friends etc.
"This user has not set up his voice mailbox yet". I powered my phone off for a minute. Then powered on and that message went away and was able to set up voice mailbox by pressing 1.
@@joeb1776 Thanks, but the problem was resolved. My previous carrier had not released my number, for whatever reason. After going round and round the loop a number of times, I just said "Screw it", and told CC to issue me with a new number. Everything worked perfectly from that point onwards. CC's number transfer department, or whatever it's called, told me that they frequently had problems when a customer was coming from Tracfone, as I was.
I had the same problem - VM told me the box was not yet set up. I called CC at the 611 number, and they activated the VM instantly. Only thing is you have to call them from a different line. But they'll hook you up in minutes.

Holding down the 1 key absolutely does not work. yes I get a voicemail screen but it just says dial the 10 digit number you want to reach and there is nothing I can do with any of that. it is a very short prompt and then hangs up on me.
When I long press 1, it says, "I'm sorry, but the person you called has a voice mailbox that has not been set up yet, goodbye". I don't get any prompts to set one up because it hangs up. _Solution_ ****Thanks to a user (Paul) below, I found the solution is turning on Airplane mode, press "1" and it says you're in Airplane mode and to turn it off. I turned it off and then pressed "1" and the prompts were completely different and allowed me to set up my voicemail. This should be in your instructions, as it is the simple solution to a popular problem.***
Like many others when I press 1 it asks me my passcode which I do not have and I cannot check or delete my voice mail without it. It's frustrating, what do I do?
So, when I press 1 on my iPhone 11 keypad and hold it. I get an automated recording, "I'm sorry, but the person you called has a voice mailbox that has not been set up yet. Goodbye!" I'm SERIOUSLY within 24 hours of cancelling my Consumer Cellular service and going back to Verizon. Thumbs down for this "tutorial", and I RARELY give a thumbs down response to anything. Congratulations!
Nope! Pressing one did not bring up anything but a message that my call could not be completed. This is yet another process that they claim is easy. Nope!

Still happening. Why thye can't fix a common problem with this is beyond me.
This worked for me! The 1 key started the prompts to set up my voice-mail. So easy. Thanks!
On all my old phones I never needed a passcode which is what I prefer.
