Because of you I went and bought tools and built some shelves in the garage. It’s a bit crooked but it’s solid and it’s mine. Practice. Great videos
That was a good tip! I'm a carpenter and have not come across that trick yet. Thanks for posting this up Leah!
Kind regards,
Ben
you're welcome, Ben, and thank you for commenting!
What a clever cookie. Never seen that solution before. Just goes to show that you're never too old to learn something new! Thanks Leah. 👍
you're welcome, David!
Cool trick !
It's been some years since I watched one of your videos and always I find your calm demeanor and insightful knowledge to be refreshing
Wow! All I can say is Wow! Great vids, easy to follow, straight forward AND with a very pleasant demeanor. Now I wanna work with you, Leah. 😃🛠
Lol, not a very pleasant demeanor there, Ricardo.
Astromyxin, I apologize for a seemingly vulgarian response. It would appear that the internet has become a breeding ground for such loutish behavior. What makes it all the more reprehensible is that Leah's channel is very insightful and pleasant. Unfortunately, as is demonstrated by the spectacular lack of manners on Scotty's part, some imbeciles continue to troll otherwise friendly waters. Although I wouldn't consider apologizing for him, please accept mine. And for the record, I submit my apology to Leah Bolden for *my* rudeness. Mea culpa, Leah.
Just tag him for harassment or bullying and don't stoop to his level. Clowns pull you down and either beat you with experience or bathe in the success of bringing one into their pathetic club.
johnnybarbar very astute. Don't really like reporting anyone, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do....

You are an amazing teacher Leah! Thank you. You make quite everything look simple. Please keep on doing your videos for as long as you can! :)
you're welcome, and thanks, I will!
I love this lady. As a youngster, I would have loved to have a teacher like Leah!!! He voice is so soothing, too.
Glad you mentioned the cleat. The post would want to slide down the incline without it. Good video. There's other ways to do that, but it was good.
It's such a good feeling
To know you're alive.
It's such a happy feeling;
You're growing inside.
And when you wake up ready to say:
I think I'll make a snappy new day.
It's such a good feeling,
A very good feeling.
The feeling you know, that I'll be back
When the day is new.
And I'll have more ideas for you.
And you'll have things you'll want to talk about.
I will too.
Jane, you need a full show on TV!
John Dough I agree, let's do it!
i 2nd that!
You can never know enough....great tip...great presentation and explanation. Keep up the good teaching and thanks for sharing.
My wife loves your channel. Shes so proud to show me what she's learned from your videos on my job sites.
🙂
I can do anything electrical, I can get along in plumbing but when it comes to carpentry thank God for Jane. When it comes to explaining woodworking to five thumbed fumblers like me, she's the best.
thanks, Richard! :)
Your videos are awesome just love how you demonstrate tools. Thank you and much love keep on posting😁
Thanks Leah, I really appreciate your encouraging approach. Keep up the great work.
you're welcome, and thanks!
I've seen many of your video covering a variety of tasks. Whenever I need to know something, one of your videos shows up. You have helped me a lot. I subscribed. Thank you !
You're the Bob Ross of do it's! Make everything seems easy and easy to watch and understand. I can't imagine all the people who you have helped and will help in the future with these tutorial videos. Thank you for making these :)

You're well overdue for a tv show. Mrs Jane, you've got what it takes to have your own. Keep the great vids coming. Awesome job!
thank you very much!
Without a doubt one of the most helpful and pleasant DYI personalities on RUclips. I've learned so much from watching your videos. Thank you for the non-condescending and helpful content.
you have such great ideas and tricks Leah thank you
you're welcome, Chris! I appreciate it.
+seejanedrill well done girl...we use same methods in fabrication on site and in the ship yard only we use line of cords instead of the pointer angle here in the uk. love seeing women working like this. if you want it done today get a woman..you put some guys to shame..your cool
Always love your demonstration and smart solutions.
thanks!
That was great. You can always tell someone that really knows what they are doing, when they try and teach it. You're awesome baby. Keep up the good work
Thank you Leah! What you are putting forward for perfect strangers and future generations is such invaluable info. Your videos are so great and they really give me confidence to build new things.

You're the best. Thanks for doing what you do.
you're welcome, Scott, and thanks!
+seejanedrill so awsum thank u!
Every video of yours has blown my mind. You are truly a great teacher.
I like that you explain why the intuitive plan might not work, and how to insure a cut that will do the job. And thank you for speeding it up a bit. Easier to follow.
Well done, good stuff
thanks, David!
I guess Im kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
@Colt Braden Flixportal :P
@Eduardo Zayn thank you, signed up and it seems to work :) I really appreciate it !
@Colt Braden Glad I could help xD
Nothing new to me but great to see a woman carpenter! Love it!
No offense to anyone, particularly a real carpenter. This gal is not a carpenter. She uses shade tree methods and not those of a professional carpenter making a living off the trade. The "ends do not justify the means". In the real world of building, one would go broke following these tips. It is not enough to eventually get there. One needs to use tried and true production methods to be competitive in the market.
I learned way more in that short video than I came here for. Amazing stuff! Subscribed!
I've been searching for this for a project today and only you can make it so easy to understand.
I just can't comprehend the thumbs down on this perfect video, it's short and direct to the subject.
I'm guessing that "assholes" just can't give a good feedback!
Misogyny
.
This video is helpful, informative, and concise! However, the title contains " ... Without Measuring " . Which is not accurate since it uses a level to measure and mark. This could be the source of the down votes.
I don't think so, a level is not a precise tool to measure like a tape/rule, it's approximate at best.
as per www.merriam-webster.com : a measurement of the difference of altitude of two points by means of a level.
Precision does nott determine whether its a tool of measurement or not. Some rulers are more precise than others but they all still measure.
If it makes you feel better: YOU WIN!
I still think that thumbs down was wrong and I'm entitled to MY opinion...
as for the dictionary, I suggest you check it again:
www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/measurement
You rock!
I remodel houses n have been doing it for years.. I like to watch ur vids cuz I always get somthin new out of them that I can teach my guys... keep up the awesome job!!
It is always a joy to watch your videos. Being raised by a single mother has left me with some gaps in the knowledge that most boys get from their fathers. You really help fill those gaps. Your knowledge will be passed on to my son. I have no daughter, but to her too if God ever gives me one.
That's really nice, thanks, Jerry
Good tip Leah thank you. I like your energy it makes it hard not to watch. Enjoy the beer :o)
:)
or you could hold your post plumb and mark a line down the back. then you get the length and the angle in one go
adam garrett I feel like her method is actually better and easier, especially if the lumber is a longer 4x4. You only have to balance the level, which is smaller and lighter, and your line is visible as you're making it, and will likely be cleaner
Jon King hay whatever works for you man! you could mark plumb then hold your post up
how do you charge for the batter
Or...you can calculate the rise and run of the slope and find the exact angle. It is easier, quicker, and more efficient to use math to your benefit than some odd balancing act and a scribe. This is NOT a professional tip.@@toddmlynch8810
I can use trade norms to find angles way faster than calculations. I can do both and usually the tricks are faster and just as accurate.
one of the most useful shows I have found on RUclips, love the tips.
Great informative video, now why I had not thought of that is beyond me, I have always taken the level and used a scrap piece of plywood then made the small mark on the bottom of the level for my angled cuts, especially when I was doing landscaping work.
Incomplete solution. Plumb should be achieved at right angles. This only considers the plumb axis relative to the base's left to right pitch . But what if the base is also pitched front to back? It's a common occurrence and would require a compensating compound cut in this case.
If you wanna do it perfectly ,you'll have to use a solder, not a level...this way you are always in the right angle to the ground... ;-)
I bet you could have set that mitre saw first time if you wanted to you were just messing with us weren't you
Paul yates yeh she was showing example shut up
I wasn't even searching for this but from the very beginning you had my attention. Very good tip shown here. Thank you.
I love these videos. The small things really help speed through the day and produce a quality result.
I'm assuming this video is intended for beginners. If so, good job.
I didn't feel that way. I thought she did a very nice job in her video. Very helpful.
If her audience is dumb, at least she made them a bit smarter.
4nc3st0r For sure....great comnent!
4nc3st0r your an ass! I'd rather be dumb then you.
*Than*
Thank you! Simple and clear instructions with no fluff.
I've been watching her videos for a while. Excellent teacher, thanks for your videos!
Nice job on the video. Was listening on my blue tooth head set and was distracted from watching until you pulled the trigger on the chop saw. I instantly thought "that was a Dewalt". Went to the phone and backed the video up and sure enough looks very much like mine.
I started working with my Dad as teenager and he had me cutting trim with a mitre box with a back saw. I believe we bought the Dewalt in 1972 when we became partners but might be wrong. Built a long table for it right off and used it for framing and trim. Dad didn't like the idea of framing with it until he realized how much time it saved. In 1980 I started a plumbing company and used it for cutting pipe on rough ins. My crew thought I was nuts until they realized how fast it was and how much cleaner the pipe cuts were compared to the Sawzall and other cutters.
Still have it and still use it. I keep thinking I'd like to have a new fancy one but haven't got around to buying as I mostly do plumbing service now with some bath remodel.
How old is yours? Does the blade brake still work?
Been there done that on most of the stuff you do but still like to learn different techniques and ideas.
Thanks and keep the videos coming
Hello Rabbycacker, Wow, you've got me reminiscing, and we're both giving away our ages with our trips down memory lane, LOL. 20 years ago, the carpenter's foreman sold me that DeWalt for $100. Ted was his name, and each time he'd upgrade any of his tools, he'd sell me his old ones. Obviously, I still have the DeWalt (it's still a good, solid saw, just brakes slower) Interestingly, Ted taught me many tricks of the trade that I share with people today on RUclips. Thanks for commenting and I just might give Ted a call. It's been about 8 yrs. since we spoke and I wonder how he's doing.
WoW! I learn something from this lady every time I see one of the vids...Thanks a ton for posting it and keep em coming.
