Please pray for my church family. Yesterday morning an hour and a half be for church started our church secretary's dad was found by the door and had collapsed due to a stroke or heart attack. We were all in shock. The secretary was a a daddy's girl and I got to know them both better this pas spring. They were walking buddies and I can only imagine the pain she is going through. I really appreciate it.
He passed way yesterday morning.

When my biracial son was in the first grade he cried when the other kids said he was black. I said there is nothing wrong with that. Mommy is black. He cried harder and said no...you're brown. I asked what color are you? He thought hard for a moment then proudly exclaimed, "I'm peach!"
Lol cute story... but sad at the same time. form a young age it seems kids associate black as bad.

Yes, many studies have been done on young black children and racial identity. They are influenced by their environment. At the time, my son only knew COLORS and did not understand the concept of RACE.

I love that you are teaching your kids that being biracial is a blessing. My moms side of the family used to make me feel so bad for being mixed but I love who I am. Its too cool to experience two different cultures.
Lol when we asked my daughter what colour she was she answered white. I said no your black and white mixed together cos mommy is black and daddy is white. When I asked her again the next week she answered "I'm mixed up mommy". Could not stop laughing
My now 22 yr old son, noticing his dad is white and I'm black (at around age 4), was asked "Well what hat color are you?" - he says in ultimate cuteness...."uhhm kinda peach" LOL Love you guys to life! Blessings

Time to start having the race talk with your kids... age appropriate, of course, but the dialogue needs to happen NOW.
I LOVE that yall talk about race issues and self identity on your channel. I loved watching the purity of your kids thinking about the colour of their skin. When I used to teach grade 1 most kids would draw themselves white regardless of their race, but Midyear some of the black, Asian, and Indian children would start to colour their skin different colours. It was always an interesting development to watch unfold....in other news, now I want popcorn hahaha
Being like the 2 child to be mixed in my family I will forever be known as "the crushed Oreo cookie" 😂😂 My family can't seem to come up with better names.
I hope you have an actual conversation about race with your kids when they're old enough because it seems they're headed in the wrong direction. Your kids are light brown not white because they are mixed and its important that you tell them that so they don't grow up hating apart of themselves. No one is going to tell them that they're white...

My daughter will be 3 next month and is also bi-racial, mixed with white and black. I asked her a few days ago if she was black or white, she done the same thing Audri did. Looked looked at her arm and said, ummmm, white! Lol cracked me up. I love how kids doesn't classify people by race. I wish all people could be like that. You have a beautiful family with beautiful children.
I dropped my niece off at kindergarten with her Mom the first day of school. She didn't know anyone. She is a red haired and slightly freckled as you can get. mom and I were so lonely for her, until the end of the day. She walked out and hugged goodbye her new friend who was a beautiful little black girl with braids to her shoulders, That night I stayed late over there house because the girls wanted to have there hair braided alike . Friendship has no color, loneliness. has no color, god has no color. If adults and musician's 'would get out of the way and stop the racist words
it was cute. my kids are also mixed. so when a kid asked her in preschool why she had a different color mommy then her she said, "I'm peach and brown. my mommy is peach and my daddy is brown" kids have the best responses

My youngest son who is now 18 use to say he was white when he was 5 to 7, now he identifies as mixed (black, native American and Hispanic). Go figure

I loved this vlog!! I just wanted to start off with the photo that Britt showed on her phone....you guys were flawless! It definitely looked like a photo out of a magazine. Definitely on "fleek" lol.....and when Britt was standing by the bar/island/table thingy explaining all of the different photos, she looked absolutely gorge!..her 9mo pregnancy is definitely glowing. Also, I'm glad that you guys brought up the idea of kids referring to people as actual colors and not exactly race....because I also believe that race is something that is taught along the way of life. My daughter, who is actually three like Audrianna (who is also biracial) has recently started distinguishing people according to the color of their actual skin...and our conversations in regards are the most interesting, to say the least, lol. It is amazing to see how she responds to it all....but pretty much everyone is either "brown", "black", "white", or "peach"!....Kids are so innocent, pure, and honest; us parents have to be very mindful and even strategic on how we relay all of this information to them...we have such tough jobs, but it is worth it! My partner is a Maori (New Zealander) & I'm Australian.
Our 4 year old is always so open to expressing herself about colour to new people & some find it a little out there but I think in the end she is just proud & it's her way of showing it! Just recently I picked her up from kindergarten & her new teacher said she said "I'm white like my Mummy & my dog is brown like my Daddy"
We also have a 6 yr old who was never into her skin tone or anything the way our second is, I love how she's so open & accepting 😍

I love that you teach your kids about being both black and white. I'm white, my hubby is black, and we are fellow vloggers as well. We have always taught them to be proud of who they are and make sure that they know that they are half white and half black. We don't teach them to think they are just white or just black. I just did an Interracial Q&A on my channel which goes into more depth on how we feel about it all.

Lol audri kills me. I'm not mixed but I was the same color as audri when I was little and I used to think I was white too. As my moms first kids (and someone who's fully black) my mom was so concerned that I would have a complex lmao. She'll grow out of it. When's she's older she'll be proud to say she's a beautiful brown girl.

I am white and when I was a kid there was a black kid that came to his grandmother's on the outskirts of our street. He use to come and play with us kids. I never noticed him being different except he was black. Some of the neighbors would leave him behind when kids went in to play or get a snack. He could come right in my house and play. I never thought anything. One day the neighbors that we were good friends with were giving a party for their son. Bouncy pads etc. This boy Marcell was there , but on the property line watching . Then he was watching on his bike from the road. MY father came out went over and took me home from the party, took Marcell and myself to his grams asked permission and took us to a nearby farm market that had a mini zoo and ice cream etc. We spent a few hours there and had a great time. I was young but remember that my father couldn't stand that the neighbors wouldn't let him join in the party cuz he was black. My dad died when I was q13, but I will always remember that . I am 17 now and very proud of my father for doing something and not sitting back feel ing bad about it. There are good and bad people , big and skinny people, smart and happy people, rich and poor, beautiful and unfortunate. It has nothing ( should) have nothing g to do with race.
my daughter is not mixed in the sense of race but when she was younger she always thought my mother was white because she was light skinned so when ppl asked her what was her race she would say my mother was white till I of course corrected her and told her that we are completely black.
Race is definitely not a thing kids think or worry about.

I’m black and white and when I was younger I really didn’t understand. I would get upset when people called me white because I use to always think I was just black. Everyone around me was black so I just wanted to fit in. When I finally realized what I was I was so happy and proud.

i respect the nive nulls making efforts to teach their children about race, especially as a mixed race couple. sometimes mixed couples try to do the colorblind thing and its often a detriment to their children. you all dont have to explain that ur just kidding, you're doing what you need to do for your children.
My elbow is brown! Lol! I don't remember when I realized I was biracial (I'm half black & half white too). My dad was never in my life and even though my mom was white we went to a black church and I was always around different races. That's crazy I don't remember!
