They were built on SEPARATE assembly lines. Supercharged 443 HP. Better than my 75, 82 or 96 Vettes. My 2008 has the 6 speed automatic. 33K miles. Going for $60k Cdn. these days.
This is 2024.. I fell in love with this car a couple months ago and researched it. It seems that I should have bought one three years ago when they were inexpensive! Even so, I found a garage queen for sale with less than 34 K. in February.. in Michigan. Here.. winter is the very best time to buy a sport vehicle of any kind. I think I got a GREAT deal on her.. but not compared to three years ago.. in the warmer states. They are becoming increasing rarer than they already were.. even here in the "rust belt".
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction Thank you! I got my first real ride during a break in the weather yesterday. I put about 50 miles on her just around my county. She loves it here and so it seems does everyone else whenever I stop because she is SO unusual.. even rarer than a C6. I have many lauds to grant to this car so far.. but I was not prepared for two of the following disappointments. People like to hear about stuff like that don't they? Foremost.. I think the outside driver's rearview mirror covers too much of my view. It is huge and stylish and matches with the lines of the car.. but I'm not used to that much of my side vision being hidden. My second gripe is more of a personal nature I have longer legs than torso. I prefer to sit high and all the way back. This car shares the same gripe I have with my C4 Corvette.. that cannot both sit up and lean back at the same time.. my preferred position. The one in my '03 DeVille.. who's seat I don't actually have all the way back. I wish there was a recess for the back of the seat to go into.. even an inch. Oh well.. you can't have EVERYTHING right? People won't realize what an amazing engine the Northstar actually is until they have owned a couple of the new improved models.
I read many of your comments complaining the they should have put an LS engine in the XLR. I disagree. I HAVE an LS2 engine in my '05 Pontiac GTO. She too shares a Corvette platform. The GTO has a six speed stick. The XLR has a six speed automatic. That alone is a game changer. I come from the land upover.. where cars don't last long without cover. Sorry, I was referencing my GTO's Australian heritage and since somehow came all that way into my driveway in Michigan seems to be almost a miracle. The GTO along with the XLR is another of those overlooked gems. She indeed HAS a LS2.. 400 hp. and 400 ft. torque. impressive enough for her day. But I tell you what... the GTO is useless in the snow. The torque.. no matter how softly you apply it.. always is too much for snow or ice. The same thing WOULD apply to the XLR IF she had an LS engine. The XLR is not meant to handle the brute forces of an LS. The Northstar engine is different. It winds out more the more you push it.. but can be gentle as a lamb when you don't. Thus the ice and snow analogy. Don't buy an XLR for it's performance but for it's balance of power to weight as well as it's balance OF weight. Like me, she does nothing great.. but she does nothing poorly either.
Oh man that is one schweet caddy! we should race the hearse against it lol! You were amazingly calm with that truck pulling out in front of you like that.
I would say there is marginally more room in the vette but I don't think you will be uncomfortable. Great cars and a lot of fun to drive. Best of luck!!
Yeah on those GM's ever since the mid 90's those plastic bezels around the seats have a tendency to get old and break away from the seat. You may have to actually buy the piece to fix it. Those are nice cars but can be fairly high maintenance.
I’ve seen these and assumed they were Corvettes skinned as Caddy’s. I’ve watched 2 min & already informed. Kinda frowning. Just not a Northstar fan. Back to your vid...
That top operation is intense! The height! Nice that it needs nothing but a seat trim piece. Thanks for sharing.

Just bought Red 04 XLR Don Peterson San CLEMENTE. Original owner added new exhaust with Chrome pipes.
Great cars!!

That could be an epic race my friend
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction Let's do it! Bob thinks you'll win lol!
@@brunokinghearsinaround6158 it would be epic lol
Looking at one now, 2005 100,000 but for a great price. How much room i'm 6'2 200, had a 2002 corvette and that was comfortable

Watch for oil pan leaks

Yes sir...I'm hoping it doesn't cost too much to maintain and I can enjoy a few miles from it. Fun car, thanks for watching
@@ExtremeAutomotiveAddiction Always do :) Enjoy the old girl, she's still very pretty to look at.
