Hey Buddy. How the phynn system going long term? What’s the shortest amount of time you can have it turn off the water if it detects a leak in away mode?
I installed Phyn Plus last week, as Phyn learning our habit I go into Water Events and edit the events, after few days I noticed that Phyn recognized when the toilets flushing or I turn on the sinks , it take Phyn 2-3 weeks to learn, hopefully by then I do not need to edit events and can turn on the auto shutoff.
A couple of notes: 1- From what I managed to read on it, it can be installed with PVC pipes, but some competing products should not be installed on PVC. www.phyn.com/wp-content/uploads/SNWA-Final-Review-on-Leak-Detection-Device-Performance-Testing.pdf 2- You mentioned the well pressure sometimes is high. You may require a PRV between the well and this device. At ~16:40 it shows the water pressure to be 80 psi. For residential settings I am accustomed to seeing water pressure between 40- to 60- psi. I appreciate the installation video. I learned a lot of new things. Would I be incorrect in assuming that this product will last longer than a Flo Moen device since it calculates water flow and pressure using ultrasound? I am assuming temperature is obtained using a thermocouple. Is it measuring water temperature, or is it measuring air temperature?
Apologies for the delayed response. I honestly don't know that this will last longer than the Flo Moen. The biggest reasoning for me purchasing this over the flo was no service charge. The temperature being displayed is the water temp, I am not sure how they measure the temp.
I like it a lot and am definitely happy with the purchase. Have had a few problems with the auto shut off but they have only come from running an outdoor spigot for thinks like running a sprinkler or filling the pool for example. It does run a pressure check every night shutting off your water for about 15 minutes but you can control what time it will do that so I set mine to run at 4 am. Overall no major complaints would buy again.
@@TrevsGarageHi Trev, I'm about to get a Phyn Plus, but I worry that because it's running Plumbing Checks every night, some moving parts may wear off over time. Can you schedule it to weekly for example? Also, do you have experience on how small of a leak it can detect through these checks? Flo by Moen claims 1 drop per second, so I'm curious to have some real user experience data to compare. Also, do you feel that it shuts off water faster at night that during the day when suspecting a leak? Where we typically use little or no water during the night, and that's when usually pipes break (vs during the day). Thanks!
@@vincentroy5093 I just looked through the app and I do not see any way for you to schedule the plumbing check to run less frequently than everyday. I agree it could cause moving parts to wear out but on the contrary it is probably good for the mechanism to be exercised as well so it wouldn't potentially seize up. I do not know off the top of my head how small of a leak it can detect. I also unfortunately, but fortunately have very little experience with the leak detection due to the fact we have had no leaks. Sorry I do not have more feedback, I would definitely say direct a few of your more technical questions to the actual Phyn customer service / sales. I spoke to them and they were very knowledgable and informative.
Thanks for sharing, exactly what I was looking for. Question, couldn't you go with a 1" shark bite to 3/4" female NPT and skip the Phyn connector and connect it directly to the Phyn without the Phyn connector on either side?
Paul great question. The reason that I did not do that is because the threads on the Phyn unit are NPS threads. The female end on the provided coupler was a NPS and the male end that I used for the 3/4 to 1inch adapter was NPT. While NPS and NPT threads are similar they have slight differences. NPT threads are tapered and NPS threads are straight so given that the threads on the phyn are plastic I did not want to risk trying to mix and match them since if you mix NPS and NPT there may not be a great seal. Hope that helps!
Be advised to receive the additional 1 year warranty you must purchase from and have this device installed by an Upnor pro squad plumber. We are snowbirds we have a FLO by Moen installed in our 2nd home. We purchased the FLO protect subscription that extends the warranty to 5 years. The FLO software allows us to create exceptions when the device is in an away mode .i.e every Saturday between 8:00-12:00 allow a user defined flow rate and duration. This allows our house sitter to run facets to water plants. The PHYN away mode will turn off the water after one minute. This is a problem when the whole house humidifier turns on with each furnace cycle in the winter.
I think its great! But if it happens like in last storm in Texas then no internet and no power! And if you happen to be away from home!🙈😳 will be entirely useless ! But love the idea!
Warning people- auto shutoff valve will stop working after the warranty. Phyn recommended that I buy another one for 20% discount. Fool me 2nd time, It's my fault.

How does it detect which toilet it flushed? I got 3.
Or how does it knows between a patio hose bib or sprinkler system?
God bless.

So you've had this a month plus.... How do you like it? Does it randomly shut off? Long showers cause problems?

@@TrevsGarage Got it! Thanks for the clarification!
