Loving all the fools on here thinking skinny tires will drag your truck through 4 feet of snow. Awesome video, that's a nice k5

I used to lower the tire pressure like you have to do on sand and I didn't spin so much in the snow

Both are good platforms. Chevys are relatively easy to build and usually cheaper than ford.

Is everybody rocking a Dana 60 up front or any d44s still? I just got 40s but I know I'm beyond pushing the limits of a hp44. Solid Spicer extreme u joint and chromoly axles 'm hoping the hub locks are the fuse. If not the 5.38 ring and pinion is gonna pop like nothing lol

@@lol123321123321 most the big rigs I run with are running built one tons. My one tons are semi built. But I don’t have the power to really destroy stuff. A couple buddies have gotten away with running 41-42s on a Dana 44 with rcvs and 5.13 gears

@@89SnowK5 Thanks for reply! I'mma be giving it a shot this winter on 40" baja boss and hp Ford d44 with chevy brakes, knuckles, hubs, etc. Rear Ford 9" with Yukon big bearing third with 35 spline axle shafts so no worries there If it breaks I'm gonna do the mod for Ford hp dana 50 gears into a 44 housing and rcvs. Definitely should hold up well enough then. Minus the small knuckles and ball joint separation.

@@lol123321123321 ya if your rigs weight isn’t outrageous, my k5 is 6k pounds, and doesn’t have serious power it should be fine, especially if you’re snow wheeling.

@@89SnowK5 yup, strictly doing this setup for snow. Light Cherokee, stock engine and 5 speed. Running 39s on steel wheels, swapping to alloy beadlocks and 40" baja boss just before winter. I'm thinking it will hold up with the low power and weight. Need a atlas or homemade 231 doubler but she'll do with the 5.43 rear and 5.38 front gears and singke low for now

Those wide tire don't go good in deep snow, the snow packs up in front, it holds you back. Tall skinny tires cut through snow, they work better. If you drive any Ford, you can forget off-roading.

I have pulled three chevys out of mud and other crap with my Ford mostly because of stupid drivers also because they broke front cv joints in there Ifs . The independent front suspension system chevy built is garbage. Shortly after watching this video I watched a K5 blazer stuck in snow in his front yard. So I will take my old Ford pickup out in the woods and mud and run against chevys anytime
