I’m from this town, and whenever I listen to this poem I can’t help but cry. It’s like a good kind of hurt? Like someone noticing the pain you’ve been going through and saying ‘I see you suffering. It’s ok’
Wow, I choked up when he brought back "i defy the devils of hell". Reading his latest book on Tribe this week. I am his fan now!
This was just as beautiful as the defiance Ohio’s music, I’m from Maryland and every lyric of there music, and every word of this speech resonates with me
I keep coming back to this video. It’s amazing, beautiful, and an exhaling breathe of honesty.
I discovered this band a decade ago while in highschool. Id never wanted to see another band in person more.

Defiance is pretty cool except the drugs. drugs is a huge thing. but it his getting better now. this is where i live.

@@jasondewyse7143 yeah I’m only 23 so I can only judge from my perspective but I’ve definitely seen it worse and it might’ve been a lot shittier before I was born but Defiance has definitely been doing better recently. Hell they even have a Skate shop, a new tattoo place, phenomenal record store, more great restaurants, and I expect the town to keep growing.

This is very interesting. I grew up 15 minutes from this town and worked at the Taco Bell there for about 7 months. I’ve seen a lot of junkies, a lot of potheads for sure but this adds a whole new perspective to the town I grew up around. I listened to a few songs from the band here and there like 5-6 years ago and this intrigues me. Thanks very much for uploading.
