(If you want an explanation as to why the pantograph was down, why it wasn't taken out of service or how the lead car is still powered or something then go to the description)
This is an individual video taken from this video ruclips.net/video/Tr8dpMamON8/видео.htmlsi=BqcGlCEzN2NTolft . I asked you guys if you wanted me to upload this segment separate because this one, as we can all see, features an interesting catch in which one pantograph on the train is down. If you wanna see the full video then click that link if it even lets you. If not then just go back a bit on my channel in the "Videos" section and you'll see it.

Hopefully they will replace the pantograph with a new one without the sparks from the overhead power lines. I remember that one time when I was on the orange line heading to CityPlace, the entire train lost half a bit of power inside, cause of a crazy spark from the pantograph itself, and after it stopped, it kicked back on. There was also another video where the green line was almost having trouble trying to move due to snowy weather conditions, and both the three cars with the pantographs all sparked like crazy.

Former Dart Rail Operator here. Most likely the carbon had worn off and caused the sparking. The operator would have had to active a "BYPASS" switch for the pantograph to be lowered down. If you have 2 or 3 cars connected, called a consist, and you hit the "LOWER PANTOGRAPH" button, ALL pantographs will lower. It's actually a common problem. If you notice the over head wire zig zags so it doesn't wear down just one spot on the pantograph.

That definitely makes sense. I have heard of multiple instances and seen one where the pantograph has sparked, caught fire or broke completely. I have seen those buttons in the cab but it's not really something I remember or whatever. I've seen the lower pantograph button used on a deuce or 2 pack before. I would also definitely say it's an insanely common problem because in September alone I heard of probably about 5 to 7 incidents involving the pantograph being damaged on a train and heard of a couple times when they were sparking

@@dfwrproductions I had a part break, and the wire height changes, so I made it to Victory Sta, and then, NO POWER. The Overhead wire was higher than the pantograph was at and it would not go up or down. They had to single track and then shut down power so that a mechanic could climb up on top of the train, and tie down the pantograph and have it towed to NWROF yard. I just took the next train Northbound and got off at Bachman and got in my truck and went home. (My shift was over)

@jimmybristow9258 That is certainly very weird but interesting. I've only been hearing more catenary & fleet issues this year especially during & after the State Fair where they can't even maintain 3 cars on the Green Line anymore. Makes me wonder how much of the fleet is still in good shape and runs without issue honestly
