I 💗the designs you created on the coasters! And I agree w/ the person who said they looked like planets in a galaxy or beaded bracelets. That's exactly what I was thinking, too - so cute! And omg - that mandarin orange marker was totally being the Warner Bros. singing frog who just sits there and goes "ribbit" when the spotlight is on him, lolol 😂

Hope you have a fabulous week and that your dad gets through everything okay that you are dealing with right now. Praying for your family. See you in your next video! Thanks again!
Hi Lindsay, would you mind please seeing if coloured pencil will go over the top of the dried paint. I’m interested to see if they will block out colouring page lineart and then be able to colour over with prismacolour. Also the way I get the plastic off new markers is to twist the lid until the plastic pops open. I have problems with my hands & this is the easiest way for me. Thanks for the video! 🫶🇦🇺
Thank you for such a professional review. My number one favorite overall markers are Ohuhu alcohol markers. I will continue to keep an open mind about all types of markers/ paint pens !
I appreciate the honest review. I think if these are popular, they might come out with more colors. But it stinks that the metallic ones have stopped working already. Pretty colors, but I will check out others which seem to offer more value. Thank you!
Another great review 😊 whenever I’m interested in an art product I always come to your channel to see if you have done a review . Thank you Lindsay your videos are always awesome . God bless
Honestly the wineglass idea is good. I’d only suggest bulk buying a plain type then decorate according to each person and label them so that it’s a personalized keepsake to take with them. Like a cute party favor. Or as an alternative you could have a little decorating party with artsy inclined friends and have them decorate their own party favor (cup, glass, jar, mug, etc)
I have about 50 Copic markers and about 12 of them have loose caps and are drying out. That's a lot. Big regrets about bothering with them. I've had mixed success with rehydrating them with their bottle of colorless blender, depending on when I've caught the drying out. I refuse to buy refills to reward the low quality. On the other hand, my Ohuhus are older than the Copics, and are going strong, juicy, fun, nice quality barrels and caps and not dried out... For acrylics, I would definitely choose Posca over Copic, if I'm getting a name brand. The metallics on both are pretty. But yeah, the price is more for the Acrea and because of history I worry about the quality. Thanks for another video! I'm sure because the subject is Copic, it'll be especially popular.
Update, the gold and silver were not working well when I went to use them today and they were stored flat, I shook them and reprised them.stick with posca.
And this is why you are my number one go to for reviews on art supplies, because you are so thorough. 💕I’ve been trying to figure out if these were available for quite some time and no one can answer that question thank you. I would I agree with you 100% I really thought these were gonna be amazing coming from Copic, refillable all that good stuff, and it’s not. I think this is for that person who needs that name on their products more than anything else to be honest with you because they’re definitely a lot less expensive brands out there that are much better. You are the best Lindsay 🤗💕
Someone pointed out that the body is almost identical to the new Sharpie acrylic markers, I wonder if they are from the same factory. Sharpie is half the price tho.
Have you tried the new Altenew acrylic markers? Volume 1 has 24 colours and the markers don’t require priming which is great. They sell regularly for about $25.
I have, and to be totally honest, I didn't think they were anything special. That said they were designed to go with some paint by number cards and that's not a project I enjoy so take my reaction to them with a grain of salt.
Thanks for testing and reviewing them, Lindsay! I recently bought some Posca pens, so I wouldn’t buy those. But I doubt I’d buy them if I hadn’t just gotten some Poscas 🤷🏻♀️. I do love those coasters! I would consider getting some of those if they sell them 😬
The would be great to add highlights and other details to a watercolor painting. Those seem very nice! Wow. Great review Lindsay! Addition: I think the cost per pen, will make them not as obtainable to a lot of artists or crafters. I use the cheaper ones from Walmart, and a pack of 8 or ten was around ten or fifteen dollars. I'll probably stick with those.
Thanks as always Lindsay! ❤ I know it takes a lot of time for you to do these videos for us but this time I will just stick with my Tooli acrylic markers. Family owned, so many different colours from jewel to earth tones to pastels. And only ~$2 each in most sets .😊😊😊
If you get pens wrapped like that sometimes you can just twist the cap and the plastic will break. Coasters came out great. Thanks Lindsay! I will stick with the Posca's I have.
I don't have these but paint pens are my favorite medium. I use many brands and find almost all are waterproof with oven setting. (Completely dry items in cold oven, set to 350° and bake for about 45 minutes, turn oven off and let cool completely in closed oven). I paint all kinds of oven safe things like this. Posca still rules!
26 years, I think copic has unrealistic expectations that it is still 1998 and they are the best thing on the market. Luckily for us we do have much more affordable options. Which is why we watch the FRUGAL crafter 😂. 😊
Hullo Lindsay, I remember my first paint markers were POSCA’s for painting a holiday window display! My first alcohol markers were Copic’s because they were simply the BEST alcohol markers made, with replacement nibs and re-fills of inks you just could not get better markers! Now Copic appears to be just another company “making” Chinese knockoff’s! I believe the “BEST” brush acrylic markers are the ones from Karin their Deco markers are just some of the best out there! They use acrylic ink technologies that keep the paint flowing and the pigment in the Deco line creates long lasting images. If I were going to tell someone to buy a certain brand I would say Sharpie! Yeah weird right? Sharpie has caught on and they are making brush and hard nib paint markers with the acrylic inks that just last and last. I believe they look quite similar to these Copic pens. Save your money and buy the budget markers. If you want versatility? Get Molotow for refillable markers, wide to ultra thin nibs, they even sell empty markers! They work well on brick! Great for the graffiti artist or mural painters too! I hope you are doing well and keeping yourself taken care of too! See ya next video!
I watched this video only because of what you wanted to call it but didn’t (I kinda wish you went with the original name :D ) but mostly to support your channel that I love. Maybe you would get more views if the video included the actual name of the markers and the word „review“ for people looking for that, but I am sure you thought of that already. I love that until the end you try to find good things about them even when it keeps getting harder and harder 😅
These markers seem nice but I was more impressed by the Ohuhu acrylic ones you showed in another video, however I have not been able to find those yet anywhere I can buy for Xmas. I am hopping they will be available for my birthday in February :-)
When I saw these shown by another youtuber recently, I was thinking they also reminded me of the really fine artistro ones too. I wonder why they went with the ultra fine plastic nibs vs the the slightly larger felt nibs or even the brush ones. I find I only use the ultra fine set of artistro ones I have if I really really have too. I don't love the scratchiness or unexpected splatters the plastic nibs have. Maybe they will come out with different nibs later that would them more worth it. Ink flow is also a struggle with that style. I would have thought they would have learned from the existing market before launching, but that is just my opinion.
@@thefrugalcrafter Yeah, that sucks. I will say for gold markers I have found one I ABSOLUTELY love. It is oil based, and it stinks but it is beautiful. I have even used it on wood, including the bark on wood. It is the DecoColor Premium Prime pemio marker gold leaf. Mira Byler shared it in a few of her videos and it is super cheap and super lovely.
If these Copic paint markers are not a super wow to use or priced reasonably and/or refillable, I'm not so sure they stand a chance of being a strong competitor against Posca and other big brands (see below) or just the popular but smaller brands. that are mostly sold on Amazon and made in China. I'm thinking the acrylic marker market is getting pretty saturated, so another release of acrylic markers, even by such a power brand as Copic ( who, after the pandemic, I think been on people's S list for their much higher prices of their beloved alcohol markers and refills that are now much smaller.) p.s. if you're a serious acrylic marker artist/user, Molotow, a German brand and Montana, an American brand make very high quality refillable acrylic markers with mix and match application nibs & roller tops and larger paint containers with variable screw on applicator lids, along with spray paint that's always locked up in arts/crafts shops, They are kind of geared to graffiti and large mural outdoor artists, but they cater to the regular art world too. Amazon sells Molotow sets of 8, ONE4ALL markers for $42. Ouch, yep, pricey, but here's a description of them; "Acrylic-based hybrid paint is UV and weather-resistant for highest opacity."😮
It is definitely a saturated market right now! I think it was a bold move for them to do a new product that's not refillable and made in China when Poscas are cheaper and made in Japan, a country known for exquisite pens and stationary. It feels like Winsor & Newton sending stuff to China.
They ate genuine, Copic sent then to me to promote. Why are they made in China? Because it's cheaper and a company can make more money. It's the same reason Winsor & Newton moved making their cotman watercolor and professional watercolor markers to China. Money.
A lot of companies are pulling manufacturer of goods back to the US. Trump is saying he is going to be charging a big tariff for all imported items. These look ok, I still love my Karin Acrylic Pens. My Karin pens do not do that, they activated and wrote with no issues.
@@thefrugalcrafterI'd love to see more American brands being made here. But a major return of manufacturing to the states after decades of cheap foreign labor cannot happen overnight. It could take years. And technology has changed things so drastically too. it's not like we can simply return to 1955. Is there some idea that we're just gonna have pop-up factories with pop-up workers? Plus US workers would need to be paid so much more than Chinese workers. If we weren't so deep in debt to China and hadn't given over our manufacturing to them for so many years, bringing things back might be easier. From what I understand, though, the plan of implementing high tariffs in expectation of stopping excessive US importing, is only going to cause a real crisis of negative consequences.
If I buy a Japanese brand marker i want it to be actually MADE in Japan. I stopped buying Windsor&Newton because of that, call me weird, I dont know but I like having products from different countries and that the money of making them goes to that actual county that developed that craft supply. To the original brand and if possible original family owners. I just think it would be a nicer world if we all did and I try to do my little part whenever possible and if I have the information.
@@thefrugalcrafter Interesting! It mentioned how Blick's website says they are "designed in Japan" and the writing on the actual pen is Japanese. Yet the pen says "made in China." I was wondering what the difference might be between "designed in Japan" and "made in China." It sounds like Copic is pushing its Japanese roots but having the pens made in China.
Sorry I would NOT spend the money on copic. My son bought copic for my birthday one year and they dried out. Cheap markers from 5 below worked better and still work til today. So don't waste your money on copic...
