Love this guy. He gave a two hour question and answer talk at Cornell, where he is an associate professor, and was wonderfully witty and generous with his time and hilarious remarks.

I was at that show in Thousand Oaks CA the day after the election and he is 100% correct. The audience was numbed by the events of the previous day and we were desperate for a good laugh...and John and Eric provided it perfectly. The woman he mentions at the end is an example that people don't necessarily agree with everything Trump says, they project onto him the qualities they want him to have, and they weren't voting for him they were voting against what they believe to be a negative situation in the country. John Cleese isn't the best person to be delivering this stuff though. Anyone could say the same thing and be assured of approval. It's decades since Cleese was cutting edge or even relevant, and since he achieved the status of 'national treasure' all those years ago I'd say he's been dining out on it ever since.
