    Thank you. I was getting stuck with that stop pin. It was so bad it felt like someone last the original and bought one at the hardware store to get by. That method of leaving that screw out was easy. It will me go to for Spyderco back locks

    Robocalls; how have we not found a solution? At least knives have approachable solutions to their problems. Great re-assembly! I've actually flexed handles like these to center the blade. Not ideal, but what is.

    Nobody on the entire internet has done a Breakdown and Maintenance video for the Spyderco Cricket... I took apart the Etched Cricket and couldn't figure out how to put it back together.. thankfully most of the screws on the cricket are all sized specifically for the hole they are supposed to go in so if it doesn't fit it's pretty apparent. You should do one for the Cricket if you get the chance :)

    Fitting the back lock like this is how old school slipjoints are assembled, except that they would use a vice rather than their fingers!

    Hello, Mr.Shabazz.
    😅👍Your humor is what makes this channel so great.
    Always interesting, the dismantling VIDEOS. Thanks for your very good videos.
    I ❤️ the new Spyderco Police. First of all, it's nice and light than the previous models.
    Have you already examined the new MKM Goccia? A really exquisite Italian knife. Especially the variant with the titanium handle scales.🤫
    Have a nice day.🤠

    The post that is wiggly looks like it has a cut out on the scales that will probably make that wiggly go away when assembled. You can see a slightly milled out area on the FRN. What I'm saying is the loose hole may have been intentional. Why? I don't know why, I'm not an engineer.

    Nick. Not about this knife but since you seem to have a scientific mind I wondered if you had ever tried or thought to do an experiment with some of these nano ceramic sprays for protecting you knives? I know that Flitz says theirs will protect a blade for a year. I thought maybe since these are more of a hard wax coating than an oil film it might be less inclined to attract dust and dirt.

    I am strugggling to decide on the police 4 in K390 vs the VG10 version. I am newer to these steels and wonder which is better for my given purposes. I live in southern Ontrio Canada so humid in the summer wet in the harsh frozen winter (drastic temperature flux) and I want the big blade for outdoors woods and carry. Anyone that could weigh in would be appreciated thanks

    • @aaronkahn-bork1120
      @aaronkahn-bork1120 3 года назад +3

      Vg-10 has better stain resistance and is easier to sharpen. K390 will hold its edge an insanely long time, but is a little harder to sharpen and a little more likely to rust. I’ve noticed it rusts much less than my other non-stainless knives, so as long as you’re a competent sharpener and don’t plan to leave it soaking wet, I’d pick k390 easily. It’s my favorite steel by far. If you’re just learning to sharpen, VG-10 might be the better choice for now.

      @aaronkahn-bork1120 3 года назад +1

      @@tunturikuningas5393 I try to be careful about that word because it means such different things to different people. It definitely has amazing edge strength and stability and as a result impact toughness, but technically “toughness” without clarification applies to its ability to withstand lateral force. No knife is a pry bar, but if I had to abuse one like that I’d actually be much more comfortable with VG-10 than k390.

    • @CKshouta

      Vg10 is not as bad as people say it is.
      However you should also consider cold steel voyager if you want a stainless XL folders around $100USD. Imho cold steel voyager in AUS10 is overall a better knife than the police 4 in VG10

    Big knife with little tiny washers. I guess that is the unavoidable price for the back lock.

    • @pomprocks
      @pomprocks 3 года назад

      I'd still pick tiny washers over ball bearings. Bearings only touch in a few points and are much more likely to damage the blade steel if something is tweeked. And bushings don't need much for maintenance.

    • @matusknives
      @matusknives 3 года назад

      @@pomprocks I was not hinting at bearings (and in fact prefer washers myself), just at the diameter of the washers given the length of the blade. Also, there is no bushing in this pivot.

  • @jeffhicks8428

    I love ya Nick, but somehow I don't think you're an expert on Stalin. Never understood the American tendency to insert random foreign figures which are commonly demonized in our culture into a sentence like that. Someone will make a point about some American figure they understand, then immediately compare them to some long dead foreign boogeyman who they seem to think was some living cartoon. Let me put it this way. There's a reason Stalin still to this day is hugely popular and well respected inside his own country. If he was so awful to his own people, do you think that would be the case? You know who does hate him though? His enemies, mostly foreign. Go ask Iraqis what they think about Saddam. He's hated and reviled by the vast majority of that population, though most will still say those days were better than what's come since we took over. That's a tough one cuz we actually put Saddam in power in the first place, in that 1979 coup, and we armed him to the teeth while he fought a proxy war with Iran on our behalf. He was loved in the US at that time, in fact he was given the key to the city of Detroit by the mayor. True story. Funny how that works.

    • @NickShabazz
      @NickShabazz  Год назад +1

      Absolutely true. There are always people who love 'strongman' authoritarians. That's a pattern as old as time, and seemingly neverending. But there's also a selection bias inherent when people who dislike a person and the policies are no longer around to say so.
