Most PCB design software should give an option to export a 3D STL model of the board

@@willj476 3MF format is the best !! :). .STL format is quite old and you can't do many stuff with it.

Nice video Robert. In your next video you should create the PCB replica with 3D printer :)
This is the most useful use of 3D printers in PCB design !! I've saved many money with this technique.
Also if you have to design a PCB for an enclosure that you do not have the dimensions file, you save time buy printing the PCB in plastic to check if it fits or not.

But then it turned out to be a tutorial about how to design a box :D, so now my 3D printer review video showing the 3d printed PCB is still on my todo list

much faster to use file -> 3D print than to use export. can open straight into cura, plus it doesn't upload your design into the cloud

also- when I do this i use step files rather than STL for the pcb. much nicer, especially with curved board outlines and connectors. Plus, using Offset Face on the 3D model rather than Offsetting in your sketch is much more useful for making clearances and the such

Did you use PETG or PLA?

I used PETG. PS: I like PETG. When working with PLA, it smells a lot and I found out, that when 3D printing long edges with ABS, it bends. I have not tried other materials yet.
