AMAZING. Out of all of the RUclips video's, I've NEVER heard of, "visual weight" for the eyes. I've seen RUclips videos on focus, focus, focus, and sharp, sharp, sharp, for the eyes... I do know you have to watch out for too much white of the eyes (forgot what it's called). GREAT video btw
Thank you very much for that video ! I finally understood WHY I don't like my wedding pictures, they look pretty, there's no major light or focus problem but they tell no story. The only one I selected as my favorite does. But I couldn't put my finger until now on why I liked that one more than the others... really inspiring for my own future photo taking ^^
Wooow! After 2 videos of yours, and hundreds of other youtubers', I can conclude your work is the most awesome I've ever seen on the whole. You should hit 1M subs in no time.
There are plenty of editing tutorial out there, but its really hard to find a top notch photographer who can share and explain his thought while framing in such details, and most importantly with a great number of sample photos for each explanation. Thanks, Mitchell.
Perfectly explained. How to see the world and read between the lines. Object and subject in the picture or eyes looking at something whether it's in the frame or not. Never thought about this simple thinking.
I've always had an interest in photography and have watched hundreds of hours of educational content on RUclips since I began taking it more seriously in 2015, after buying a Canon 750D as my first DSLR. I've learnt an awful lot from many different channels in that time (mostly Tony Northrup's), but after finding your videos today, the first thing that immediately strikes me is how clearly more accomplished your work is compared to anyone else's I've been learning from. That's a subjective statement, of course, and I mean no disrespect towards like likes of Tony or Matt Granger, et al., but seeing the quality of your output is truly inspiring. I can't wait to watch more of your content.
Thanks very much. Really appreciate it. This is because I'm a photographer who occasionally does these sorts of videos. The other guys are mostly full time educators. I'm not very good at my delivery in front of the camera yet, well, I'm improving, but yeh... the photography is what I'm about. You're not gonna see me pumping out too many of these vids, but whatever I'll make I'll try to make of high quality and useful to others. There will be another video very soon. Almost finished editing it. Thanks for watching. :)
I know im asking randomly but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost the password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Zahir Eduardo i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
One thing i do noticed is that our eyes instantly look for bright spots in the picture... like at 6:37 first i noticed the man's face then book and then the boy's face as it is covered with shadows. At 2:01 as well I noticed the candle and book first, then I noticed the boy's eyes.
Best lesson in photography... See millions of quality pics taken by others specially pros... Build imagination rest will follow... Hehehe thx super video
Mitchell, just came here to compliment you on both your skillful and patient-looking didactic when expressing your thoughts on photography. It really speaks to me and gives me plenty of reasons to keep coming back for more. Thank you a lot for investing your time in your youtube channel. :)
Fantastic video! I was excited to see you had a youtube channel. You were one of the first travel photographers who's work I really got into years a go. I remember getting one of your first pdfs on post work and it completely transformed how I thought about editing my images. I owe a lot to you! Looking forward to more videos.
Very good stuff. I shoot mostly landscape, wherever I go. However, your video really inspires me and makes me wanting to take photos of people, since, that is the only way to tell stories. BTW, you may want to update the copyright year on your web site.
Clear rendition of a very subjective topic...Agree with some of the other comments - the content is high quality and well presented. You could very well be a writer :)

Wow ,what a comprehensive exlplanation! I've always thought about the psychological effect that the eyes evoke but never really thought about how it could direct your gaze to look elsewhere. I am definitely going to implement this on my work. And your photos are just exquisite! I can't believe you don't have more subs!
The tips, narrative, editing, example photos, all are just incredible
