Stopping allergic reactions: There is a book called, “The Natural Cat.” The author was an experienced rescuer and successfully adopted out cats to people with allergies by adjusting both diets. She had advice for improving human immune response and reducing feline dander production. I don’t remember the details because I didn’t have that issue, but I was impressed with her knowledge. It’s a book from last century.

I've had allergies all my life and found that diet and supplements to boost the immune system and not sleeping with cats (or dogs) or letting them sleep on my clothes made a huge difference ...and an air cleaner ...and washing my hands after touching them ...and washing their sleeping areas regularly...ok seems like quite a few things but it is WAY worth it!

@@piazee3460 I use nasal saline spray a few times a day to clear my nose, use artificial tears for the eyes and I take Claritin and use an air purifier. Always remember to wash the hands after holding and petting my four cats helps too.

Secondly, I look at Chutney I see Astrid who’s my sister’s cat and also a rescue. She’s definitely the funniest and weirdest cat we’ve ever had. I would also never give her up. She’s way too precious. Props to them and their cats.
You need your immune system to fight disease. Yours is being seriouscaly and progressively damaged. Our pets are our families. Not discardable. Please look into allergic desensitization so you can keep you babies and your health. You sound great you two. REAL animal lovers. So many needing love and a person to call their own. Get more aggressive in your exposure. Play with and smell the cat. Rub it in your eyes, that was my strategy. I told myself i wont let this become an issue. I loved the little furry basta... Even on occasional visits my body got the message. An allergy is a faulty immune response, teach it to be accustomed to the allergen and their wont be any issues in the future. Good luck, btw i also always let him drink the top 2 inches of my milk, maybe that is important too.
Get a good floor-standing airrc purifier and you may feel better.
My 28 year old daughter has the allergies but she doesn't care... over the years it isn't as bad.. I really do dislike that excuse.. there are a lot of ways to help with that in these comments..try it!
@@charbtious7262 With constant exposure to the allergen, the body builds up resistence to it. Milk is not good for cats though as they are lactose intolerant and it can cause them digestive problems.

Recently got a cat who I named Salem. She's a long-haired black cat who was previously feral but got spayed and was way too friendly to be released on the streets. I have minor animal allergies, as I'm allergic to dogs and cats, and when I first got Salem, I noticed my allergies were becoming really bad with constant sneezing and stuffy nose, but I love her all the same. She's such a funny, affectionate cat, and I wouldn't give her up for the world.
A really good air purifier helps greatly.
Interesting. My ENT doctor who did my allergy testing (which indicated I was allergic to both dogs and cats and a myriad of other things) said she NEVER recommends that her patients get rid of their pets!
My brother and his girlfriend both are allergic to cats. They own 3 cats together. They say they barely have any symptoms anymore when it comes to their own cats. Your allergies can get used to it if they're constantly around it. They still get symptoms around other cats, but that's fine for them, as long as they're not having symptoms around their own cats.

I'm asthmatic and despite countless recommendations by medical staff to cease cat ownership, I've had 10 glorious cats over the past 40 years and we're still going strong together! I wouldn't have it any different, despite my constantly running nose!

I feel like whatever sinus/ eyes, etc.. discomfort their dander causes their mental health relief far outweigh them. We have suffered for far less worthy causes!
After my boyfriend proposed to me and I said, "Yes." We started to discussed my moving in with him. I told him that I my cat, of course, will also be moving in. My fiance said that we couldn't have a cat because he is allergic to them. So I handed him back the engagement ring and told him that we'll still be friends. We got our first cat when I was 8 in the mid 70’s. My mom continued to have a cat for decades. When I was in my late 20’s she found out she was allergic to cat dander. She decided to give herself allergy shot rather than giving up the cats. These people are awesome, just like my mom was.

@@eless6985 Try homeopathy. A professional homeopathist could probably treat this condition . I had colds since I was born and I took the remedies for years and I think if I had not been taking them I would have died when Covid-19 first came around before the vaccines were made available because I caught every cold or flu within a 250 mile radius. If I had not been treated I am sure I would have gotten Covid-19 just because I got all the common cold covid viruses literally whenever someone one sneezed.

Exact same thing happened to me. I have four cats. I found one and the other three found me. I am now one cat short of crazy cat lady. I developed a cat allergy but I don't care. They are everything to me. Cats are the best. Animals are the best.

We're lucky to live in a time when we have plenty of medications out there to relieve allergies. I'll happily put up with sniffles, hives, whatever to keep my pets, so I absolutely understand, admire and applaud this lovely and loving lady.
And to those who truly cannot be around animal dander, just do the right thing and find your pet a safe and loving home. Don't abandon the poor defenseless animal. At the very least, take the pet to a good shelter. 🙏
I have pretty bad allergies and I know that getting rid of my cats would help tremendously but I could never do it they are a part of my family and I take them everywhere. They give me so much companionship and love I couldn’t imagine life without them!
I took 3 shots 3 times a week for several years so I could keep my cat! They are so worth it and I don’t react to the allergy anymore!
Dr.:"If you want your allergies to go away give up your cats."
Her: "Guess I just have allergies then!"

Also allergic to cats and we had 2 over a 20 year period. It was totally worth it. I have a bunny now, but one day I'll get another cat when I'm allowed more than one pet on the property.
Growing up I used to have really bad allergies to cats. Now, it hardly registers. I had a kitty for 12 years and it was fine. I think eventually, some just go away, and that by exposing myself more to cats helped build immunity. Loved this vid - Chutney is one gorgeous cat.

I agree, I’ve always been allergic and always had cats. But it s nowhere near as bad as it was when I was younger. In fact my own cats don’t trigger any response now. Unless I stroke them and rub my eyes , that one still gets me lol
@@mollydooker9636 Soooooo, pick them up and rub them on your face. Let your body know that your done with this and it had better get used to it. It worked for me after i moved out and came back for occasional visits. Apparently im allergic to long haired cats. Well f that.

I'm allergic as well,that didn't stop me from always having cats and dogs.Animal are life and love.I just endure the symptoms and when it gets too bad,well the is medications.I have stopped taking medecine for my allergies to try and fortify my immune system and most of the time I'm fine.I sneeze a little and blow my nose more odten than an ordinary person but that's ok.I love the one cat I now have won't get rid of him just because of allergies.
I second the motion. The Natural Cat is great. My husband is allergic to cats. A Burmese cat adopted us and all of a suddenness allergies vanished. We adopted a Korat who needed a home and later a gorgeous white long hair, odd eyed cat came to us from who knows where. We had cats for 20 years and the allergies didn't bother him because he loved them so much. Chutney is indeed gorgeous. Looks like a Birman.

I am only allergic to one thing, cats. Yet, I proudly own 2 beautiful fur-babies I adopted from shelters. Over the years, my cats have helped me become less reactive and build up my tolerance to all cats. So much so that I volunteer in local shelter where I brush and take care of dozens of cats.
Chutney is beautiful! She looks like a pure bred Himalayan. There are great over the counter allergy meds that really help those symptoms.

Sometimes allergies can appear later in life. I gave up all dairy products and it helped me a lot.
I’ve also had a Siamese girl. They are so smart, so so smart and very loving. And kittens of course steal the heart. I hope you really look into the book the other commenter made, The cat diet and the human diets have a lot to do with the allergies. Good luck, and thank you for fostering beautiful wonderful cats.

Siamese are amazing cats.I love all my cats but as a child I had Siamese.They could open doors,drawers ect and were always up to mischief. They are definitely very intelligent

Same thing for me😅 I found out I was allergic to cats when I got my first cat. So now I have 2😂They’re both rescues and I got my oldest cat 2 months after my dad died. I always have cetirizine at home and if I get super nasty reaction I drink a lot of water and that helps. I also try to not kiss them too much😂 I can’t imagine my life without them❤

I was allergic to dogs, but had my schnauzer and bostons already and could not give them up, they are our babies. This last allergy test I was no longer allergic to dogs but now cats! I have two bengal mixes and they are spoiled rotten! We have had them since they were 5 weeks old. There is no way I could give them up. So allergy shots every week makes more sense! God bless you for taking in the rescues and not buying pets.

When I was a kid, they did an allergy test and found out I was allergic to dogs... I broke down crying, thinking that my parents would get rid of our dogs Stanley and Sadie. My parents said, "We'd get rid of you before we get rid of the dogs!" A joke, of course, but I was so relieved!

I love this woman and her husband
When I moved in with my husband, I brought my two cats. He was allergic, developed asthma, doctors told him to get rid of the cats, but he stuck it out because he loved them. Finally, after the last cat passed, his health improved, no more inhalers. We no longer have cats, but we do have dogs ❤️ No allergies there.

Weekly baths help A LOT! And there is a cat food available that stops the allergies
I know of so many people who ,like you have cat allergies.my boyfriend was one of them .I had three cats and at first he couldn't be in the same room without having an asthma attack.He worked through it now he hugs and loves the cats without any problem.one day your allergies will disappear I've seen it happen so often.love your fur babies and gorgeous little girl xxx
