You actually combined two different lines :D "Im gonna pretend your accelerator is stuck and let you off with a warning but don't try it again." "You're lucky I'm in a good mood. I'm giving you a warning but I'll be watching for you." The other lines are: "I can see the smoke but you seem to be heading for a fire, I'm giving you a warning. Try to take it easy." "You just don't seem to get it, do you? This is your final warning. Next time you'll be riding with me." "I don't know what your malfunction is but you can think about it in jail." "Step out of the vehicle, slowly. You're under arrest." "Put your hands where I can see them. You're under arrest."
During actual gameplay it literally changes depending on how you drive! If you stop the car it will loop a continuous 10 second segment, start driving and it begins progression. So if there's a part of the song you like you can slam the brakes and stop to hear that part indefinitely. Also hard crashing effects the music too as it silents and re structures. They went above and beyond with this game. So gameplay itself will give you different varients for every song
This song will forever be in my head of that little 8 year old kid I was playing this game... over and over. Made me wanna be a cop. And here I am today!
Hopefully you've never had to be involved in a pursuit but if you have been, did you think of this song? Or have you ever thought " 21 to county. In pursuit of whatever car" if you have?
This song works specially well within the context of a racing game. Every little section of the track gets represented, and it gets you all hyped up. Rom Di Prisco knew what he was doing.
The major problem is that they would modernize and cringe-ize it. Not even gonna mention turning the handling into brake2drift-esque shit. In the oldest nfs games cars felt like boats (which is acceptable), in the golden era of underground, MW and Carbon they felt perfect and now they are BS
I cant unhear sirens and someone yelling "PULL OVER NOW!!" in my head when I listen to this song. Hometown was my absolute favorite track for hot pursuit mode.

NFS could have been so much more after the 2000's, but for few exceptions totally missed the mark. All potential wasted. Most wanted still had the old physics and nice environment, but nothing ever came close to Aquatica and Atlantica. Those fantasy-like coast night trips were a beauty to behold, even for the pixelgraphics back then. They captured a magic that even most games in Ultra HD now don't. Of course, can't leave out the track-tailored music score. That game was art as much as it was a challenge to complete and a joy to play cooperatively. Come to think of it these games also had a very serene and magical aspect. I don't know, most things just never got close again. The way gaming turned after these 90's games really was an endemic sign. I find I loathe almost everything nowadays in professional and private life alike. Everything nickel and dimed to the last tiny service offered, everything micromanaged and corruption everywhere. It will end very soon. What a shame for the whole lot of it and all people apart of it.
fun old fact if no one knew before: the musics of NFS3 are divided into different parts in which they play depending of what part of the track you currently are driving on (this also includes pieces when you crash as well)

Better yet, What ever happened to crashing your car and the music suddenly changes its beat. And you cant forget about replay and the perfect camera views. Im sorry but EA is slaking hard with these new hot pursuits. Anyone agrees?
Hearing this seems to always bring a big smile to my face even now 20 years after I first played NFS III I think this tune will always give me that same feeling no matter how old I get :')
@unknown5676 Actually, this music was compressed to fit on the game disc. It was resampled to 22.5kHz. If left at its native sample rate of 44.1kHz, it would sound very clear, like on most CD's published. It is pretty unfortunate it sounds this bad, because it was not really that long ago that this music was produced. The originals are probably locked up in one of EA's studios, never to be fully released.
My cousin and I were hyper competitive kids so when we played this game we had to have a handshake rule of "We are just going to piss off the cops as much as possible".
