“The twenty-two letters: they are hewn out in the air, carved out by the voice, fixed in the mouth in five positions… to the tip of the tongue as the flame to the burning coal. אההע are pronounced at the back of the tongue and in the throat. בומף are pronounced between the teeth and by the tip of the tongue. גיכק are cut off a third of the way up the tongue. דטלנת by the tip of the tongue and with the palate, and they are pronounced with the voice. זסצרש between the teeth with the tongue relaxed” (Sefer Yetsirah, §17a [Hayman edition]). Interestingly the word קְדוּשָׁה is spelled out with one letter from each of the five positions (source unknown).
I noticed a sense of anger too. But after watching it a second time. I think Bobby appears to be way more relaxed on stage, which I imagine he is. Like he knows who he is in life? While she feels like she is trying to use more control to cope well on stage. Like a new performer or artist would. Love both of these people though. 😃👍🏻
She is doing religious prayer while she sings. A mystical Jewish tenant is that to get angry at all the suffering on earth is a means to meet G-d in prayer; Israel; Yisrael, in Hebrew, literally translates into "struggles with G-d." You can hear that same tone of intensityand struggle in Orthodox synagogues, and it isn't really anger; it is the intensity of the struggle to use suffering to transcend. It is exactly as she used singing in a childhood of being a stutterer, too. She has a Ted Talk in which she talks and sings about it.
I'm not sure why people feel the need to laugh. It's not funny at all. Victoria Hanna's kabbalist rapping probably has very serious matters., but the two evoke such amazing exchanges. As usual, herd espousing others' reactions as they ALL find the need to laugh. Sorry folks, I find it pathetic. Maybe the pandemic is 'saving' us for this herd mentality that sometimes surges in any group.
