You’ll never know how big a Of a blessing these RUclips videos have been in my life to help Me with my scripture study. Your enthusiasm, excitement and knowledge brings a whole new light and understanding. I really do appreciate you and taking the time to do these. I not only look forward each week to the new video But find myself going back into the book of Mormon to help me with my studies there. With you you make them so much more clear and seem to come alive. God bless brother Jared
I'm so glad the walls of your classroom have been extended; I would not have had access to this wealth of information otherwise. Thank you for carrying on in your family's business, and thank you for your efforts to lift and enlighten all who listen no matter their age or calling.
I hope you won’t stop making these when we return to “normal” life. I’m sure it has been a burden for you, but as someone who has been unable to balance attending institute and family responsibilities for years, these online lessons have been a blessing. Thank you!
i know im randomly asking but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my login password. I love any tips you can give me!
One of my important takes from your wonderful discussion on Section 27 is the lesson of the importance of follow-up personal inspiration and revelation. The fact that Joseph didn’t get this all at once is exciting to me. I think of the times when I’ve received a glimmer of personal understanding. Now I wish Id written down that glimmer, no matter how vague it seemed at the time. I’m going to begin. My personal understanding of section 27 is my first entry. It will include not only Section 27, but also Mathew 17, when Jesus told his disciples not to tell anyone about their experience at that time, but to wait. Line upon line, precept upon precept!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your intense years of personal study, devotion to excellence and personal time spent preparing these spiritual presentations. You are a master teacher who weaves the spiritual, human, doctrinal and scriptural so beautifully which makes my spirit soar!! Please thank YOUR WIFE and family for supporting you in this huge endeavor as you are blessing countless lives. PS. For every 3 hours you spend speaking, I spend 6-9 hours typing copies notes to read, and reread and discuss with my family and friends!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm honored you would spend so much time with me in the scriptures. My wife and kids definitely deserve a lot of the credit! Thank you for thinking of them!
I agree 100%!!! I to spend hours taking a huge amounts of notes. My husband and I listen to you together in the morning and I get as much as I can without stopping the video every other minute. Then later in the day, on my own time I listen again and stop the video every other minute. Sometimes the way you say things impress me so much that I have to write it down word for word. It’s actually quite often. We both love listening to you and the massive amount of things we learn from you. I really enjoyed studying the Book of Mormon with you and I’m enjoying this year just as much! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Words cannot express!💜💜💜
When I first started this I didn't realize how all encompassing it would be. I ordered a Doctrine and Covenants Journal Edition just to be able to get all my notes right next to the scriptures. It still is pretty small at times. Then out come the post-its! I agree with all the comments.
@@GFSongbird So awesome! I love the thought of running out of margin space! I had a religion teacher years ago that wondered if the "sealed portion" (in addition to the literal sealed portion of the Book of Mormon) included the things that we write "in between the lines" of our scriptures--unsealed by the Holy Ghost as He opens the eyes of our understanding. We can definitely include the post-its in that too!
Jared Halverson, you are soooo amazing! I actually used to take your class about 18 years ago when you taught in the Manavu Chapel in Provo- I had just graduated from BYU and would attend your night class and it was life changing. You said some things that changed my life and perspective back then and have had ripple effect since then. I actually wrote you a letter a year later of extreme gratitude for your monumental impact in my life and the blissful blessing that you to me at that time, despite that fact you didn't even know me. Unfortunately, it got returned and I was devastated you never knew the difference you made in my life! Well a friend told me to check out this podcast and I was elated to find you it was YOU! Best news! I love listening to you teach powerful concepts and principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The same feelings & incredible insights you taught so many years ago are present and I am beyond blessed for you, your testimony and your ability to bring souls closer to Christ through your teachings and application of His glorious gospel coupled with being a conduit for the Spirit. You are an amazing example for us all and I'm beyond grateful for finding you again! Thank you for what you did for me as a young woman that you didn't even know was coming to your nightly classes so many years ago. I feel like Alma when he saiid, "I cannot say the smallest part which I feel." (Alma 26:26) You are the BEST!!! Keep doing what you are doing- it's making a difference to so many- myself included! =)
What a generous and thoughtful comment. Thank you! I'm so grateful we could reconnect after all these years. I'm sorry your letter got returned :( Those Manavu chapel years were golden--such wonderful people wanting to come together to study the gospel, with the teacher pretty much the same age as the students, so just having a great time together. Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories. I hope life has been good for you since then!
No one can doubt that the revelations in D&C come from God. Especially while listening to brothers like this brother who very carefully explains the doctrine.
Brother Halverson, THANK YOU, THANKYOU, you are for sure a very wonderful, and an accomplished teacher of the GOSPEL, I just love your lessons, the extra knowledge that you have, which you impart. You have a great gift to expound and teach we love you, and your great long lessons. Much Love to you and your family, please keep up your Great work. From Coffs Harbour, NSW AUSTRALIA.
To quote a line from an Elton John song: " I thank the Lord for people out there like you." This kind of podcast is in the wave of the future as the Restoration continues to roll forth. What with the rise of the church globally, the shorter sabbath meetings, Zoom communication, emphasis on home-based gospel study, church transparency publications, etc., this type of study-aid fills a void for those who love to discuss and learn and immerse themselves in the gospel and get necessary context and meaning. In so many ways, this is just the start. The Prophet is right----you ain't seen nuthin' yet!
To u tube family of Brother Halverson and Brother Halverson, Thank you for deepening and refining my testimony. I can count on you to teach and allign the gospel principles to complete the puzzle picture of the gospel line upon line, principle upon principle. As you spread the word, the greater the opposition 's power grows. I am going to start praying more earnestly for you and your efforts to be protected as u prove the contaries and enlighten us on our journey home. Thank you and I invite you to join me in beseeching God's help and protection.
Dear Brother Halverson, if this makes you feel better from these RUclips videos you post. I aways pray to listen, and if there is a question Heavenly Father fills in the gaps. You continue to share these videos and Heavenly Father will help us understand. You have no idea how grateful we are have you teach as you do. Thank you so much.
I have loved increasing my awareness and faith of shielding in recent years. Most days I ask for my shield to be up, strong, protect me, to help me only have positive experiences with others unless there is something to experience for my highest good. I visualize the shield in my mind, its shape, its color. It is a shield all around me. I do not visualize a traditional shield from this mortal experience - where you have to wield it with precision at all times in order to be protected. What if there is an attack coming that you can't see? That is why my shield is more like an entire body covering, energy force that I picture in my mind's eye. I give it real intention and strength through my faith in God and in His power and the power He gives His Angels around us. They days I "place my shield" are always better than those days when I forget. I believe you can also "place shields" for those in your care who can not yet do so - your children and pets, even shield the "non-living" things in your life like your home, car, property, gardens, etc. It's a very powerful symbolic way to say "I believe in the real power of God, even when I can't physically see it and I know it is far more powerful than that of the evil one and his followers." I realize by sharing this, likely some will give me a thumbs down or think I am a bit batty. But I wanted to share in case there are others more spiritually minded who haven't yet thought about this as something that they can actually do. It truly helps.
A missionary taught me his mission president asked the missionaries to visialize their contacts in white, as if prepared for baptism. We need to visualize family members in white, as if ready for the temple. To me, that is also putting on the whole armor of God.
And for those things we cannot see, we listen to the Lord's Watchmen on the towers and the voice of the Spirit and the lessons taught from the scriptures, so we can fortify our shield. We aren't expected to be able to see or know everything, that's one of the reasons why the Lord delegates responsibilities, so we can look out for each other.
Feasting in the words of our Savior thank youuuu brother You make his words come alive ... I like when you said if we are willing to desire to listen to Father speak to us there is so much he wants to share with us and that's exactly how I feel I jump with Joy when I hear what he is saying to me ... thank you ... thank you for taking the time to study and pray to be guided to teach us what we hear him brother Havelson ! I hear him ... thank you .. God bless you and your beautiful family always.
Thanks to ALL the "class" for sharing!I BEFORE I listen, I enjoy reading insights from our "class"! Words cannot BEGIN to express my gratitude for your videos!! !! They truly are a spiritual feast! I too record notes in my scriptures, but in GOSPEL LIBRARY APP! It has ENDLESS margins! We are SO blessed to live in these times! A HUGE thanks to your family for sharing you with all us! 😇
One of the things I have learned and recognized in this and previous lessons, is that the Lord expects and even requires us to ask questions...questions show Him that we have a sincere desire to know His will for us, and as we act on the answers to these questions we are preparing ourselves for personal revelation, which prepare us with more questions He wants to answer. The restored church was created on this pattern, and it continues to move forward today in the same pattern, line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little as we can understand and implement into our lives the way of the Lord. The church its self has its mission to fulfill but we to have our personal missions to learn through this pattern and put into action to help the Lord to further His work on earth...We must never make someone else feel wrong for asking questions on the gospel, they are acting in the pattern of the Savior.
@@Unshaken haha. I don't remember if you've shared the title for your dissertation, I presume it's theology related. I'd be very interested to read it.
Your videos are onpoint with our family discussions and the kids giggled about your story telling of your seminary class about the emblems. This week for us we had so many highlights starting with the sacrament, Elias, Elijah, restoration, priesthood keys and authority, faith in Jesus Christ, the armour of God, personal revelation and institutional revelation. Lots of handwritten notes to reflect on till the next week. Thank you for making our study of doctrine and covenants simple to understand. 🌻
Hi Brother Jared, I've heard this week two things that make think, and I'm trying to clarify. First, that the covenants we renew on sacrament are all we already did, not only the baptism covenant. Second, who was the heavenly messenger, Christ or some one else endowed for that? What you think about this? Sorry my English, I hope you understand me. Thank you
I wept with gratitude when u spoke of studying your doctorate and then the process of pondering more. I love that example It has empowered my searching It’s a precious gem Thanku forever Jared with deep gratitude for your beautiful generosity of sharing those holy moments. May God’ bless u n your family in wonderful ways
Hello my friend, I want to thank you for sharing your talent with the World. I’ve learned so much from since been introduced to your channel. I feel like you’re a teacher for life. God bless you!!
I love your breakdown on the armor of God. Someone once taught me about the lack of protection in the rear, but then pointed out these scriptures: 3 Nephi 20:42, 3 Nephi 21:29, and my favorite D&C 49:27. The Savior is our rearward. He has our backs!
Glad you were able to find a copy! I have lessons for most of the Book of Mormon (everything from Jacob to the end) that I taught last year, that might help you make sense of what it's saying. You're in for a wonderful adventure as you study it!
I am attending the United Nations CSW65 this week. Little sleep and an overload of the world. I was overloaded. Woke up at 2 am to watch this video (the whole 2+ hrs). Finally the peace I had been seeking! I had prayed fervently for answers to look for in General Conference. Heaven's tender mercy did not make me wait that long. I so appreciate your hours of preparation, your hours of teaching others, your hours in scripture study, and all the work it takes to produce these. Thank you!
Jared, I just love how you use hymns as freely as scriptures to deepen the impact of the message! The power of music is such a gift and each hymn you share strikes a chord (pun intended!) in our hearts to immediately sing along and thus have a song of praise "stuck" in our minds! Thank you!!! One more grateful gift of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and time well-spent learning together!
You mentioned a talk given by elder Boyd K Packer about the shield of faith I looked to see if you linked it but you didn’t... I’m grateful for your insight and knowledge of past conference talks I was able to find it with some searching and link that quote to the scriptures to continue to make scripture study more meaningful for years to come!!! Thank you so much! In case anyone else was wondering it was conference April 1995 and titled Shield of Faith
I hope you feel the spirit of what you are doing by sharing your wonderful knowledge of the scriptures and church history. A friend from out of state sent me one of your videos and it has made Come Follow Me so exciting for me! I love your insight and the way you guide us to thinking in so many different ways. I taught Seminary for 10 years and have a good grasp of the scriptures, but your podcasts have added so much! I cannot thank you enough for opening my mind and heart to pondering the scriptures even more deeply. I know you spend so much time preparing and teaching. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much. You did a lot of heavy lifting during those years of teaching seminary! I'm so thankful for the seminary teachers that first awakened a love of the scriptures in me as a youth. Thank you for your service!
Thank you for your excellent explanation of the armor of God. I envision the shield of faith as a protective power all around me. I think of Star Trek when Capt. Picard says "Shields Up!" when they encounter an enemy. This imagery was my lifeline for several years as I went through very difficult family situation where I was being attacked verbally by a family member (and no contact was not an option). Before I would answer the phone or place a call to them I would think in my mind, "Shields up!" and it helped me.
The Greek used in Ephesians for fiery darts is πεπυρωμένα πυρόω, "fiery," and βέλη, "dart, arrow, missile." The “fiery darts” we read about in this passage were made from a hollow reed (something like bamboo). One end was stoppered, then the reed was filled with a flammable liquid, probably a mixture of alcohol and naphtha. A loosely fitting stopper holding a wick was slipped into the other end of the tube and lit. It was then shot like an arrow, not at a bundle of straw or some other flammable substances, but at the soldier himself. Since the missile had its own fuel source and the wick was protected by the tube, the missile kept burning until it hit something. When it hit a soldier, the wick popped out, the liquid spilled over the soldier’s armor. Further, as shields are made of wood, a flaming arrow would strike and stick in the shield covering both the shield and the soldier with burning liquid; hence, Satan attacks our faith first to weaken it to get to the soldier who is shielding himself.
Thanks for this class i love your clases en esta no comento tantas experincias de su mision exprico mas de la doctina hermano en verdad que en cada clase aprendo mas de mi salvador jesucrito y me aserca mas a el gracias 💖 😘 ❤ muchos besitos 😘
Brother Halverson, There are no words to express my gratitude for the way you are helping me understand & come to know the precious teachings of the Doctine and Covenants. It's as if I have never read the book before. I appreciate the stories, the additional scriptures & the way you tie the truths together. Also, I LOVE the poem you wrote & shared. I write poems too, when Heaven sends the words to me. It is, as you surely know, a sweet spiritual experience. Thank you for the time you give & the extensive study you do & have done, to be able to share the Gospel, the way you do. Thank your family, too, for their support, so you are able to enrich testimonies, as you present the truths of the Gospel. You are SOOOOO appreciated. Sister Combs
I am so so grateful for your weekly presentations, the Doctrine and Covenants has come alive in a whole new way. What a blessing your wealth of knowledge and experience and ways of explaining doctrine is in my life. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
A brother shared an experience he had one Sunday, I guess bread assignment was miss communicated and it ended that no one brought bread. However, there was someone who had a big bag of donuts, so that is what they used that Sunday Sacrament. I love this story it shows no matter what, the lord will bless his children even with a big bag a donuts
I love the idea of how the shield can protect everything, and if it's big enough, maybe it can even protect others to an extent. I think i lived off of the faith or shield of my youth priesthood leaders for a time, even until i left on a mission and had to forge my own shield.
I remember being at a talk by Harold B Lee when I was at the Y when he said we could use his testimony for strength while we were gaining our own, but always be working on building our own because the time would come when it would be critical.
I really liked your observation in Section 25 and in Section 27 about the importance of music and silence. A quote by Aldous Huxley that I have long loved and linked to Section 25 is “After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” I will now link this to Section 27 to remind me why we keep silent during the sacrament. As always, thank you for your insights.
Hello just joined for another anticipated spiritual feast. Happy to have you as a great teacher. I love the gospel and the scriptures and feeling of the Spirit when I act open the directions received.
I feel so blessed to have you for my teacher. I wake up early and listen to your inspiring lessons, a wonderful start to my day. This week I have learnt that receiving Revelation takes practise, prayer, proving with scripture and patience. Thank you so much. From Colne, Lancashire, England
I think of the shield of faith more broadly than only in terms of belief./doubt For example, suppose I prepare a presentation for my job and a a mistake becomes obvious and is used as a fiery dart of an attack by a listener - but because of my faith in the soundness of my position and the good will I feel for the audience, I smile and show how something else makes this error insignificant - quenching the dart - and go on to victory in the presentation.
Was studying and taking notes on this lesson which I love the spirit of and one of the scriptures was the very one I needed to text to one of my adult children who is trying to find their way back to their eternal spiritual nature from years of being out of touch with this dimension of their soul. It was the perfect scripture and then as I listened your analogy of the truck you and your friends drove around in citing that it is easier to move the wheel when we act and have the momentum forward going .. It was the exact analogy I needed to write to her and explain to her that to stand still at this point will make finding her direction so much harder. Your inspiration and revelations are inspired beyond measure. Thank you to you and your family for sharing this time with all of us! I am eternally indebted to you for a lifetime of study!
As I listened to you quote from Pres Cannon that it's a gift itself to distinguish that which comes from our own heart and that which comes from God, I wonder if that could perhaps be what Pres. Nelson was trying to suggest in his warning about the coming day when we will not survive spiritually unless we know how to hear the spirit of the Lord. That was the connection I made when you were reading that.
I thank you for your time and talent. You are my walking partner each morning. I am very grateful for your insights, your kindness, and your enthusiasm for teaching the Lord's gospel. I would love your yearly reading schedule.
I want to expand on the "shield of faith" and the "sword of truth". You mentioned modern weapons of combat. I want to go further into the realm of science fiction, specifically the book and movies "Dune". The shield used in Dune is a force field which surrounds the body and to me that can represent our faith should be part of whole being. Also in Dune there is the "Weirding Way" which involves "the Voice" and the "Sonic Weapon". Since these involve using words or vocal sounds I relate that to the sword of the truth or the word of God. The Voice is similar to when we yell "duck" and everybody in listening range will react immediately. I believe with the word of God we can make the adversary react such as "In the name of Jesus Christ, get thee hence Satan."
Fiery darts can also consume the ground around you, as they appear to be doing in our day. I love the symbolism of the shield quenching them, even before they land
Thank you for today’s lesson. I appreciate all of your time. What a blessing it has been for me to share time with you in studying my Savior’s work. Would you please share your reading plan for all the standard works? I’d love to try it too. Many prayers for you and your family. 🥰
Hey Jared, thank you for your thoughts on proving the armor of God for ourselves. I’ve been thinking about how to take upon myself the whole armor and think that part of that process includes me going to God and counseling with Him on it. I loved the analogy of revelation being likened to learning a language. The language of revelation is one I hope to continue to grow up in.
I love your program thank you for your service! I thought D&C would bore me. I love your techniques taking the chapter verse by verse I am learning so much. I really love your class. Thank you!
Would you be able to cover some of the promised blessings unto the house of Israel, that President Nelson asked us to make a list of? I have trouble seeing them.
I love your in-depth way of teaching and I hope that you will consider continuing to do your RUclips videos after we are again able to meet together in person. I am among those who were advised to stay at home because of the pandemic. My ward makes the speaking portion of their meetings available on RUclips and hold their classes on Zoom, but I appreciate the additional knowledge that you give us through Unshaven. I would love to see your classes made available in print for those of us who learn better by reading, but that would require a lot of extra work, so I will do my best to continue to learn by listening. I really appreciate the time that you put into your lessons and your willingness to share the knowledge that you have gained through years of study and the guidance of the Spirit. Thank you.
Regarding our back side being exposed to fiery darts unlike the armor protecting the front of our body, I have always loved this scripture: 3 Nephi 21:29 And they shall go out from all nations; and they shall not go out in haste, nor go by flight, for I will go before them, saith the Father, and I will be their rearward. God has our backs. See also Isaiah 52 & 58. D&C 49.
Thanks for the LOTR reference...important to remember that prior to Gandalfs rescue, they make a decision to ride out...Standing only means they are waiting for their eventual demise, eventually they must press forward...The time bought by that action allows Gandalf to show up and save the day...
Such a fabulous explanation of Elias and Elijah. Easy to understand. I have never found s better than xplanation of how Elias and Elijah could be two different people at the Kirtland Temple. Thanks for sharing your incredible knowledge with us.
Thank you for covering up your Jane Austen on your bookshelf! That baby photo is so much better. On a more serious note, thanks for teaching with the Holy Ghost.
Thank you Brother Halverson. My husband and I were both interested in your study schedule for reading the standard works in a year. If this is something you’d be willing to post we’d be grateful. President Nelson at the beginning of his service as the Prophet encouraged us to make a study of the words of Christ throughout the standard works, something he did himself and this would be a nice way to do that.
I know :( I was so bummed about the audio--don't know what happened, since I used the same equipment and had the same set-up. So frustrating! Thanks for bearing with me!
Dear Jared I was astonished to hear you share your experience of reading all books of scripture together. In 2009 I made the very same decision. I made a spreadsheet to reflect the daily readings by number of pages from each book. When I reached 2 Nephi 3 (pages 60-61 in the extant paper version of the scriptures) I was also reading pages 60-61 in the Old Testament. Following is the note I made against 3 Nephi 3:14 « 20 Sept 2016 Dear Joseph, I too am "sure of the fulfilling of this promise"! In Jan 2009 I decided to read all standard works simultaneously. In pages 60-61 in the Old Testament and in the Books of Mormon, I was astonished to read of Joseph, son of Jacob (in the OT) and in the other (the BoM), of Joseph, son of Lehi, to whom Lehi quotes Joseph, son of Jacob, specifically his prophesies concerning the coming of our Joseph, son of Joseph Sr. Thus, in a remarkable way, these two sacred records have become "one" in my hand, literally and metaphorically. There are no coincidences with God! ». It was a breathtaking personal fulfilment of Ezekiel’s prophesy of the two « sticks » becoming « one » in my hand and of Elder Packer’s assertion in 2008 at the introduction of the then latest edition of the scriptures that Ezekiel’s prophesy « now stands fulfilled ». Divine synergy indeed. Thank you for all you teach and for sharing a personal parallel experience. Les
@@Unshaken Bro Jared, I’ve looked over your 365 day readings and can’t find ref to the PoGP? Am I missing something or did you not include it. My own version was also to read all 5 books of scripture over 365 days but to read the same number of pages from each starting on day 1. Thus PoGP was finished first, followed by D&C, NT, BOM and OT coming last. Your approach is more appealing in that you are reading from all books across the entire year. Just couldn’t find POGP?
@@lescairns3203 I didn't include the PoGP in the chart but I did include it in my daily reading--you just average 1 page every 6 days (or 1/6th of a page each day).
I love your lessons. Today you showed part of a painting that I’d love to have a copy of. It was the Savior, wearing crimson and riding a magnificent white horse. Who is the artist?
The artist is Jon McNaughton. Here's a link if you want to see that painting on his site: jonmcnaughton.com/second-coming-of-christ-20x24-giclee-canvas-print-s-n-100/
So, today I was listening to another talk unrelated to Come follow me and she quoted Ephesians 6:10-19 which is of course the armor of God. I was alerted realizing that you had quoted it in your lesson. Then she went on to say that all of the armor is on the front of the body, which you also mentioned and she pointed to her back and then she said "God has your back!" Since you said that too about wearing the armor on the front of the body, but related the back to something different I thought I would share it with you. Since I heard you quote it yesterday, and I heard her quoted today I wondered if Father in Heaven was trying to tell me something. (Rhetorical). Take care.
I love when you were talking about what Harold B Lee said about the armor not coving our backs. Could you please let me know the reference to where he said that? I'd love to read more of his words on this.
Darts are one of the weapons that can easily penetrate chain maille, due to the many small gaps between the links. (Ergo, the need for a movable shield.) I've come to believe that maille is the best representation of our testimony, because it isn't made of one or a few large plates. It is constructed of thousands of interlocking pieces, much as our testimony isn't really one testimony, but is composed of thousands of interlocked experiences. Maille is also easy to repair when damaged. Your comment on fiery darts was very interesting, as padded clothing is normally worn underneath, and in the Lord's day would have been flammable. If you are interested I can send photos of the armor I built, and add a few more comments. Thank you for sharing your wonderful insights.
Hello, Brother Jared I love that you do LGBTQ+ issues with positive view in the church. I love that you’re advocating for many people who is facing discrimination ( not just LGBTQ+ but other people facing discrimination) You did Bring up LGBTQ+ . I didn’t get what you said. I’m little confused what you said. Please, elaborate a little bit. Only if you have time. I know your time is busy. So, if you can. Thank you very much for the AWSOME lessons
Hello bro Halverson. I love your podcast! I have a question. In section 27 when the Lord is talking about new wine i get what the scripture means but I've been wondering if He's also referring to His New Testament reference to New Wine, or the Gospel he restored in ancient times and now in the 1800's has once again been restored? Any comments on that or am I way off track, because that is very possible. Lol.
I LOVE that! Seriously, this is such an awesome insight. The Lord is definitely giving us "new wine" that can't be held in "old bottles." What a powerful way to expand upon that verse, which I will now look at differently thanks to you. Thank you so much for sharing!

@@TheGrams56 You are so kind. I'm honored to join you and your husband for scripture study. Thank you!
I'm sorry your letter got returned :(
Those Manavu chapel years were golden--such wonderful people wanting to come together to study the gospel, with the teacher pretty much the same age as the students, so just having a great time together. Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories. I hope life has been good for you since then!

Much Love to you and your family, please keep up your Great work. From Coffs Harbour, NSW AUSTRALIA.
Thank you so much! I'm honored to have found a new friend in Australia!
Amen! President Nelson is definitely atuning us all to a glorious future. What a blessing that we all get to be a part of it!

Beautiful thoughts! I love that idea of being surrounded by the strength of faith. Thank you for sharing!
A missionary taught me his mission president asked the missionaries to visialize their contacts in white, as if prepared for baptism. We need to visualize family members in white, as if ready for the temple. To me, that is also putting on the whole armor of God.
@@loisparrish2146 So true! That's a beautiful thought. Temple clothing as the armor of God. Thank you for sharing!
I too record notes in my scriptures, but in GOSPEL LIBRARY APP! It has ENDLESS margins! We are SO blessed to live in these times! A HUGE thanks to your family for sharing you with all us! 😇
Absolutely! It’s the only channel where I read through the comments!
I so injoy your classes I am finally getting how the D&C can apply to me. Thank you

Thank you

I love your breakdown on the armor of God. Someone once taught me about the lack of protection in the rear, but then pointed out these scriptures: 3 Nephi 20:42, 3 Nephi 21:29, and my favorite D&C 49:27. The Savior is our rearward. He has our backs!
Love this thought! Thank you for sharing!

Jared, I just love how you use hymns as freely as scriptures to deepen the impact of the message!
Great thought! "Shields up" indeed!
Thank you from all my heart... your friend in Switzerland!
The Greek used in Ephesians for fiery darts is πεπυρωμένα
πυρόω, "fiery," and βέλη, "dart, arrow, missile."
The “fiery darts” we read about in this passage were made from a hollow reed (something like bamboo).
Awesome insight! Makes a lot of sense. Thank you for sharing!
The strength of our faith will determine the strength of our shield 😇

I love the idea of how the shield can protect everything, and if it's big enough, maybe it can even protect others to an extent. I think i lived off of the faith or shield of my youth priesthood leaders for a time, even until i left on a mission and had to forge my own shield.

Thank you again another good lesson that I wish was a discussion but I'll take what I can get.
Very grateful for your teaching!!!
Yes I did notice. You are a wonderful sacred example of Holy ground!
I think of the shield of faith more broadly than only in terms of belief./doubt
For example, suppose I prepare a presentation for my job and a a mistake becomes obvious and is used as a fiery dart of an attack by a listener - but because of my faith in the soundness of my position and the good will I feel for the audience, I smile and show how something else makes this error insignificant - quenching the dart - and go on to victory in the presentation.
Great thought! The adversary isn't the only one who throws fiery darts!
We had breadfruit(carbohydrate) for sacrament when we were serving in Samoa on our mission! It was very humbling!
Very cool! Another great example of this principle. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much. I want to share this with my gentleman friend in my ward. It was so meaningful and full of wisdom. I look forward to your insights.
Great thought! I agree. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome thoughts! I love finding spiritual insights in surprising places. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for your time and your wisdom!
I learn so much. I can't wait to feast more at this table
Love how you teach
Fiery darts can also consume the ground around you, as they appear to be doing in our day. I love the symbolism of the shield quenching them, even before they land

I agree. I could see that being a separate podcast but I would love that. It would be a great why to prepare for general conference.
Thank you.
Sorry about the misspelling of Unshaken.

Les
Amazing experience! It really is incredible what the Lord allows us to see as we turn to Him in His word. Thank you for sharing!

I’m one of them. Appreciate both you tube sites!
Thank you for another wonderful podcast! 😁
Take care.
Beautiful thought! I like the idea of God "having our back." Thanks for sharing!
What was the talk you were listening to?
I very much like the visual of revelation iron rod vs liahona 🙏🏻Grateful that institute/seminary has gone live/public on RUclips!
What an awesome insight! The principles you drew from chain maille are powerful. I completely agree. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hello, Brother Jared
I love that you do LGBTQ+ issues with positive view in the church. I love that you’re advocating for many people who is facing discrimination ( not just LGBTQ+ but other people facing discrimination)
You did Bring up LGBTQ+ . I didn’t get what you said. I’m little confused what you said. Please, elaborate a little bit. Only if you have time. I know your time is busy. So, if you can.
Thank you very much for the AWSOME lessons
You’re amazing!
Can I have a copy of your chart of scripture study of all the standard works that you talked about here and in an earlier lesson?
Of course! I added a link in the video description to download a copy. I hope it helps!
I really enjoy and appreciate your sharing your knowledge and wisdom with us each week. .May i send you a book?
Thank you! If you look me up on Facebook, we can communicate more directly. I appreciate your kindness!
Christ changed water into wine. Latter-day Saints, under His direction, changed wine into water. I guess we’ve come full circle.
Beautiful reversal! Thank you for pointing that out!
I had the same thought. Or that as we drink the water with an eye single to His glory, the water becomes wine to our spirits
