I really liked the content but please try not to highlight the stipend . The GSOC is to promote open source contribution so that students try and learn and earn a stipend for their hardwork. Also it hopes that after gsoc is over students will continue to contribute and not do it only for the stipend. This year many spam pr were there in Hacktober because everybody misunderstood it for a free tshirt event . No hard feelings keep up the good work !

Its a shame that he is promoting the money factor only. There are many guys who start open source just because of gsoc 2000 dollars and end up hating open source for not getting selecting into gsoc. First of all gsoc is not a competation nor an internship. Its an appreciation for open sourcers. And to promote open source culture by google. If you are applying just for money my friend you will hate it eventually because open source software devlopment is passion not business.

i know this, according to official time line its little less than 3 months.. you can complete it in even lesser time if you want and then you would get work or not depends on your mentor. Moreover i wish more and more people to know about gsoc as there is really less awareness about it as compared to acm icpc.. so i thought writting 2 motnh will attract more people and they will get to know it.
At the time of doing gsoc you should be a college student. So if you are currently in final year by the time gsoc will happen next year(june) you might have graduated. As far as you are a college student its a very good thing to have or do.
