Judging by what he said at the beginning of the episode, sometimes you just have to hope you're lucky. Risking a 15/16 roll was probably the best option anyways
In nuzlockes u have to take risks to avoid as much death. I remember in a Nuzlocke I did of white I was against Clay. My Dewitt got swaggered by Krokerok so I risked the confusion against Excadrill because I knew I had plus 2 attack and Dewitt hit through and 1 shot him making Clay a complete pushover. If I played around it I don’t think I would have done that fight without deaths.
What really hurts is the surprise. It's one thing to intentionally gamble on a 6% run-ender, another thing entirely to randomly lose your best mon to what you thought was a safe play.
U-Turn against Dracovish Fishious Rend does indeed work as intended, and as it does on cartridge. I know it's a weird interaction, but it's checking if Dracovish moved before Dragapult, not Xatu. Which technically, it did. Not a bug, glad it didn't matter!
@dextersynesterformerlysorb5334 it wasn't a wrong Calc, it was missed. He said: I did the calc 3 times and missed that it was a range every time. Also said that he would have probably still ran the strat on that 15/16 chance
He dodged a crit on Dragapult and the low chance of Xatu not dying, both of which would instantly wipe. Definitely still unlucky but the line could've gone so much worse. This game is absurd.
@@istenharIt's not a bug, that's how it works on cartridge. I don't know where he got the info that it wouldn't get the boost. Moves that check whether or not the opponent attacked this turn only care about the active pokemon at the time of damage calculation.

And the MVP is down. Will not be the same without Hera, but then at the same time, not sure how much farther the run can go without him either. Truly insane how much impact that mon had on the entire run.
And here I thought Slowbro's death was tragic, but holy fuck Pythagoras was a tentpole, pretty sure it was about to surpass or already passed Torterra in frags.
Another thing that is tough to swallow is that when Jan ko'd the Kartana, the AI rolled if he had fast kill on Gyarados and found the roll, which meant the Raikou came out. Jan would've figured something was up if the Gyarados came and could've tried to steer to save Heracross.
Not a mistake, the AI does calcs based on non-mega forms, and Gyarados always megas the first turn it's out. Close Combat was the play, it just didn't hit the 93% chance to KO
Right just because I was confused about this too, the rock blast theoretical kill is to bait the raikou switch in first and then close combat is the best for mega gyra which is water dark type
The situation is actually incredibly similar to his emerald Kaizo fight vs Watston. Had a set up so Pilot could kill the back line, and Pilot also had a 15/16 chance to take out the intimidate Mon. Pilot hit the range tho.
I swear I remember hearing a different version of the background music at 32:45 in like a mario world romhack or something, but i can't put my finger on where and when. Anyone know this song?
@@shellythebutler thank you! Id never played hades but looking it up someone did remaster that hades song for a mario world romhack, so im not losing my mind afterall.
The spoiler blockers were the true villains all along, luring us all into a false sense of security so that we would feel comfortable opening the comment section before finishing the video then disappearing when they were needed most.
Can we have the calcs overlay to show the chat so we can see their comments when Jan is cooking or ranting ? Maybe replace the in-game view (usually just in Pokemon Center) or set the in-game view even smaller to make room
It’s kinda tragically poetic in a way Pythagoras, who claimed revenge on Archie on the peak of Mount Pyre, has also met his demise from RNG - and at the hands of Archie’s goon, Matt It’s like circle of revenge. It’s a mathematic pun!
to be clear 5:00, Mega Hera scaled Bullet Seed would in fact clear this without rocks but it's understandable if he didn't want bullet seed or using a scale. don't know if this option was considered or not though
I'm 29 years old. My parents bought me pokémon Red when I was a child. I played pokémon religiously for years. I lost touch with it as I grew up. You have made me fall in love with pokémon again

so about that

There's sad irony in the fact we were all so worried about Magma Hideout, when in reality it's Aqua that's really crippled things.
