I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother - I'm glad you go to spend time with her and your family before she passed. My experience with my grandpa passing was similar, he slowly passed - thankfully he didn't suffer too long, and I choose to remember him as the healthy vibrant artist of life that I knew growing up. FAMILY is everything - much love to you Aileen.
I am so sorry for your loss. A big change I want to see in this world is people being kind towards other and following the golden rule of treating others how you want to be treated. I feel like that is so important becuz us human beings are very fragile and we need to be surrounded with love and kindness.
The change I would like to see are people living a more authentic life instead of being unhappy drones. My heart goes out to you on the passing of your grandmother.
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. Mine passed away in June in the same way -- a stroke which put her in a coma. She died later that night with most of her family around her, including me. I love that you focused on yourself and your family at that time, which is what I did too. It's important to grieve, but also to look around and see what's left. My gran left a legacy behind her, maybe not on a worldwide scale, but certainly in her community. Everyone says I'm a lot like her, and I love that. I know I made her proud, and I'm sure you did the same for your grandmother. x
i'm sorry about your grandma too! I am so proud of mine, she lived a full life and had created so much in this world. We had enough time to say goodbye and we are very happy for her now.
Sorry to hear about your grandmother's passing, glad you had an opportunity to be with her. Congrats on your movie and thank you for sharing your favorites.
So sorry to hear about your grandmother. Grieving times can be hard...but it's so neat you were able to step away from work for a bit and just focus on family. That is such a blessing and it really means so much especially during times like those. Hugs, love, and peace to you and your family!! Love the August favs too BTW 😉
A change that I would love to see in the world is for there to be worldwide acceptance of everybody for who they are no matter what gender, race, etc. I truly believe that in this day and age we should move past the stereotypes and gender roles that were created for us so many years ago and that we need to start living in a modern way that sees everybody as equals.
The main change in the world that I want to see is people opening their eyes to different races, genders, beliefs, etc. I still can't believe that in 2016 we still have so much hate and closed-mindedness. People are so quick to be angry and harsh whereas, I'd like to see people look at things with a different perspective, one where they can put the shoe on the other foot. I'm so sorry for your loss as well. I hope only the best for you!
A change I want to see this world is that people start giving others the benefit of the doubt without judging them for their physical appearance. With this idea how are we supposed to allow change happen if we don't give each individual a chance for change?
My favs for August are: Tyler Henry..basically the only time I watch TV. What a gifted young man. Book- The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday..couldn't put it down. Writing on Evernote. I write constantly about my thoughts, feelings, ideas, conversations. I like the simplicity of this tool. Thanks for sharing and sorry for your loss.
I´m so sorry for your lost but i´m so glad you got to spend time with her the last moments 🤗Some of my favorites this moth: Ben Howard music, & a ted talk about why we should talk to strangers :)
Haha, listening to you just reminded me that the latest chapter of "Winter Woods" should have been uploaded today on Webtoon:p (thanks for the recommendations!)
Yes, Marie's interview with Tony was SO good - I've watched it a couple times and keep going back. I pray for fulfillment everyday - thanks for sharing your insight on this interview, I always love hearing your valuable perspective. I find Tony's shift towards the art of fulfillment so interesting - and I needed to hear that! I'm in the middle of Marianne Williamson's "From Tears to Triumph" right now and it speaks towards understanding the meaning behind suffering. I'm personally working on finding that balance between recognizing & understanding suffering and choosing not to suffer when I don't need to. I agree with Tony - no one NEEDS to suffer, but what about when you DO suffer? I believe there is deep meaning behind it that can be used as a compass towards where we need to be. I have become really interested in understanding it's place in our lives as human beings seeking fulfillment - I also believe suffering / challenge can bring balance, contrast and dimension to a life seeking the full range of human experience - What are your thoughts? So much love
Ooh I'll put that Marianne Williamson book on my list - love her. I agree with you, suffering and challenge can open your eyes to new lessons and shift your life. I do feel like most suffering (in the first world) is self created... and so realizing that, we can decide not to let ourselves suffer as much. I watched that video when I was overwhelmed with my to do list and what I wanted to get done each day... when I realized that I really did not have to feel overwhelmed and cause myself to suffer from being too hard on myself. I let it go and decided I'd slow down in peace.
The change I want to see in the world is a tie between ending world hunger, and ending animal abuse. Animals get mistreated every single day and we can stop that. World hunger is something we chose to not help. People need to share what they have in order to live.
Those comics are so cute! I can't read on screens, my eyes and my head just wanna explode, it's not relaxing to me :c i wish i had an endless supply of books ♥
I'm sorry for your loss, Aileen. Sending big hugs from France 🇫🇷 😘 By the way, i'll watch the interview you mentionned anddddd i can't wait for your next travel vlog and next Words of Wisdom ! ❤️
Thank you for ur reply :) it made my day! I am heading to a university in hk now to be the MC and thats my biggest fear! and seeing ur message now feel like ur reply encouraged me to challenge myself haha
may your grandma rest in peace 💓 I hope you're doing well Aileen, please always remember that you have your loyal friends and supporters here for you 💘
I just listened to some of the covers you've done and wow- you have an absolutely beautiful voice. I got goosebumps listening to you singing. you're so incredibly talented 💞
You should try out whispersync books, which is the best of both worlds, both visual, highlighting, and audio. For example I have the life changing magic of tidying up on kindle format, I added the audiobook for about $3, and while I listen, the words on the page are highlighted as I go. I can still go back and highlight (when not driving of course) and I get a context for the content. Whispersync means you can go back and forth from reading or listening on any device and it keeps your place. You can use the audible app or listen from within the kindle app. It's my favorite thing. You can also see what kindle books you already own have audible companions available.
oh I love that video with Marie and Tony Robbins. Marie does an amazing video on RUclips on Inside Quest, I'd so recommend it as I think you'd love it x
exactly the same thing happened to my nan :( was horrible, my friend died valentine's day then my nan died 2 days after... she was in a coma and didn't wake up, we all stayed in hospital with her and talked to her before she passed
+Lavendaire That is so nice :) it was heartbreaking especially for my grandad, they had been together since the 50s I think so a very long time. thank you for replying to my comment I feel so special :D I'm a big fan and your video on tidying the konmari way influenced me hugely
Hey !!! My name is Vanessa and I'm 14 years old my ideal change that would make the world would be for everyone to open his eyes and put aside the differences that no longer existed racism by others to others who did not care the skin color or nationality because God created us something different. Because that is what makes each person different and unique ok if we are not all perfect but that does not have to insult or belittle by as it is, because this world is very beautiful to be damaged by things like that. Aileen sorry for what happened to him hope your grandmother and she recovers 😐😐
What about grief? Isn't grief necessary? Or at least unavoidable? It seems the only way to avoid grief (over breakups, deaths, etc.) is to trade it in for loneliness. UNLESS he's talking about something like moksha or spiritual liberation which is accessed through a state of detachment (from relationships as well as everything else). Maybe I should just watch the video, haha.
It might not be avoidable but you can control the level of grief you experience -- in the video Tony talks about starting w/ a 20 min rule to then a 20 second rule. Like he and his family gave themselves 20 minutes to feel their suffering, then move on from it. Now it takes them 20 seconds. Start to think about it like that! You can grieve, but you have the power over whether you fall into a vicious cycle of grieving and feeling horrible for years or decide to pick yourself up and move on with your life.
So sorry for your loss. Audible has Immersion Reading which allows you to read your e-book while listening to an audiobook. Books that have the Whispersync for Voice feature have it. I love this feature. This page has steps for how to do it with the Kindle app: audible.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4539/kw/immersion%20reading/related/1

I haven't found a good solution to interact with a podcast audience. How do you communicate with your podcast fans?
I haven't either! I tell them to leave a comment on my blog (my podcasts are all posted under their own blog post) but no one really does lol.
