- Today follow along as we install the Seems Legit Garage Ford 8.8 differential swap kit into this turbo M54 powered BMW E46 330ci drift car.
This kit fixes all of the weak points in the drivetrain and replaces everything from the transmission back. It uses a TIG welded custom subframe that has OEM pickup points, a 3.5" aluminum driveshaft to suit whatever engine/trans combo you are running, GForce custom axles, and a fully rebuilt Ford 8.8 differential with a carbon clutch LSD.
Install took about 5 hours although we were not rushing and it easily could have taken 3.5.
We recommend this kit for everything from drifting to drag racing and road racing. It has been proven in every form of racing.

I have this kit on my 02 330i with an ls3/t56 magnum f and its a nice beefy kit.
Sounds like a sick build! Do you have any socials to follow??
@@VictorPitstop I am too lazy to document any of it with my real job hogging time but maybe when its done I'll post a kind of guide for what I ran into with e46 stuff(Just need to get exhaust done and some wiring since it'll be a street car). Mike from SLG was very helpful when I also had random questions about e46 stuff like the new rear wheel bearings I pressed in wobbling before the axle nuts got torqued ect.
@@Do_Nothing bro show us the car !
Dylan Lobster’s build is clean! I’d love to know how that M54 holds up!
the first or the second one? :D
@@patrykkowalski6 🤣
Making me consider an e46 cuz the e36 coupe market is so ass right now.
I haven't looked at e36s in a while. Can you still get one for under 2k?
@@nhilist5774 fuck no lol. Theyre under 240sx tax right now. The shittiest examples, non runners, rust buckets, "drift builds" aka gutted dented ac deleted heaps for THOUSANDS.
Only way is finding those rare decent examples parked in back yards.

E46 is Life! A better E36
@@SeemsLegitGarage facts. i have a e46 sedan 325xi
Car and upgrades look sweet, the chromes not that much :D Great video!
Hey am I good using a 2006 explorer 8.8? I noticed the 06 looks slightly different then the 2008-2010 8.8s the 2006 8.8 I wanna get does have double mounts on the housing snout. It just looks like maybe the diff covers are different? I know your website says 06-10
You can email a picture to Sales@seemslegitgarage.com and we can help confirm you have the right one
Hi, can I get this in South Africa? Busy with a build which would be a first for our area
Yes we ship anywhere in the world.
Looking forward to seeing more of this build!
That is an insane drivetrain upgrade. I go looking for stronger axles for my e36 M3 and I find unobtainium drive train for 2000hp drag cars.
This is a drift car, and we use them on all of our road course cars.
@@SeemsLegitGarage On my list of things to do one day. Once I hit about 900HP on the turbo and get a parachute. The 8.8 ford diff seems to be the closest thing to a bullet proof solution. It seems like the drifters are destroying every remaining BMW diff they can find as soon as they hit over 400 hp.
Anyway to upgrade this setup with the ford super 8.8? Or provide super 8.8 and receive carbon clutch lsd?
No the reason we didn't use the super 8.8 is there is no different gear ratios available.
@@SeemsLegitGarageso far I see Gear Ratios: 3.55, 3.73, 3.91, 4.11, 4.56. Any plans on developing the super 8.8 kit for e46? Maybe when more ratios are out?
Great video, can’t wait to throw it in my e46!
Question: When doing the subframe swap I see you have 4 bolts the 2 rear bolts and the front which is normally a stud/nut style I see ya used two bolts. Is there a reason for this?? If its better/stronger then what bolts is it that you used???
Can I order this in the UK with the diff included? What about the driveshaft? Seems expensive to ship
Yea for sure, email us and I can quote out the shipping
@@SeemsLegitGarage amazing. Expect an email when I save up in 5 years 😂
Can anyone pmo with where her bought the overfenders from? ik of hm sport aero and clique tuning
I’m…Im so jealous.
Can you do that to an xi? I assume different ratios.
why did you use the revshift green poly subframe bushings? Sponsored im assuming?
No, they are local and are the best we've used. The Green work great.
i have z4 e86 non m, and this kit should work right?
yes it can
You guys like the n54 or m54 more??!
N54 buries the speedo and hasnt died yet. Cant say the same for M54 womp womp
How’s driving with no rear sway bar?
Dylan really likes it
Hi I have a bone stock e46 325xi and I’m looking into transmission swaps because my current auto trans is about to take a dump on me. In the long run I’m just trying to have a fun street car/daily driver. I’m trying to keep the m54 for now and possibly upgrade later. What would you guys suggest?
Sell it and get a non x drive
DCT or 8hp swap…im boutta do that on my turbo 325i
Manual swap, headers and a tune go a long way. Or save up for a turbo. Thats what i did. 8PSI on pump wakes these cars up
@@beefcake8920hi, im looking into doing an 8hp swap do u roughly have a list of the things your buying??
Do you have a way to couple ford t5 to a e34 differential?
Im sure we could make a custom shaft
@@SeemsLegitGarage I was hoping for an adapter because it's a budget build and stage 2 is one piece shaft and 8.8 all at once
Sounds so good
To bad these are never in stock.
They are in stock :)
Do you make this subframe and swap kit for an e85 z4?
Yes because that uses the same e46 rear suspension right?
@@SeemsLegitGarage I would think so, but idk what all they share chassis wise.
Its the same in the rear@@lc393stroker
we do it often
@SeemsLegitGarage I see the rear diff kit on yalls website, but haven't found the cradle or seen anywhere that says that subframe is included.
