That's true ! I think he'll love it 🔥 I don't really know when I'll be able to make another reaction with him about Mamamoo, but I'll keep it in mind when we will 😊
Glad you introduced Lucas to Mamamoo. Not sure why you said Starry Night wasn't one of their biggest hits. It's probably their 2nd biggest hit after Hip. I don't know about the sales figures but Starry Night was the first MMM song to go platinum in Korea with over 100 million streams. It has the 2nd most YT views after Hip and it earned 9 wins on the tv music shows, their most wins for any song. As to the dance, Mamamoo was involved in creating the choreography, which includes sign language meaning "The stars are shining." Wheein signs with hearing impaired fans at fanmeets and I believe they incorporated sign language in the choreo for other songs.
@@deianira6130 Interesting! I 'd love to hear why you think so but even if that's true I'm not sure how it's relevant to my comment about her statement that Starry Night wasn't one of MMM's biggest hits. Starry Night and Hip are the only two MMM songs to go Platinum in Korea. As much as I love Aya it marks the beginning of MMM's downward slide in popularity in Korea - it was their first title track since Piano Man (2015) not to hit the top ten on the weekly GAON/Circle chart and the first since UOAY (also 2015) not to earn a win on the tv music shows. I looked for evidence that Aya is more popular internationally but what I found was that Aya and Wind Flower were their only title tracks between 2017-20 not to reach the top ten on the Billboard world singles chart and Aya has less than 130 million views on yt vs over 220 M for Starry Night. Perhaps you're basing it on reaction videos, where Aya might come across as more interesting and unusual to international fans, esp since the guitar riff in Starry Night is reminiscent of western songs like Prayer in C.
Hi ! Thank you fo your comment ✨ Yes it's true that Starry Night was also a big hit ! I think I said that because it was maybe less mainstream for international fans (but I'm not sure, it was just my point of view). As big hit I was more thinking about HIP or Egotistic or GogoBebe. But again it's really personal 😁 Thanks for watching my reaction 🫶🏼
@@laurane_reactions YW! One of the reasons I watch reactions is to hear different perspectives and opinions. It surprises me that you think of Starry Night as less mainstream for i-fans. I always thought Starry Night was a very mainstream western-style song because of the guitar riff I mentioned in my reply to deianira. That riff had people accusing them of plagiarizing Robin Schultz's Prayer in C and others pointed out a similarity with other western songs. Btw, I made a mistake in the reply to deianira. Wind Flower also didn't earn a music show win so Aya wasn't the first title track since 2015 not to score a win. Again, thanks for sharing MMM with Lucas. Hope he has fun checking out kpop with you!
@@kudgeond755 Oh that's interesting (for the guitar riff) ! I personally really loooove this song, but for example when I went to a festival in Paris and Mamamoo played Starry Night the general public knew it a little, in opposite to HIP or GogoBebe that the crowd went wild for. Lucas really liked to discover kpop, so I'm very happy ;))) Also (since Mamamoo is my number one ever) I wanted him to know that they have very various styles, so in case he didn't like this song he would still listen to more songs from them 😂😉
would love hear his thoughts on mamamoo windflower as filmed hong kong back ground

I think internationally or to new people learning about Mamamoo, AYA is more popular than Starry night
