    I bought one four years ago and I have to agree with everything you said. It’s a very powerful little machine. The drag stake definitely makes it dig, and dig, and dig. Ultimately, we’ve been very happy with it. The only thing I found was that after the second season, I didn’t get all of the fuel out of it prior to storage and the fuel line gasket on the back of the tank shrunk. It was a quick repair and taught me a valuable lesson to both run it dry and dump it. Also, the de-thatcher works very well and aerates, too. Great stuff!

      Do Your tiller still work well now? I am not sure i need 2-stroke or 4-stroke, just worry about 2-stroke easy broke or gone. Thanks.

    • @michaelandcolinspop
      @michaelandcolinspop Год назад +2

      @@dennischen2448 Yep, still going strong. So far this season, I’ve used it to prep and level a 22’x4’ patch of mixed terrain (gravel/dirt/clay) for a new sidewalk and to de-weed and cultivate two decent-sized gardens. A bigger 4-stroke would be overkill for me, so the Earthquake is about perfect.

    I bought an electric Mantis - I can't remember - could have been fifty years ago - it still runs like a charm. I haven't had a single problem with it and I use it every year - not as much now as I am in my nineties, but I did use it this spring cleaning up. My neighbor bought a gas one at the same time. I think he is on his fourth one, but his new one was electric. You are a worker - are you retired military?

Called the company and registered it (1 1/2 years after purchase), then talked to Tech and they sent me a new carb. Put it on and immediately problem solved. Had to grind a little plastic tab off the new carb for the fuel line to fit and now it runs much better, after adjusting it to run a little richer.

      Where the tiller splines are if you take the pin out and take the blades off and turn them around. This makes it so the blades are in a more aggressive position. That might work for you.

    I own one! Can copy Pete B's comments. It will work in untilled and sandy soil, even with grass but is not meant for large jobs. But for mixing things into already tilled or already garden ready areas, it is a precise machine. I live in a hot climate and know 2 cycle engines can get hot here but this has had no issues as of yet; in the 80's right now. Everyone go gardening and connect with your families. They deserve you and you deserve them. At first the kiddo's are resistant but in the end they have a good time and hide it. Don't give up because gardening is a memory i have with WWII vet Grandfather and I want to leave that with my son as well.

    I have one very similar to the one you have shown, except mine doesn't have the drag stake or wheels. I purchased it from menards for roughly 100$ with full intent to work it until it died (expecting less than a month). Notice I said until it died. It has yet to die. I have almost destroyed the entire thing, but it refuses to die.
    -Handle bars are bent
    -Power button is starting to fail
    -Sheet metal tillers are bent up
    -Engine RPM is probably excess of 10k (bad tune from factory?)
    -Doesn't seem to have selected rpm between idle and wide open.
    -The pin that holds the tillers on gets bent up by rocks and roots and fly's off
    -Gear box gets extremely hot
    But I love it!,
    I also have a larger 2' tiller I use for certain applications, but the little one is awesome. I have wrapped it up with so many roots, so tightly that the roots began to smoke and you couldn't even cut the roots off, you have to pull the tillers off. I have jammed it solid with huge rocks, but it keeps going. It must be the most terrifying machine I own. The rpm on my tiller sounds at least 2x the speed yours runs, and when it hits a rock it launches the entire machine into low earth orbit. I've probably put 12+ tanks of fuel through it, always seems to start well. I've manged to bend the handle bars into trash, so likely next year I will have to fabricate something. I cannot speak good enough for such a cheap tiller. You certainly get more than what you pay for, if you remember its not competitive to a slow and steady garden tiller. I can run it beside my house, right up to the siding without worrying stopping it. I use it around old tree stumps without worry. Like you said, its very light. If it had one improvement, I wish it had a kicks stand or wheels like yours. 10/10 would buy again.

      I tried the BTE garden for three years and produced nothing. When the wood chips start to break down, it robs nitrogen to do that and nothing grew, I have a video on that. Plus once the wood chips start to break down, weeds start to grow and you have to add more chips on top to stop the weeds and start the whole process over again. I've had a 100% success rate with tilling and amending my soil I have videos on that too. Thanks for watching.
