  • Amanda McCavour is a Toronto-based artist who uses a sewing machine to create “thread drawings” that are part of her large-scale embroidered installations. This unique approach allows her to transform two-dimensional sketches into three-dimensional installations, resembling familiar settings such as a vibrant garden.
In Poppies, McCavour explores the dichotomies of fragility and strength, and negative and positive space, within her embroidered scene. This unconventional installation features a spray of delicate flowers suspended upside-down from the ceiling, inviting viewers into a visually stunning experience that pushes the boundaries of both drawing and embroidery.
