I've never been a big fan of aviators, but this pair simply looks perfect. Especially, with this subtle and sophisticated tint. Great job as always from Robert. His passion for the trade simply shines through these golden frame amber tinted glasses. Easily 10/10 from me.
I would definitely say that these frames with that tint suit you absolutely perfectly! They are different from most of the frames that you have in your collection and just like you mentioned after wearing them and reviewing the footage you started to like them more. Absolutely great video and review. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hands down the best optician and glasses advisory service I have ever had. A fantastic experience from start to finish, Robert is exceptional in matching the right pair for you. This 40% amber tint with flash coating could well be my next choice. Absolutely stunning.
I've just ordered my first prescription glasses. Varifocus Zeiss smartlife with PhotoFusion lenses with the amber flash coating. I can hardly wait for them to be ready for me... So stoked 😊 so glad my optometrist had the same 'device' to measure my face you use. I've paired them with a Serengeti frame silver colored with a hint of gold...
Beautiful frames! I am watching this video through my l.a. Eyeworks Gilroy in Basketball with 30% Amber Gradient / Amber Flash. So grateful for you recommending tinted lenses and helping me choose several different colours; life is surprisingly enhanced and more relaxing through tinted lenses. 😀 I loved your comment at the end: "If you have a vision for a style of glasses that you want to wear, GO FOR IT!" Great advice.
They do suit you. They look great. When we look at ourselves up close in the mirror, as opposed to the visual perspective from another person at distance, can be slightly different. The GAST Mente in acetate may be a nice alternative budget friendly option for this type of tint. I’m intrigued by the Ahlem frame and will reach out to see if it would suit me!
I’ve just realised you put this lens and tint in my gold frame JMM Stanley Kubrick Full Metal Jacket you sent last month. I’m loving everything about the tint and it matches perfectly the frame. It’s a great addition. Fantastic video too Rob, very enjoyable 👍
Thanks Robert, as always ❤️ Yes, I chose that exact tint for your pair, even though it was different to the idea you had. I was nervous about whether you would appreciate me making that decision, so now I'm particularly happy.
I feel I have a difficult time embracing the idea of tints because as a photographer, the first thing I do is remove color casts from the image which could be thought of as a tint. However, the tint in these glasses give contrast and depth to the subject without altering the original scene. I find your final thoughts compelling as I think you look the most amazing in stylish frames. Elegant with an edge. They just seem perfect.
That's exactly why people should get it as their first foray into tinted lenses. It's subtle both aesthetically and in it's effect. Like you said, there is that extra depth and also a bit more warmth, but otherwise it is fairly neutral.
Robert, these glasses are my favorite pair of glasses on you to date. Beauty does not need to shout. Does the sky shout? A rose? A wave falling upon the sand? In the Louvre, my favorite painting is Chardin's Basket of Peaches, circa 1768.The great British art critic, Robert Hugh's once said, "The chief virtue of art of silence." None more exemplified than a painting of a quiet, still, unmovable basket of fruit. These gold framed glasses, with their warm amber tint, are as subtle and beautiful as a Chardin, an artistic and industrial design masterpiece... thanks to you and Ahlem Manai-Platt.
Hi David, I always look forward to your comments, genuinely. Modern art like yours is more my kind of thing, personally, but it's impossible not to appreciate the many masterpieces on show at the Louvre (including the rooms themselves).
If _“beauty doesn’t need to shout,”_ how do you rationalize recording something for social media, dramatic cinematography, romantic background music &c. This paradigm (social media, fashion, marketing, advertising, persuasive rhetoric &c…) couldn’t be farther from _“not shouting”_ if it tried. This is precisely the *opposite* of _“not shouting.”_ If you’re interested in functionalist design philosophy, look into the work of the Bauhaus. For an articulation of humility in design (typography), read Beatrice Warde, The Crystal Goblet. You’re conflating _“subtle industrial design”_ with pseudo-minimalist pastiche.

David is an acclaimed artist, so he knows a thing or two about capturing beauty. I think there's a distinction between the product itself and the techniques I use to showcase it. My aim with these videos is always to help people build an emotional connection with eyewear so that they feel great about wearing their glasses and/or sunglasses. He was simply referring to the featured pair.
As good as this video is, it doesn't do justice to just how beautiful this pair of glasses actually is; they are even more stunning in the flesh. Out of everything I brought in and tried on they are the pair that lingers most in my mind. The frame is a masterpiece and the lens is absolutely perfect for them; they complement each other perfectly. I wanted to take it away with me! They look amazing on you and I am jealous that they belong to you and not me. I am thinking about adding them to a Cartier 0270 in gold. Maybe just another 10% on the strength of the tint and with an amber photochromic to make it a touch more versatile.
I'm so glad you appreciated them. I've had that reaction from everybody who has seen them, and yet strangely we haven't sold that many (relatively speaking compared against our most popular models) That would be a lovely combination with the 0270. Remember we're also doing this tint on your Akoni.
This lens tint could be too light for certain situations and certain people, but for the people who can pull it off and for those situations in which it's not too light, this is definitely a lens tint option worth considering.
Is this the champagne frame & do you stock it in the grey gold? Would be interested in the grey gold with this tint, such a great frame & tint combo. Great video!
The tint looks a little bit like the tint on basic Eyezen lenses. I had Eyzen lenses for three years and never got used to the awful soup color, it even made my severe protan color blindness worse when looking through the Eyezen lenses. I now have two frames with Zeiss smartlife clear lenses with a platinum coating and one frame with Zeiss smartlife lenses with photofusion x in pioneer with a jade flash coating and never been happier with my glasses (I even see more difference in colors while wearing the photofusion x).
@@Meowlico I have no idea what coating they used on the lenses, I only know that the lenses gave a very slight brown/yellow tint to everything (just enough to make all whites off white).
I like these on you more than many of the pairs you have. That's not to say your other pairs don't suit you, just that these really, really suit you - at least in this setting, context, and outfit.
I've always wanted to see what tint would work with the "Cutler and Gross x Great Frog London Crossbones" frames in sand crystal would look like, and this might be it.
Ho can you provide me the same color uncut lenses . And also let me know how much does it cost me with delivery. I have a cartier panthere rimless frame silver color . I would like to get this tint in my frame .
Can you tell me why is it difficult to find maroon colour sunglasses lens that basically gives a pinkish view when looked at the sun and are fibre sunglasses lens not uv protective?
Robert, this was one of my favorite reviews you've made yet. Beautiful setting and camera work, and a brilliant way to show off the difference a great tint can make. I've been wondering, do you or the team at Spectacle Factory have any opinions on State Optical frames? As a viewer from the U.S. I'm keen to know what your thoughts are on an independent American brand.
All glasses look good on this guy because he has a full head of hair. When will you do videos for glasses based on face type and for those with bald hair
The lens tint does look somewhat vintage/retro, and the aviator style frame is one of the two or three most perfect styles to host the retro tinted lenses, the others being the wayfarer and clubmaster styles.
Hello Robert, recently got Zeiss Smartlife Pro with Photofusion X and Duravision Flash after watching tons of your videos. While overall i'm happy with my purchase, i'd like to ask a few things: 1. Does amber flash coating leaves a reflection at the temporal side of the lenses 2. Does flash coating help in filter/reflect some light wavelength as they are on tinted lenses? Thank you in advance
Yes, I love the golden glow it provides around objects! You can kind of see it in the beginning of the video. How much you experience depends on the frame choice and fit - which I'm sure your optician carefully considered with you during your consultation with them.
