Household recycling centres are the best places for finding decent deals, because first of all they are free and secondly you'll find more expensive newer items there, I found a fully working Lenovo gaming laptop with charger and carry case, I re installed windows on its ssd, and sold it the very next day for £80.
I have found some good items that people have discarded but the household recycling centres I know of would not let you take items from there. Not at all environmentally friendly unfortunately
