  • J. Cole fans have said this was the next one we needed to listen to, so here it is, "4 Your Eyez Only". We did the lyric video to ensure we got the full message, and what a message this one contains! It's worth the listen even if you don't like this kind of music. It is really a story set to background music.
Lyric video used in this reaction: • J. Cole - 4 Your Eyez ...
This is a reaction video for the purposes of comment, criticism, and education about the song and artist. We believe these videos provide additional free exposure to new audiences for the artist and will drive additional views to the original video.

J Cole is one of the best storytellers the reason a lot of people have him as their favourite rapper is because how relatable his lyrics are and how he speaks on topics that affect a lot of us

This is actually a connecting song to a whole concept album of which he mentions in ‘4 your eyez only.’ 4 your eyez only is a whole album where he delves into much deeper subject matter of the mindset of his friend that he lost, and that encapsulates what he believes would be the messages he(his friend that was laid to rest) would’ve liked to have passed to his daughter had he the chance to elaborate. A definite listen if you liked the song, might be a little out of your comfort zone but this song is like the trailer to the movie that is the album.

Probably my 1000th time hearing it and makes me tear up every time. Cole is amazing with delivering heartfelt messages along with clever lyrical composition. Once you guys do a couple more Cole reactions and get more comfortable with his style, I would love to see a full album reaction of either Forest Hills Drive or 4 Your Eyez only. Both albums are put together like a proper movie where the songs build on each other and the story unfolds across the tracks. Thats why 4 Your Eyez only has always been my personal favorite album even though it wasnt coles most popular album, the storytelling is next level.

You two are so inspiring. J Cole would be so happy to see this. The way you have demonstrated such a beautiful growth mindset by venturing into a genre completely foreign to you deserves recognition. Coach put it beautifully, 'this isn't a song, it's a story told to music'. That's quintessentially what hip hop is about. Sharing ones lived experience, lessons learned, social observations etc. You are just scratching the surface. If you persist, you'll uncover some of the best music ever written. Obviously, it won't have the Hendrix guitar, the Jagger swag etc, but the lyricism and creativity is second to none. Appreciate you both.

Idk if you guys already know, but js to make sure. J.Cole has a whole album named "For Your Eyez only". And its clearly dedicated to his dead friend`s daughter, thats why its called "for YOUR eyez only". So hes not talkin about his daughter and his upcomin death, but instead hes talkin about his friend who is now sadly dead and his daughter. He wrote this Album and Song from the perspective of his dead friend who got shot at the age of 22. Its basically tellin the life of j.coles friend so that his daughter could understand the way of his life. And he´s talkin about the problems and obstacles of being a black man livin in america. But whats really mindblowing is, that the last verse of the song is from J.Cole´s perspective and these are the personal words from J.Cole to his friends daugther. You should really listen to his whole Album, its as good as this song.

It is IMO his best song and one of the most important rap songs ever released. Watching Mrs coach’s face drop when she realized what this really was on the final verse of the album took my breath away and brought a tear to my eye. This song was the ending song for the album which tied everything together because throughout the whole album you dont really know who hes talking about until that final verse. And then we realize That the whole album is about his friend stuck in this cycle cuz thats all he knows and he knows he will probably die soon and hes ok with it, but throughout the album he slowly gets changed by his girl and when his daughter gets born he finally realizes theres more to life but ultimately its to late and he gets murdered

I'm sure there's other comments explaining but I thought I'd add part of my interpretation. It's important to know the album this comes from to get the full message. the whole album goes back and forth between j Cole and his friends perspective who was killed too young. this song starts with his friends perspective giving his thoughts on why he feels he's going to go out early and he's trapped and can't out pace his past mistakes and the kind of things he was telling Cole along the way. then eventually it switches to Cole's perspective talking directly to his friends daughter and his view on his own past along with his friends past. The whole album is intense and hard hitting, just an incredible word smith

We're not being political. There are real issues that face real people that this song mentions. We give our thoughts on that. Thanks for watching.

hip hop is a mixed bag. there's a lot of social commentary, there's fun music to party to, there's pop rap, country rap, rock rap, all kinds of sounds. the social commentary type of rap (conscious rap) is usually more revered because it tells the stories of people who are usually unheard or misrepresented. I hope ya'll can find some songs that you could add to your playlist and good luck with your channel
