- This is a video I shot and edited a few years ago. I am removing my videos from Vimeo....so I did some tweaking, and have posted it again here - better than ever!
The Empire Mica is an historical and amazing dive. As you will notice - its LOADED with life!
Wow! Awesome dive! Lots of big amberjacks!
Great photography! Love the soundtrack too. I dove it 1983 thru 1994. Has really collapsed, the spare prop was on the deck as a great subject with a diver next to it for scale. Found the binnacle lantern on the first 10 min of my first dive on her in '83. Was on the gunnel, wedged under a pipe put there when they blew the superstructure in 1964.
I dove it with Darrel Oaks back in 91'. It sure has changed a lot since then, lot more distressed now.
Saw my first Mako on that first dive too. With a stringer full of Jacks for the ride back then have that Mako disappear! Right, here you hold this bleeding string of fish!
My grandfathers brother died onboard the empire mica hope I can dive it one day looks amazing!
Same as mine
Michael Hickman really he was from Bristol what about yours ?
I dove her back in the '80s with Laney Rinehart who took the prop off her. She sure was in better shape then.
