Is a wooden katana not a Bo-ken? I made one 26 years ago, and a matching tanto, for Aikido practice...mine were made out of a type of mahogany, not sure which, and got a lot of use! I still have both now, but not as beautiful as yours..Thank you for showing us how it is done!
Hard to make out, but it looks like the scroll says "When 50 years pass, return to me" and then his name and the current date. Why do I get the feeling that master Young Je made this wooden katana as practice before making a real one?
it's all a detail the paper with the writing inside the handle of the katana with the screws. And from work what to say, in detail also knowing Young. Best Regards from Basque Country
I wonder what Miyamoto Musashi would have done with that in 1612 in his duel against Sasaki Kojiro! I think the one he made was a bit longer though! I have no doubt that Musashi would have loved the sword as it is beautiful!!!!

This is class work. I read of stories that the great sword makers of Japan put into making the sword. Here was no exception.
