For people wondering... the 'technical analysis' was sent to us by Sam Collins but Matt put on a funny voice to differentiate between segments. By no means mocking Sam at all, doesn't sound anything like him lol!!
wish you didn't put on the voice, the technical analysis was actually quite interesting and that doesn't take away from the comedic analysis Matt did himself.

A very interesting comparison / technical analysis of some front wings from over the years, and great to see such a fine selection from some of those great years of F1 too!👍
I would pay to see Matt trying to explain complex part of an F1 car with the technical director standing next to him just sobbing as he talks about the 2020 "sidepod dancefloors"
I presume that 98 Williams was painted up in the newer livery as a promo car, as F1 teams often use an old car but done up in the new livery for events and stuff. As an example, McLaren used their 2018 car, done up in their current livery, for the promo photoshoot they did for the Gulf Oil announcement.
rear wings were extremly simple structures from the 80's until very recent years, with the exeption of the '83 strange designs and the 2005 rule changes, there isn't much going on with them until the DRS era. Sidepods in the other hand, are extremly complex areas of the car, a lot of aerodinamic stuff happen inside and around them.
At 10.23 you say they got rid of the centre wing for weight reduction, thats not even close to accurate. It was a rule change in 2009 that meant they couldn't put anything in the centre 250mm of the wing. Thats why all the teams have one big wing in 2008 and then its gone in 2009. Its also where the super important y250 vortex name comes from, which I feel should have been mentioned. I was hoping for quite an in-depth comparison of these noses talking about the change in understanding of air flow and the change from in-board to out-board air and the vortex generating winglets. I hope you can get someone to that some time.
I'm wondering when Matt had the time to do this video when he's playing Among Us and Fall Guys every day... unless he's an alien. Scott was right all this time, he's the imposter.

Yeah Lol
Yeah I was just wondering, "what the hey is that technical analysis voice, is that supposed to be a Sam Collins impression?" 😁
Hello
wish you didn't put on the voice, the technical analysis was actually quite interesting and that doesn't take away from the comedic analysis Matt did himself.
LOL I was literally about to comment "Matt is the next Sam Collins".😂

I read this comment as soon as he said that 😂😂
the counter should've been for "DNF" rather than "revolutionary" hahaha but still a great video!
Yeah or "Bobblage"
98 DNF's
There were also a few DNSs sprinkled here and there that he mistakenly referred to as DNFs.

WTF1: Lets find out how front wings have changed!
Ferrari: WRITE THAT DOWN! WRITE THAT DOWN!!
tell me I am not the only one who spotted the "haas" logo on the marussia nose and was a bit surprised
why? Benetton was all over the '85 Alfa Romeo. BMW even on a Williams 2 years before they started to use BMW engines.
HAAS is a CNC machine company, Marussia uses HAAS's CNC machines.
I was just looking for someone who commented on that, so I don’t need to. thanks for that.
Both are massive failures soooo
Take a shot everytime he says "DNF"
Are you trying to kill me
Every 5 DNF’s maybe, every DNF would 100% cause death if followed through all the way

Only one of these wings got a race win 😂
Didn’t the bar and the benneton both get wins? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nice to see Sam Collins take some time from his schedule to help in this video
Matt really just stroking some front wings
Love your content WTF1, you inspired me to start my own youtube channel.
Thank you for motivation.

vid suggestion: How have f1 rear wings change?
if he did it already send me the link
I like how the channel is evolving - last time we had JB on a podcast, today, guest appearance of Sam Collins. Good job WTF1!

I love the before 2014 front wings, those high nose wings, its BOOTIFUL
"Sam Collins'" analisys is lit! :)

10/10, i want to watch more videos of Matt trying to explain stuff. (the actual facts are good too)
I would pay to see Matt trying to explain complex part of an F1 car with the technical director standing next to him just sobbing as he talks about the 2020 "sidepod dancefloors"
Be cool you had a wind tunnel to use to see how each wing would work

Really wish it was a bit more in depth on how the air flow would interact with the wings and such. I think it would have been neat
God i hope matt talks about the dance floors and boblage on commentary this weekend
Little Finger Test and Bobblage to become key technical aspects to look at from now on
What did Matt smoke before this?
Love all the technical terms
i love those 2010 f1 cars THE NOSE BRO
the Sam impression was great
You are the guy who always works in my garage, right? Whichever team I go to, you are always there, and everywhere.
Pérez and Kobayashi was such a cool line up
Matt's impersonation of Sam is actually fkin amazing
Nice to see both revolutionary and historical bobblage represented.
I didn't realise Lloyd Grossman was an expert in Formula One aerodynamics!
Well done at sanitizing em all after the filming
Sammy forgot about the whole change to using the Y250 xD
Hardly a surprise since his expert inputs were only collections of buzzwords anyways...
At the end of the season can we please have Matt do a "Race by race finishing pos rundown" for each team?
Next idea: F1 Sidepods have changed over the years or rear wing changes over the years
rear wings were extremly simple structures from the 80's until very recent years, with the exeption of the '83 strange designs and the 2005 rule changes, there isn't much going on with them until the DRS era.
Sidepods in the other hand, are extremly complex areas of the car, a lot of aerodinamic stuff happen inside and around them.

Matt is the most professional aerodynamics engineer I've ever seen
meh...kinda of:
"yeah, this wing has this strange thing here, and is somehow different from the previous one, but Idk why"
We are gonna call it tHe cLuB
Now rear wings comparison 🔥🔥
I also often find myself walking around various buildings singing the F1 anthem.
Imagine having Matt as an Aerodynamic engineer.
1:24 Intothebarrier is that you?
You guys can take these wings to a wind tunnel and show us the flow lines. Or a CFD one, whichever works best.
When you hearDNF so many times you hear Deana instead
Truly revolutionary bobblage
2004 front wings gave me nostalgia
*looks abit like the 2009 wing*
what? in 2009 the regulations were a lot different, and the front wings had a complete different design than the 2004 ones.
Let's all forget how the noses of 2014 looked like

It sounds as if a Beatle is explaining the technical side of the wings 😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Next time you should do a «how much have the onboard cameras changed»
Do you have drag and lift data for the wings?
Do how F1 cockpits through the years

Cool video! I’m not a fan of the sarcastic voice but do you. Keep up the good work
Matt is still in quarantine mode. Hasn't changed his shirt in a month.
its crazy to see how far reliability and efficiency has come in f1
F1 teams now also have much much much higher budgets and of course all the technology in the world
2011-12 had also most notably the Y250 not only out and upwash
I'm wondering when Matt had the time to do this video when he's playing Among Us and Fall Guys every day...

Brazilian flag next to Barrichello's name is upside down, is that an aerodynamic trick too?
That williams wing is actually from 2000 because that was the first year of BMW-Williams
More of cars in TDF plz

2:45 yeah! :D
That "1998 Williams" looks suspiciously like a BMW Williams from 2001/2002.
Matty makes an F1 front wing sound like a nightclub
The way you explain the wing sounds like old KSI
The voice of your voice overs for the proper analysis sounds like you smoked together with the German singer Udo Lindenberg😂😂
