A 7 Amperes battery will take 1 hour to charge @ 7 Amperes current and around 1.5 hours @ 5 Amperes current. But it's always good to apply 1/10th of battery current for charging and also every battery has a maximum allowed charging current so that the battery does not over heat during charging. Only lithium batteries can be charged at higher currents as they allow faster charging
You need to add a capacitor to smooth out the ripples! Also then ur charging current will increase and u will get correct battery charging voltage. Ur transformer wires are surely not suitable for 5 amp 12v charger. Whats the point in fitting 1.5 mm sq wire when the transformer wire not that thick?

If u use this charger to charge ups battery, it get heated too much. N not get fully charged to its level. Battery may also get swellen or may get cracked :) 😊 hope u got it
S. Ali Yousif actually those are not LED, those are Diodes. if you use 0-12 transformer then you have to use 4 diodes but for 12-0-12 transformer use only 2 diodes... thanks.
A metal box with no earth! Does your electrical supply system lack an earth wire? If so it would be far wiser to use a plastic or similar ‘insulating’ box, even wood was used ‘in the old days’!
Bad wiring. Add a 2 amp fuse to the primary of the transformer where you taped. Blue center tap wire through the negative of amp meter *making positive out of meter the negative rail, add two .001 uf disc caps parallel to each diode for spikes, add a 4400 uf 25v electrolytic cap across negative blue (center tap) on amp meter and positive out (common cathode), then a 4.7k ohm 2watt across the electrolytic cap, then connect the out of amp meter (+) to terminal block negative, add a .001 uf across the amp meter and another two .001 to each of the amp meter terminals then connect them to the case. Then change that cord to a earthed 3 wire cable. If you do this you would have a safe low noise PSU. you can also add some choke (For Smoothing) from the 12 volt rail of an old PC PSU. to both - and + out then connect the out of chokes to terminal block. I built a version like yours when I was 12 years old, it bothered TV's and radios.

You could have attached a 7012 IC along with 104(0.1uf) to diode . So there will be accurate output .. what u made is good but u can make it better

This is a simple power supply not a charger.
The meter u use that's proper name is Ammeter not Amper meter and the circuit board u use is not pcb so give true information not wrong...
