its weird that your spouses make no mention of the kids being gone if you use the shrine (or even some consequence of like, losing a heart/friendship points with them) maybe it erases their memory of having kids

But how about those platform where you cannot mod? They can't use any mods for the normal stardew game. So it should be realistic that these kids grow up, interact to town, go to library to learn, became teen and have their own farmhouse (not necessarily a neighboring house but just leave the house)
I like the kids in the game, but I'm sad that they can't grow up. It would be neat if the could grow up, move out, and then you can start the game over playing as one of them and you're the grandpa passing the farm down to them.
If you want your kid to be actually usefull name them item id codes Example: [74][434] [74] is for prismatic shard and [434] is for stardrop. Sometimes when your spouse say their name they give you the item :)
