I use blue thread-lock on my pinion set screws and on any screw going into metal. They do not ever come loose until it is time to take it apart.

Just curious, but could you have just used one of the Axial spools for the center diff? If so, is there a particular reason you went with the Vanquish version for that one? I just got a Ryft and am planning on locking the diffs soon, as the planetary gears aren't shimmed properly on the stock setup. Locking everything just seems alot easier than shimming them all myself.
Just using what we could find at the time ... locking the diffs makes sense and I agree
That is very noisy with the new pinion gear. Anyway to reduce the noise from it ?
plastic is quieter but not as durable
you can change the whole setup to a bomber, grease, double sided tape
I've also taken off the gear box cover from behind to expose the pinion and spur gear and it's quieter
Mine is set up for crawling but the drag brake doesn’t hold it.
what motor are you using? I'm using a 540 from HobbyWing ... you might have to set the drag brakes
@@RickysGarageVibes I’m using a trail master 3800kv full drag. It slows it down on flat ground but never on hills.

I don’t think that brass pinion is going to last to long? It looks like it was the wrong pitch too? That would explain noise too… but I could be wrong?

You're going to chew all the gears up
we've since changed the pinion gear, runs much better now and we take it out often @user-ev4sp2ww3j🤝
What do it do, When you Only lock both diff, and not the gearbox..?
My understanding is that the front wheels and rear wheels can rotate at different rates. Locking all three ensures all wheels rotate at the same rate.
What are those allen key drivers you are using?
this one came from ProTek but it didn't last ... this set is even better than ProTek and what I use now

Why does it sound like something is grinding?
both the spur and pinion gears are metal so there's noise ... plastic gets worn so fast, I prefer metal to metal and can take the noise

Why is the transmission so noisy
metal to metal gears makes noise ... don't mind for the durability
Will this change affect the speed limit?
Yes, the motor I upgrade to is a crawler motor, so slower
