Part of me wonders, since we're apparently getting new movies and stuff, if they're using this to get us used to a more big-screen version of this Zord, with the new details.
With the T. rex shin hinges it looks similar to the SOC where they open to reveal the combination port. So far this entire figure seems like a more budget SOC Dino megazord.
I did some math, looking it up, the Megazord was 41 meters tall. 1:144 is a half inch for every 6 feet of the actual thing being scaled. For the height in feet, the Megazord is roughly 134.5 feet tall. Divide that by 6 feet and you get a little over 22, which, when divided by 2 in order to get the inches makes it come out to just under 12 inches. I'm simplifying the math here since I don't want to work with the full decimals, but there's your answer. It should be able to look the Soul of Chogokin version in the optics.
I'd love if they did this for all of the zords throughout the entire series, I'd *kill* for a Samurai Gigazord and all the individual zords and combinations with more paint and some actual articulation
This set looks like a proper translation into modern version of the original toy. I hope we get the Thunder and Zeo megazord and the Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue megazords
My guess is they'll be using season numbers and Megazord order for categorization; so if Dino Megazord is "MZ-0101", "MZ-0102" would be the Thunder Megazord, "MZ-0103" would be the Ninja Megazord, "MZ-0104" would be Shogun Megazord, so on and so forth. That way they can open themselves up to doing non-MMPR Megazords earlier by not limiting themselves to chronological order like Bandai did with Legacy, which was a big problem lots of people had with that line due to how damn long it took to even get to the Ninja Megazord and how it meant we never even *got* the Shogunzords. We've seen they're not exactly interested in chronological order with Lightning Collection, hard to imagine they won't follow that with ZAP.
Assuming that it is indeed 1:144 scale and that the RangerWiki has accurate stats, then this figure should be close to a foot tall (to be more precise, between 11.2 and 11.4 inches, depending on whether you go buy the Daizyuzin page or the Dino Megazord page)
It looks like it does have a waist swivel somehow at 8:26. If I had to guess how, maybe the chestpiece isn’t attached to the bottom of the waist. Then the tail detaches somehow as to not be attached at the waist either.
the only other thing i wish he had would be an accessory piece to show the energy bolts that he would occasionally shoot out of the crest on the megazord's head. anything else you probably already said like other accessory play such as extendable and retractable horn chains on the triceratops and maybe even a piece to show the ice blast that could shoot from the mastodon's trunk. other than that, it looks like an awesome collectible figure and i wish i could afford one!
The way you talk about the Trex shins and Mastodon trunk makes me think you’ve never handled the SOC version, but I know darn well you have So I did the height math, the Dino Megazord is 41 meters tall. Divide that by 144 and you get roughly .285, and .285 meters in inches is 11.22 inches. WOO!
8:56 - When I was kid, I thought the rangers were in the chestplate because of the shape of their windshield when we see them looking out of the cockpit.
Gundam models actually use 1/144 because it's one of the scales used in military model kits, mostly airplanes and ships. So the idea is they would fit in with those and feel more like military model kits. Granted it's definitely a more rare scale.
The chonk chart Pterodactyl: a fine girl Saberooth tiger: she chonk Triceratops: a heckling chonker Tyrannosaurus: Mega chonker Mastodon: OH LAWD HE COMIN
The Soul of Chogokin Megazord does some stuff here too, like the trunk, and general articulation advancements. This does it for just above half the price.
The Tyrannosaurus alone is taller than most of my Gundam, I think I'd have to glue three action bases (stands) together just so my RG Tallgeese could reach the Megazord's head! Maybe make it a school display with Mr Zord & a class of naughty Gundam kids..
Hey TJ whats up. I'm happy you're looking at this, personally I'm not too impressed myself especially for the price tag. Paint looks awful in some images, quality of the parts look cheap. There's the hollowed legs for the sabertooth tiger. I'm not seeing anything that's making it worth $170 IMO.
Regarding the legs on the Tyrannosaurus. The zord posture is off which is why it looks so "leggy". But I'm seeing the combination features/tech are the same as the SOC Megazord.
...also as for additional features. They always just use the Mastodon zord-head as the shield when it needs to be its own accessory, seeing it's much bigger and flatter when a shield.
The only thing I don't like about this megazord is the face colors. I wish the eyes were a solid yellow and the mouth piece looked more like the SOC megazord.
Wanting screen accurate zords seems so strange to me. The TV show zords look goofy as heck, so I'm more than happy to get more stylized versions of the robots. Like if you went with screen accurate proportions the saber-tooth tiger and triceratops would be so tiny and stumpy.
Thanks for sharing your first impressions. While it looks like that it will be more articulated and solid than GX-72, I will not buy this. But if they later do a Thunder megazord I will buy it from day 1.
It's possible that one of the Easter Egg is more tiny minifigurines, like the Zyuranger in their civilian clothes or a tiny Green Ranger to attack the Megazord! A tiny Alpha 5 to repair it? Maybe effect parts for the T-Rex's finisher?
i dont like most of it but i find it interesting how they did make the "m" letters be transparent red, interesting, i think i heard them say it was based on some old orginal scketch of daizujin? idlike 2see those

Not just the tiny gloved hands, but it needs an alternate chestplate piece for battle damage. That thing was notorious for getting banged up in a fight. Or how about head laser or effect pieces for the individual zord attacks?
Have you never heard of soul of chogokin megazord? This literally takes almost every aspect of that cord and copies it here. Looks like a cheaper alternative to the SOC version which is by far way better and very heavy
To assuage you concerns: Megazords are a lot taller than typical mobile suits, so, looking at the numbers posted by some others here, 1/144 scale will be closer to a 1/100 (if not 1/60!) Gundam kit.
Personally I'm not a fan of the translucent detail. The honeycomb texture is a major distraction, but I guess I'm in the minority in terms of wanting flat colors.
